Choose The Right Pearl Color For You

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Pearls are said to be the perennial classics, they always look elegant and never go out of fashion. They could be part of necklaces, rings, bracelets or earrings, but they have a singular knack of reinventing themselves. But not all pearls are for everyone, and this is why we need to be careful while making our choices.

Almost the only pearls that suit almost everyone, are the Akoya whites from Japan, no matter what complexion, these look stunning anyhow. But then, they also cost an arm and a leg, because they are the best quality salt water cultured pearls, with the best rounded shape and luster. They come in white, cream, pink and yellow with overtones of light pink and green, but the whites go along with all skin complexions from very fair to very dark. They work to bring out skin radiance and attract positive attention to your smile. Mabe white pearls are also similarly apt for earrings and pendants for any type of skin.

Black pearls are usually Tahitian, and the clearer the skin complexion the better they look, they provide a natural foil to fair skin. The midnight black Tahitian pearls tend to do the best on fair brunettes with dark eyes, where they bring in a sense of mystique and dark sophistication. It helps that they come in all sorts of shades of gray, and make the best ever necklaces and earrings for those with gray eyes. The uncommonly beautiful pistachio, aubergine and pale blue Tahitian pearls add glamor to a dusky skin, and look great on almost all women, even those with ebony skins. If you have blue-tinted hair or magenta highlights, you could go for the colorful Tahitian pearls, and you could possibly carry off black Tahitians with aplomb if you are fair into the bargain.

In general, while buying pearls the rule of thumb is to select pink pearls for fairer skin tones, so a pink Akoya or Majorca would probably highlight the blushing paleness of a fair blondes or brunettes. Pink freshwater pearls are ideal for such skin complexions and conjure up an aura of youthful freshness. But fair beauties with red or red-dyed hair should possibly try and avoid them, and pick cream-toned pearls instead. For darker skin tones, silver or golden pearl tones are ideal, giving the complexion a bronzed radiance, South-sea pearls would probably be a good idea.

Pearls usually tend to be worn for formal occasions but with more and more different shades of pearls available every day, fashion mavens are having a field day experimenting with pearls on a day-today basis. The tips shared here are not the last word, and you can try on different color to see what they can do for you. But you can sure be clued in to the color of pearl that would do your complexion the greatest justice, and shop with confidence!

My Search For The Perfect Bikini…

Friday, February 29th, 2008

I am packing my bags for a trip to Costa Rica and realize that all of my bikinis… well, they just don’t look good on me. So I do what any thirty something would do, I go to online to begin my search for the perfect bikini. There is no doubt that there are a lot of companies out there so I began plucking through the list. In my search I came across an interesting company that was founded by a Brazilian woman who was going to college in the States and was frustrated by the bikini she was seeing. So she did what any frustrated woman would do- she started her own bikini company and is now in charge of one of the fastest growing micro and Brazilian bikini companies on the internet. I recently sat down with Ana, the founder of Look Swimwear, in a coffee shop in Miami Beach to find out more about her, Look Swimwear and the search for the perfect bikini…

Thank you Ana for agreeing to take some time out of your busy schedule- can I ask you to tell us more about why you started Look Swimwear in the first place?

Ana: “[laughs] Yeah, I was I guess not unlike most woman in that I was always frustrated when it came time to go on a trip or head to the beach- I would get into this “bikini panic” because it was impossible to find a bikini that not everyone had, was cute, sexy- really the perfect bikini. I was not used to this feeling at all, I grew up in Brazil and down there the beach and bikinis are really part of the culture. Brazilians love to show off and spend time with their friends and family on the beach. So long story short, I was always around the environment and definitely interested in swimwear fashion and bikinis so this frustration got the best of me- I started Look Swimwear.”

I have heard you often reference the “perfect bikini”- can you tell me more about what you mean by that?

Ana:” Well the perfect bikini is really one that has everything that all of us women look for. It has to be well made with high quality Lycras, fashionable, unique enough so that every lady on the beach is not wearing it and most importantly has to reflect who you are. Bikinis and fashion go hand in hand and are really an extension of our personalities so the perfect bikini pulls in all of these components into a small package… [laughter]”

Small for sure… For our readers who aren’t familiar with your bikini lines how do you describe them?

Ana:” I think the best way to describe them is that all of our bikinis are small, sexy, stylish and fun. We market ourselves as a purveyor of micro and Brazilian bikinis and that is in my mind exactly what we are. Anyone can sell bikinis but Look Swimwear is a purveyor because we take so much pride in our design, workmanship, materials we use and service- and we do not take this commitment lightly either. I am always talking to our customers to make sure that we are exceeding their expectations from beginning to end. I think that is one of the things that make us so successful. Consumers these days are very demanding and high expectations. But, they also are loyal to the companies that they trust and serve them well so I guess our huge growth is a vote from our customer base really.”

Look Swimwear is now one of the fastest growing micro bikini companies, what plans do you have for the coming season?

Ana:” Lycras, prints and cuts are always changing is all I will say. I cannot tell you what we are going to do but I will say that you will love our new ideas and that we will not loose focus on who we are- a damn good sexy bikini company. My direct staff and our employees are some of the most talented and creative people I have ever known- they are really the backbone to what Look is all about. So when you work with talented and creative people then only good things will come of it so that means more sexy bikinis for all of you ladies to wear and for the guys to enjoy.”

How do men come into Look Swimwear equation?

Ana:” Well they are really the reason why we all want to wear sexy little bikinis and show off. There is nothing better for a woman’s confidence than her knowing that “she still has it”. Don’t get me wrong, a confident woman does not need someone else’s approval to have a strong sense of self but showing off , having fun and getting attention is such a rush and is good for all ages… [laughs]”

What would you say to some of the women out there who maybe have never worn a micro or Brazilian bikini before?

Ana:” They should try it out for sure and get away from those boring suits that cover up everything. I go to beaches all over the world and am still amazed at how some people can say that what they are wearing is a bikini. I can tell you that wearing a smaller bikini is a lot of fun but definitely not made for the family reunion. We have so many women and couples buy from us when they head out for couples vacation or even for the boat, pool or where ever. It’s a huge confidence booster to catch the guys looking out the corner of their eyes at you and plus they are really comfortable. Its funny, ten years ago thong underwear was just catching on with the masses and now look around, everyone is wearing them. I am not saying that micro and Brazilian bikinis are going to take over the traditional and conservative bikini but the market is growing like crazy and women all over the world are catching on. I guess it really comes down to if the woman has a little devilish side of her that likes to show off or break the rules. If she does then I would say go for it and try it out- we have not heard any complaints yet.”

Well thank you Ana for sitting down with me and telling us a little more about your company. So many of my friends have asked me to do a piece on your company and I am really happy that I could meet you.

Ana:” My pleasure Jessica I enjoyed it”.

Photo Handbag: Giving Your Wife The Best Gift For Any Occasion

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Try to imagine that you suddenly remembered that your wedding anniversary is next week and you forgot about getting your wife a gift while you’re busy at the office. Try to imagine how frustrating it can be for you and how disappointed she may be if she discovers that you didn’t buy her anything for your special day.

When you think about it, it’s really not a pretty sight to see. So, if you forgot about buying her a gift, you would then need to buy her a gift immediately. However, you know how confusing and how frustrating it can be with just thinking about what gift you should give her. Surely you don’t want to buy her the latest gaming console available in the market that you have been really wanting as a gift.

You want to buy her something that she will treasure for a long time and at the same time, show your creative side. It is important that you should give her something that she can use and one that she can show off to her friends.

Flowers alone just don’t cut it. If you want to really impress her, you should try and think about what kind of thing she would really want to use and at the same time, remember you.

An example of a perfect gift idea for your wife in any occasion is a handbag. Sure, a regular designer handbag can be great, but what if you can personalize it? What “personalize” means is that you can put something on the handbag that she will truly appreciate.

An example of a handbag is called photo handbag. Because of today’s advancement in photo printing technology, you can now print pictures anywhere you want. You can print your wedding photo on the sides of the handbag with designs that she will truly appreciate.

You can even put in different photos. You can put in a family photo, or just about anything as long as the quality of the photo is good. All you have to do is look for a photo printing service that offers photo handbag printing service near your area. However, if you don’t see any of these services in your area, you can try and look for it in the Internet. Today, there are quite a few websites that offer photo handbags and other printing services.

There are even websites that offer designer handbags with the photo of your choice printed on the sides.

To do this, all you have to do is look for the website of your choice, subscribe in the website, choose a handbag, choose a design pattern, submit the photo and wait for it to be delivered to your home.

There are also available websites that offer photo handbag printing with the preview feature. In this feature, you choose what kind of design pattern you want and where you want the photo placed. With this kind of feature, you can really create a unique photo handbag design that your wife can truly appreciate.

If you want to make it more special, why not buy her two gifts at once. Buy her that pearl necklace she’s been wanting and put it inside the handbag. With this kind of idea, you will surely make your wife happy.

Always remember that simple gift ideas are better.

7 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Starting A Business Blog

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Blogging is the latest buzzword in online marketing and PR. But with so many marketers jumping on the blogging bandwagon, few people are giving a thought to whether blogs are really up their alley, or taking the time to consider the best ways of going about it.

If you are planning to start a business blog, ask yourself these questions before you take the final plunge.

1. Do you really need a blog?

Writing and maintaining a blog takes a certain degree of commitment, as well as a passion (or at least a liking) for stringing words into a decent sentence. If you don’t enjoy writing that much, you could always create an audio or video blog.

But would your business objectives really be served by starting a blog? Or could other methods of online marketing - like SEO, ezine advertising or newsletter publishing work just as well, if not better?

2. Whom do you want to reach with your blog?

The first step to reaching your audience is understanding where they go to find information about your products.

If your audience largely consists of people who live in your town or use products that they search for in the newspapers, offline advertising might be more suited to your purpose.

If however, your target audience belongs to one or more of these segments, a blog might be just the thing to boost your business.

- Internet users

Does your target audience really use the internet? If not, then starting a blog (or any online activity, for that matter) will just be a huge waste of time and effort.

- Blog readers

Does your target audience read blogs? Or do they prefer to get their information in their inbox? If the latter is true, then an email newsletter might be a better option than a blog.

- Search engine users

A blog is an excellent way to boost your search engine rankings and get listed for a lot of your target keywords. If you know that your audience uses search engines to find information, a blog will increase your chances of getting their attention.

3. What do you want to achieve with your blog?

There are a lot of things that a blog can do for your business. Blogs can help you…

- Increase your visibility and search engine rankings

- Brand yourself, your products, your services, your company

- Build a community and network with people who have similar interests

- Expand your reach to those outside your current sphere of influence

- Establish your credibility as an expert or thought-leader in your field

- Put a human face on your business

- Reach out to potential customers and stakeholders

Deciding exactly what you want to achieve with your blog can help you get focused, so that you can spend your time and effort in activities that help, not hinder your business objectives.

4. How much time can you spend on your blog?

Serious business bloggers not only spend time writing their own blogs, but also spend a great deal of time reading up on current events and browsing other blogs in their field for information.

If you are prepared to put in the time and effort required to do that sort of research, your blog will serve as a good branding tool for your business. If not, you should either hire someone to do the research or seriously rethink your decision to start a blog.

5. What blogging platform will serve your needs best?

Deciding your blogging platform is an important step that you should take only after becoming familiar with the features and benefits of each option.

The reason it is so crucial is because it can be extremely difficult to migrate an established blog to a new platform once you have started it. Moving your blog can result in you losing your data, search engine listings and readers, so don’t take this decision lightly.

Decide which platform will best meet your marketing objectives, time constraints and personal preferences before you make your first post.

If you are short of time, and want to spend more time writing, then a hosted solution like Blogger, Blogware, Squarespace or Typepad might serve your purpose better.

This might also prove a better option if you want to get started as soon as possible, are new to the internet, or are unfamiliar with scripts or code.

If, on the other hand, you’re a control freak and don’t mind spending some time and effort to customize your blog, then a server-installed software, like Wordpress, b2Evolution or Movable Type might be just right for you.

If you don’t want to install the scripts yourself, choose a hosting solution with Fantastico, which comes with a one-click install of a number of blogging software.

6. How do you plan to promote your blog?

Why is it good to know this before you start your blog? Because it will help you decide where best to invest your time and effort when you need to build traffic to your blog.

You’ll learn more about the methods to promote your blog later in this eCourse. Some of these tasks can be outsourced, while others you will have to do yourself.

Decide what you want to take on and look out for service providers to handle the other functions so you can start building traffic to your blog as soon as possible.

7. How will you assess the success of your blog?

To determine how successful your blog is in boosting your profile or profits you will have to measure your blog traffic and track sales or leads that have come through it.

Planning this in advance will help you take more informed decisions about your blogging metrics, choice of blogging platform and degree of customization you require on your blog.

Understand that blogging is not for everyone. It’s just another form of communication. Don’t get so hung up on the technology that you end up ignoring more appropriate ways of communicating your message.

Some things may be easier to communicate face to face, in a conference room, or even through the good old telephone.

But if you asked yourself all the questions above and decided that blogging meets all your objectives, then a blog may be just what the doctor ordered for your business.

Study Guides - Are They Helpful?

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Have you ever purchased a study guide that promises to teach you the the great and amazing “study secret” that no one has ever heard of? In most cases, this type of hype does not carry any real content or any fulfillment to the many promises they make. Hence, It will be my intention today to try to guide you on how to find out the real study techniques that lead to success in your studies. First of all, let me start out by this premise:

There are no real short cuts or secrets to gaining knowledge, it’s a matter of hard word and patience. Hence the saying: “Patience might be sour but its result is sweet”. Although there are no (or very few) real study secrets, there do exist certain study techniques that will make your studying a whole lot easier and even more effective. As you yourself might know, there are numerous ways of studying and I can’t compel you to choice a certain way that doesn’t fit you, hence I strongly urge you to do the following:

No matter how you learn the best (by visual experience, kinetic etc) make sure that you do not change horses in midstream concerning the way you learn, ie do not flip flop between different learning approaches. This will inevitable confuse you and may even worsen your study results in the long run. Remember that studying a small amount of information each day on a long time period is several times better than studying an immense amount of information over a short time frame. Contingency is a vital component in your studies, never forget that!

This article was not written in order to spell out all the thousands of different study techniques found under the sun but in the hope of making you realize that one can systemize the way one studies and that this change really can make a difference. Therefore, I urge you once again to sit down and reflect for a moment; how do you learn the best? Be sure to write down your answers and review them with your self and see if you can make any general conclusions, you might be stunned to see that you might have had a bad approach for too long.

10 Tips On Writing An IT Resume

Friday, February 29th, 2008

The IT job market is still one of the hottest markets and commands the highest resume response from job seekers. Given the sheer volume of resumes that a hiring manager has to sift through for each position, only the strongest resumes actually get past the initial 30 second screening. The national average for resumes received for each IT position advertised is 300 and increasing.

1. Make Your Resume Searchable: Using the right keywords is the key for making your IT resume web searchable. It is not enough to mention the skill sets you have, but you must also use them effectively. For example, if ORACLE and VB.NET is your forte, then you should use phrases such as “database programming” and “testing”. Another thing about keywords is that resumes these days are simply being scanned electronically for inclusion into company databases. If you are not using the right IT keywords for the position advertised, your resume may not even see a human being.

2. Choose The Right Format: Although different formats have pros and cons, for IT positions, the functional resume format is ideal for its effectiveness in highlighting your skills and experiences. This saves time for hiring managers and you stand a better chance of getting shortlisted.

3. Emphasize Your Skills: The key to cracking the IT job market is really your skills. Emphasize your skills with short sentences such as “programmer with 8 years experience in COBOL and Oracle, and last three yeas as team leader”. Another example could be “eight projects in 6 years in C++, SAS, HTML, CAD, and TCP/IP”. This also showcases your additional skills in areas such as leadership, management and interpersonal skills (which are sometimes lacking in IT candidates).

4. Avoid Mistakes In Terminology: There are job seekers that still write industry terminology incorrectly, which usually has disastrous consequences on their job search. Example, “data warehousing” is often written as “dataware housing” or worse, “data wearhousing”. Proofread your resume thoroughly, then have a friend do the same.

5. Cut Down Lengthy Paragraphs: Summarizing your resume will definitely score points over writing long paragraphs. You don’t want your extraordinary skills to get lost in a maze of words. Certifications such as MCDBA, MCP+1, & MCSE should be listed in a stand-alone fashion.

6. Highlight Accomplishments. Mention your responsibilities and specific accomplishments in your current position, giving examples of the platforms used for both back-end and front-end operations.

7. Omit Personal Information. Avoid unnecessary personal details; they will only be distractions.

8. Summarize Your Resume At The Top: Summarizing key elements at the top makes more impact and encourages the employer to continue reading. An executive summary, well written, can do an excellent job at keeping the reader engaged.

9. Avoid The Temptation To Overdo: Treat your resume as your calling card. You must be able to substantiate everything that you have written. For example, if you are applying for an Oracle Financial position when your specialty is really database management, you will be exposed. Additionally, you will lose your chance to be considered for any other position that the employer may have available.

10. Proofread The Resume: Nix grammatical and spelling errors. There is no excuse for typos or misspellings in a resume. Because IT resumes have highly technical words, you have to proofread them more closely.

Getting your resume just right for the initial shortlisting is not hard if you stick to IT resume writing basics. By following these 10 tips, you will be able to write and market your IT resume successfully and land that job.

Diaper Bags - Convenience and Fashion

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Carrying a diaper bag is a necessity if you are a parent on the go. The baby diaper takes up very little space, however it is the bottles, wipes, toys, change of clothing etc. that can be a big hassle to lug around all day. We all have to use diapers bags if we travel with our babies, but they don’t have to be overwhelming and ugly. We don’t have to carry those heavy plastic bags around anymore if we don’t want to. We have fashionable options that make using them a great deal easier.

You can get the convenience of a diaper bag and make a fashion statement at the same time. Designer diaper bags are becoming the biggest fashion statement for new parents to make. It’s not only celebrities and rich people who use these anymore because designer diaper bags have gotten to be much more cost effective. You can find these designer diaper bags in many different styles, colors, fabrics and designs. My favorite right now is the sling bag, which looks like a modern sling back pack.

I know that when you are caring for a baby or two, that it is hard to find the time and the motivation to always look smart. You spend so much time on the children with the constant attention they need for feeding, changing and amusing, that you take a second place to it all. However, it is important to give yourself some time to in your busy day to be able to care for your self. While a designer diaper bag may seem like a luxury, it is one small way that you can pamper yourself so that when you are out you can feel smarter with a designer accessory.

I personally love the new back pack diaper bags because it provides me with more freedom for my arms. I am finding that fewer parents are struggling to hold the baby; push the stroller, carry the diaper bag, and heaven forbid the cell phone starts ringing. These new back pack diaper bags make it far easier for parents to multi task, and it is causing less stress for the traveling parent. They work wonders if you are traveling by bus. They allow parents to take many more calming breaths, which we all need; especially since it seems that whenever you are trying to multi task with your baby in your hands, this is the moment when your baby starts to cry. The back pack diaper bag was a life saver to me, and can be one for you too.

Even men have to tote diapers around sometimes and Michael Jennings prefers to look cool when doing so using a diaper backpack. To see other cool diaper bag ideas visit his website ==>

Learn to Read Piano Music

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Learning a chord-based approach to playing the piano might have you rockin’ and rollin’ in not time, but many people want to know and understand what they are playing by learning how to read piano music. This could take time, a few months or even years, but those who learn to read piano music don’t have to hear a song before they play it. They simply look over the piece of sheet music and are able to ‘hear’ the score before them. Understanding the notes is like being able to read another language.

The first steps to learning how to read piano or keyboard sheet music involve learning the notes and clefs that a piece of music is composed of. This will let you know whether you need to play in a treble clef, or high tone, or if the piece is written for deeper or lower tones, called a bass clef. Next, you must be able to designate which notes are what, where they are located, and why they are there.

Notes are broken down and depicted individually on what is called a stave, the five parallel lines music is written on. Depending on where the note is on the stave, on the lines or in the spaces, this will formulate how a song should be played. Different parts of the musical score will detail each section’s notes all at once to help the conductor lead an entire symphony.

The next step to reading piano sheet music is a bit more complicated. The time signature is another important feature to focus on because it tells you at what pace the song should be played. These are often made up of vertical bar lines, which indicate when and where a song begins and stops. On this time signature there are numbers that indicate how many beats exist per measure. You’ll learn to recognize the time signature, what it means, and how it controls the rhythm of a song as you continue learning how to read piano music.

The final step to understanding a piano score involves understanding the next type of signature. This is called the key signature. The key signature tells you in what key the piece should be played. This can vary from sharp, to flat, to natural. Sharp keys are the black keys found just above the white keys on a piano or keyboard. The notations on the key signature indicate what part or parts of a song need to be emphasized or not. By learning to read piano music, you will not only be able to understand the piece before you, but you will also gain a deeper appreciation for the music.

Lasik’s Non-Surgical Alternatives

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

If Lasik is not right for your eyes, or the thought of it does not appeal to you. You may wish to consider contact lenses, Orthokeratology (Ortho-K), or, that old standby, eyeglasses. Not only are these options cheaper, but they might suit your lifestyle better and is less scary than surgery. All these methods have one thing in common and that is the benefit of reversibility.

Contact lens

Putting aside Lasik, there is a huge variety of contact lens designed for usual and special needs on the market today. They are now available in bifocal prescriptions. And, sensitive eyes now have the option of extra thin lenses. There are soft, comfortable lenses that you can discard after a day or a month, and rigid gas permeable lenses that can last years and provide sharper, clearer vision than soft lenses.

Soft lenses

This type of lens absorbs moisture and takes the shape of the eye with more ease. They are cheaper than rigid lenses, but more expensive in the long run.

Rigid Lenses

As for this type of lenses, they are more durable but take more time to get use to them. They are more resistant to buildup of deposits. Even lasik deals with astigmatism. With rigid contacts, you can differentiate between the left and right eyes and select toric lenses for astigmatism. News about the seven-day and 30-day continuous wear of lenses have recently been approved by the FDA.

What does Lasik do?

Basically, through surgery, they change the shape of the cornea. Ortho-K uses rigid gas permeable contact lenses to train the shape of the cornea. In both, this improves the eye’s ability to refract light and focus. Though the result isn’t permanent, with prolonged use, a person’s vision may improve drastically, up to 20/40 or even 20/20 vision.

Ortho-K therapy

In the beginning of this process, the contact lenses are worn about eight hours a day. After lasik, vision improvement occurs in days. With Ortho-K, as the cornea changes shape with time, the vision will keep on improving until the lenses are worn less and less each day. Unfortunately, stopping the use of Ortho-K lenses causes the corneas to revert back to their original state. And also, the effects of Lasik may fade, too.

The clarity of the vision may vary, and it may take several months to change the vision measurably. To get desired effect more rapidly, accelerated Ortho-K therapy may be used.

Stick with eyeglasses

If lasik and contact lenses are not for you, the only left possibility is to stick with your eyeglasses. Eyeglass frames are more durable, more flexible and come in many different shapes. Nowadays, lenses are made lighter and stronger with more scratch resistance. New options for glasses include tinting that changes faster, progressive bifocal lenses, anti-reflective coatings, UV protection and greater impact resistance.

Advantages

Some benefits you get from this is that they are less expensive than contact lenses or lasik surgery. They are easier to change and fashion-foward styling. The best thing is that the good eyesight that they have provided to you for years will continue indefinitely.

Conclusion

If you cannot have lasik surgery now, or even if you never choose to have that procedure, these are viable, safe, money-saving choices. Even if you decide to have lasik surgery in the future, choosing either contact lenses or Ortho-K therapy, or just your eyeglasses for now can keep you going until you make that decision.

The Beauty of an Opal Bracelet

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

A day stunning and value to addition to any respectable collection of jewelry is an opal bracelet. Opals are incredibly colorful, but you must know how to properly care for them if you want to maintain that stunning beauty. There are many things to remember about the opal bracelet.

Opals are varied unique because they are cut in a different fashion and other precious gems. When opals are mined, the miners themselves take extraordinary care when handling the beautiful stones. This adds their beauty and their value.

The stones of an opal bracelet are both vibrant and radiant in their color, with a different sort of color combination if they are black opals or white opals.
