If you have a tendency to eat swift and would like to lose weight, deliberately slowing down your eating at mealtime is a positive number one step. Allow yourself 20 minutes to finish a common meal, but remember that the extra time isn’t a license for additional indulgence.

It may take some getting used to, but once you start eating slower you may find yourself feeling full before you are finished. And eating secondary!

Well, we’re on a roll with causes of bed wetting theories. Here’s one that seems to make sense. I’m still pretty much sold on the idea that it’s a hereditary issue - but it seems like if there are other causes of bed wetting, they may be more controllable. If it’s just heredity, you kind of have to wait it out until your child reaches the pre-set magical age of dryness. By nature not especially patient, the idea of waiting it out doesn’t appeal to me.

So, here’s what I’ve learned about the food and drink leading to bedwetting theory.

Chocolate

Oh no! Say it isn’t so! Well, actually it’s not necessarily the chocolate; it’s the caffeine in chocolate that may cause bed wetting. What does caffeine do? It stimulates the body, including the bladder. So that evening cup of cocoa or slice of chocolate cake may be a problem. (Gosh, now I’m craving chocolate!)

Soda

Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles. Carbonation is rumored to do strange things to immature bladders. Actually, for any adults who drink soda, you know first-hand that a can of Coke is a ticket to the restroom. It’s an effect that’s compounded by caffeine - and the sugar’s probably not helping matters either.

Oranges and Grapefruits

OK, if you’ve actually got a child who will eat grapefruit, I’d like to hear about it! But oranges are another story. I get a strange reaction when I eat oranges (and raw cranberries for some reason) - my face gets hot and I feel kind of funky. So, I’m assuming it’s possible to be allergic to citrus. The citric acid is the most likely culprit. Try cutting back on the orange juice and citrus in your child’s diet to see what happens.

Spicy Stuff

There are some spices out there that could probably be rated pharmaceutical grade. Think of the effect Chinese mustard has on your nose! No doubt some of these spices have an equivalent effect on the bladder. Salsa, Asian food, and other hot, hot, hot foods may be contributing to the bedwetting problem.

Food Allergies

I’ve heard of people whose children are allergic to everything from eggs to wheat, and have to say that dealing with bedwetting is nothing compared to the trouble they have to go through just to feed their children. Couple a serious food allergy with bedwetting, and it’s enough to make you want to retreat to the bath tub for the next ten years! Some allergies cause bladder spasms - which of course, means a bedwetting accident. It’s not just food, either. Some people are really sensitive to preservatives, dyes, and other additives. It doesn’t seem that the only effect of a food allergy would be bedwetting, though. So don’t throw out all your groceries just yet. But if your child has multiple challenges, it’s something to consider. You may have to shop around for an allergist - so be prepared.

So what do you do if you discover your child’s bedwetting problem is caused by a food sensitivity? It’s not like being allergic to a cat - get some shots or send Fluffy to live with Grandma. You’ll have to enroll your child’s compliance on this (so what else is new?). Get your child to see the value, the what’s-in-it-for-me of staying away from what may be a favorite food. Dry nights are pretty valuable - and your child may come to see the tradeoff as worthwhile. The sensitivity may be temporary, too - and that should help.

After all, just the thought of never being able to eat chocolate is cruel and unusual punishment.

Tom Hanks plays the lead role to the best of his ability, playing the part of a character type he has totally mastered - the clueless, out-of-the-loop guy. He played similar roles in Big and Forrest Gump, but irrespective of those roles, Hanks is generally outstanding in any role which he’s assigned. The Man With One Red Shoe is no exception. Hanks comes across as a genuine and likeable character, totally oblivious to the events which transpire around him.

Based solely on a case of mistaken identity, The Man With One Red Shoe is an interesting concept for a film. Despite stretching the limits of reality, the film nevertheless manages to remains within the boundaries of the sane and normal. The movie isn’t over the top or utterly ridiculous like so many comedies of today. Instead, the lead characters remain serious while the circumstances of their situation provide the humor. A light-hearted and fun film, providing an early glimpse of Tom Hanks’ much heralded career, makes The Man With One Red Shoe a definite must-see movie.

As you’re walking along, browsing at the different menus displayed in the front of each restaurant, you get a notification signal on your mobile phone. It’s the newly opened bistro on the corner, asking you if you want to receive a coupon and a menu. You respond with a Yes, and the files are sent straight to your phone. There’s a full menu and a coupon for a free appetizer with your entree. Lunch sounds good — let’s give it a try. You’ve just taken part in a Bluetooth Marketing campaign.

So, aside from the funny name, what exactly is Bluetooth Marketing? How does it work? And what does this mean for the average consumer?

Most mobile phone shoppers have probably heard of Bluetooth by now. It’s a standard feature on almost every new cell phone sold today, as well as many laptops and desktop computers. One of the more common uses for Bluetooth is to connect to a hands-free headset, but it can actually do a whole lot more. Bluetooth is really just a way for various devices to connect to each other and share information without the need for wires. The server will continuously scan the area for Bluetooth enabled devices as they come within range (up to 100 meters). When found, it sends the user a message asking if they wish to receive the advertiser’s content. This could be a coupon, a video, Java game or any other multimedia file. If the user responds with a Yes, the file is sent automatically. If they respond with a No, the server logs this decision, and will not ask the same user again the next time they come within range. This so called blacklisting feature ensures that users are not continuously bothered with requests to download things they don’t want.

And, in contrast to SMS or text messaging, there is never a charge to send or receive files via Bluetooth. What’s more, since files don’t pass through any cellular carriers, Bluetooth Marketing works even where there is no cell signal, such as subway stations or other dead zones.

So what are the benefits and pitfalls, both for prospective businesses looking for a new and unique way to connect with their customers, and for consumers, who may view advertising on their cell phones as a sort of invasion of privacy?

Because files sent by Bluetooth are free, it would not matter if a company sent 10 promotions or 10,000. Would people be spammed with ads they don’t want as they’re walking down the street? Will advertisers be able to record their cell phone numbers and use it for marketing purposes? And what if someone doesn’t want to receive this kind of marketing — ever?

In fact, the technology does incorporate ways to resolve these issues. Again, Bluetooth servers must always get permission first from users before any content is sent. And if the user refuses, the software remembers this, and will not ask again in the future. This ensures that only people wishing to receive content will get it — a benefit to both advertiser and consumer. Also, personally identifiable information is never collected by the system. The server only detects each phone’s MAC address, a unique hardware ID, but nothing else. It cannot collect phone numbers or any personal information from any user. People needn’t be afraid that their private information is being compromised in any way. And, of course, users can always choose to never participate in any Bluetooth campaign by simply setting their Bluetooth to invisible , so they won’t be found in the first place.

Bluetooth Marketing has been popular in Europe for several years now, and is only now beginning to catch on in the United States. Besides just coupons and promotions, stores can get creative and offer free games or songs to reward customers, companies could use this technology to distribute bulletins to employees, or professionals can use Bluetooth to send business cards to potential clients, ensuring that they always have their correct contact details handy. The possibilities are vast. So the next time you’re walking down the street and you get an unexpected message on your phone asking if you want a free cappuccino, just say Yes, and look around you. You may not have noticed the cafe on the corner, but they noticed you!

If you have ever been victim of fraud before, then you know all too well how ugly it can be. The key to preventing fraud is to use common sense and investigate with all the information you have.

Preventing Fraud

They key to preventing fraud is to collect as much information as possible. While more information is generally better, there is such thing as too much information too. You don’t want to go around collecting your clients’ SSNs, as that probably would scare them away. A shopping cart, or some sort of ordering system is usually a good idea in keeping your customer data secure and easily findable.

Below we’re going to break up the different techniques you can do with certain types of information.

IP Address

The best thing you can do with an IP address is figuring out the location of it. You can do this with www.domaintools.com http://www.domaintools.com or www.dnsstuff.com http://www.dnsstuff.com . Sometimes an IP can be off by a few states or a few hundred miles at the most. But if the IP location is in a different country than your customer, then you may have a problem. From my experience, the IP is usually from an odd country. Generally IP is one of the most clear indicators, but it can be wrong.

Phone Number

With a phone number, you can do several things. The most obvious is figure out where the area code is. If this is a US phone number, you should be able just Google the area code and it will tell you the location of it. Be forewarned, that a lot of times people have an area code near them, but not necessarily in the same location. Then there are the oddballs who have a VoIP number or something similar on the other side of the country. You got to be very careful with phone numbers.

The next thing you can do is a reverse phone lookup. I find wwww.whitePages.com http://wwww.whitePages.com to be the most effective and easiest to use. A lot of numbers that you will lookup will be unlisted or cell phone numbers. A reverse phone lookup is also an effective method for finding out if your customer is a minor or just slightly older than a minor (as always, there are exceptions to this).

Domain

Every domain must have contact information. There are services out there that offer privacy protection for their contact information, but a lot of the domains are unprotected. You can lookup your client’s domain using DomainTools to see if it’s registered to them, and if it is, compare the information there with the information that they gave you.

Username / email

Almost all of the fraudsters that you will encounter will use a form of a free email address. The tricky part is, so will your legitimate customers. Googling their email address or a username will sometimes return some results that you can checkout, and learn more about your customer to see if he will be the ideal customer.

How to Deal with an Existing Fraud Case

Didn’t see this tutorial in time to learn how to prevent fraud? Well, let’s go over the basics on fighting those pesky chargebacks.

No matter what type of merchant account you own, if it is a legitimate fraud, then you will lose. It’s pretty simple. However you do stand a chance against those who cry fraud, when in reality, they just wanted it free.

Think in terms of their demographics; age, gender, profession, level of education, location, interests. Examples: women dentists, mid-life women, divorced fathers, first-time home buyers, single professional women, young male lawyers in their first 2 years of practice.

WHAT YOU DO. Now that you have identified a sub-group of people with some characteristics in common, what problems or complaints do they share? Think in terms of outcomes. What results do people have after they’ve worked with you? What problems do you solve? EXAMPLES: Going back to our sample target markets above, you might help women dentists get more clients or help mid-life women build a first-time business or plan for their retirement activities or retirement finances.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Generally, in terms of marketing, once you can identify a sub-population of people, you can begin to figure out where they “hang out.” As a speaker, this also helps you find your speaking audience! Does an association exist for these people? Is there a specialty sub-group in the Chamber of Commerce for this population? Perhaps they read the same publications and hear speakers in an organized setting. This is a great avenue for you to publish articles they might read and to get invited to speak at their meetings.

Knowing WHAT you do for your audience also helps you prepare to speak by handing you your topic! By knowing the minds of the people in your speaking audience, you also know the problems they have in common and can provide them with answers, resources and a taste of what it’s like to work with you.

TAKE THE NEXT STEP. It’s time for you to get in action to find your speaking audience. Ask yourself the questions above to see who you have the strongest desire to work with. You can also make a quick review of your past and current clients, find your favorites, and then observe all their identifying characteristics, both demographic and by personality and behavior.
