New York Giants Tickets - Is This A Team That’s About To Implode?

One thing is certain, regardless of how the New York Giants are playing within any given season - New York Giants tickets are always hard to find, and their fans are as loyal as any in the NFL. However, 2006 is shaping up to be a make-or-break season for the team, as their hard-edged coach is beginning to wear on the team, and their brutal schedule is taking its toll on their fortunes early in the season. We’ll examine some factors involved with why this is such an intriguing season for the Giants and then we’ll predict how things will turn out for “Big Blue.”

Tom Coughlin

Coughlin came to the Giants in 2004 after fans and management tired of the lax atmosphere that former Coach Jim Fassel had created. Even though Fassel had taken the Giants to a Super Bowl in 2000, players were beginning to take advantage of the professional trust the coaching staff placed in the players, and it was indeed time for a change.

As it usually goes, the Giants looked for a coach whose approach was different from Fassel’s, and no one’s approach was and is more distinct than Coughlin’s. Coughlin is absolutely militant in how he runs a team, and every detail regarding playing football for his club is micromanaged.

While this approach certainly instills discipline, it also grates on players, particularly veterans who have grown accustomed to doing things a certain way. Everywhere Coughlin goes, his players complain about his approach after he arrives, and then they either accept the style or leave. However, Coughlin’s track record indicates that ultimately, players begin to tune him out and even let their frustrations go public, and that’s what could be happening now in New York.

The Players

This is a team filled with many “name” players, and while these players help to drive up demand for New York Giants tickets, they don’t necessarily help provide a winning environment. Stars, whether they are real or simply good players who are overrated because they play in the country’s biggest market, tend to help dictate a team’s overall level of morale, and recent quotes by some of these players has led fans and media to speculate that the team’s foundation is cracking.

A prime example is tight end Jeremy Shockey, whose outburst after an annihilation at the hands of the Seahawks was quite telling. Shockey basically called out himself, his teammates and his coaches for not being prepared to play a Super Bowl-level team, and these quotes reverberated throughout the Big Apple.

The Giants have a lot of individual-type players who tend to speak their minds, regardless of the consequences. Star RB Tiki Barber called out the coaches after their playoff loss a year ago, and other veterans like Michael Strahan have been known to march to their own beat.

The Schedule

The Giants’ 2006 schedule is brutal. They play several playoff and title-contending teams, and they’re also in one of the toughest divisions in all of football. There is no “break” in their slate, and every week is sure to be an enormous test of the Giants’ mettle.

The reason the schedule is important is because winning tends to quiet most complaints, and if the Giants don’t start winning soon, these complaints will gain steam thanks to the New York media.

Overall, New York Giants tickets will remain in high demand in 2006, but this could be a team that implodes in a big way as the weather gets colder in New York.

Red Wine Glasses

Red wine glasses are characterized by their rounder, wider bowl, to give the wine a chance to breathe. The more mature and full-bodied the wine, the wider the bowl of the wine glass. The wider bowl not only promotes oxygenation or breathing but also the development of the aromas.

Since most red wines are meant to be consumed at room temperature, the wider bowl also allows the red wine to cool more quickly after hand contact has warmed it. The stem of a red wine glass is an important feature as it provides a way to hold the glass without warming the wine from body heat. It also prevents fingerprints from smearing the wine glass, and makes the glass easier to swirl.

Red wine glass sizes usually vary from under 9 ounces (270 ml) up to 14 ounces (415 ml). The shape of the red wine glass is very important, as it concentrates the aroma (or bouquet) to emphasize the varietal’s characteristic. The shape of the red wine glass also directs the wine itself into the best area of the mouth from the varietal. In general, the opening of the red wine glass is not wider than the widest part of the bowl. Whereas shape can greatly enhance the enjoyment of the wine, design can make the experience a visual feast.

The large tulip or narrowing goblet is the most useful as it allows swirling but has a narrow opening to concentrate the aroma or bouquet. Many wine drinkers call this shape their red or all-purpose glass. These glasses are mostly used for Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Large format glasses allow the maximum exposure to air for a big or closed wine. They also add a note of drama to the table when a very special wine is served. This is often the only glass for big red aficionados. Also considered a chardonnay glass because of the white Burgundy lineage. These glasses are mostly used for Burgundy, Grand Cru, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

There is also an ISO red wine glass, ISO stands for International Standards Organisation. The glasses are made to a particular size, shape and standard for a specific use. It’s rounded shape and smoothness gives an ideal relationship between surface area and volume. The tapered bowl allows free circulation of wine and the funnelling of its vapours. The ISO glass is mostly used for wine tasting. The glass is maybe a little bit small for drinking wine.

Orrefors Glassworks and other glassworks that makes hand blown glasses, have refined the design of wine glasses with unique size and shape for most wines. Orrefors red wine glasses are crafted to match the varietal quality of an array of red wines. The proper red wine glass has the ability to highlight the regal flavor of Cabernet Sauvignon, the elusive perfume of Pinot Noir, the fruity Pinotage, and the brooding power of a Burgundy.

Hand blown wine glasses with design has been popular because of the visual beauty and feeling. Hand blown red wine glasses results in a better vessel, with a thinner lip, and is usually acceptable for casual wine drinkers. If you’re looking for red wine glass ideas for your home, visit

What Is Acne Rosacea?

What is acne rosacea? Well it is not acne. The symptoms of acne and acne rosacea overlap, but they are distinct skin conditions… Acne rosacea affects the facial area and is most common in fair skinned women between the ages of 30 and 60. When men are affected by this skin disorder their symptoms are often particularly severe. Acne rosacea cannot be cured but the disease can be treated and controlled with the help of a dermatologist.

The early stages of acne rosacea are characterized by frequent reddening of the facial area. It is suspected that individuals who blush frequently are more susceptible to developing acne rosacea. If you have a history of frequent blushing, it may be difficult to distinguish between a normal blush and the beginnings of this skin disorder, since the redness of acne rosacea is intermittent in the early stages of the disease. If your blushing skin burns when you apply lotions or your face is swollen, you may be experiencing the early symptoms of acne rosacea. If you experience these symptoms and do not have a history of frequent blushing, you may need to seek acne rosacea treatment.

As the disease progresses the face become ruddier and is discolored more frequently. Small red solid bumps may begin to appear on the skin of the face. Visible blood vessels and pimples will also appear. Blackheads, a normal symptom of acne, do not appear with the pimples of an acne rosacea sufferer. In severe cases of this disease the skin of the face may thicken and the nose may become bulbous.

The eyes of fifty percent of acne rosacea suffers are affected by this disease. The eyelids become inflamed, and the eyes are red and irritated. Tearing and frequent sty’s are common when acne rosacea affect the eye area. In severe cases loss of vision may occur. When the eyes become infected, the treatment plan includes oral antibiotics and a strict eye cleansing routine. Steroid eye drops may also be prescribed.

There is no cure for this skin disorder but acne rosacea treatment includes topical antibiotics to reduce the skin inflammation and pimples. Other forms of acne rosacea treatment include oral antibiotics and long term topical therapy to keep outbreaks under control. Most doctors also realize acne rosacea treatment should also include assessment for depression since this disease is disfiguring and embarrassing to it’s’ victims.

Aggressive acne rosacea treatment also includes the use of lasers to remove visible blood vessels and reduce redness. Surgery may be indicated in cases where the nose has become disfigured.

Once diagnosed with acne rosacea, it is important to follow an acne rosacea skin care routine. Mild, non abrasive cleansers are recommended. The acne rosacea patient should not use rough cloths or extremely hot or cold water on their faces. Lukewarm water and soft cotton towels are the best options for acne rosacea skin care. Constant use of sun block, (SPF 15 or higher) should be used daily. Make up can be part of an acne rosacea skin care routine, if it does not further irritate the skin.

Currently there is research being conducted on this skin disorder. As the population ages, an increase in acne rosacea is expected. While there is no cure today, research may develop a cure tomorrow.

How To Be A Great Husband

One of the things I love most about being The Relationship Specialist is that I get to empower relationships. I particularly love to teach men how to be their best so that their women totally adore them. Most husbands fall into the good or poor categories. They aren’t very happy with themselves and their wives don’t like them very much either. Great husbands are few and far between.

However, great husbands are much happier and they enjoy a richer degree of life. So, what is the difference? Here are some of the essential principles for becoming a great husband:

1) Listen To Her Feelings. You might not understand or agree but listen. Most men argue or get frustrated. A great husband conveys unconditional support to his wife. He makes it safe for her to share all sides of herself. A wife who can freely express herself will not only feel safe but a great husband will make her feel special as well.

2) Spend Time With Her. Let your actions clearly show that your wife is your greatest priority. She needs to know that she is special to you. Most men choose sports, T.V. , hunting or fishing. You can have these things but if your wife doesn’t know she comes first in your life then she may resent your other pursuits.

3) Be Her Champion. Your wife needs to feel your strength and security. “I’m here for you” is the point you want to make. Despite other messages she may give you, women hate having to be in charge all of the time. Convey to your wife that your love for her is powerful and totally unconditional. Don’t let your message be weakened based on her moods or behavior. Great husbands stand by their wives no matter what.

4) Let Her Know That You Are Captivated By Her Beauty. Great husbands let their wives know that they only have eyes for her. You dilute the strength of your marriage when you let your eyes drift towards other women. How is she ever going to feel safe if she feels threatened by other women all of the time? Devote yourself to her. Don’t split your energy. Pour it all into her.

5) Being a Great Husband is not hard to do. It will take more of an effort but the rewards are enormous. You will feel so much better about yourself and your wife will go out of her way to fulfill the needs of your heart. Make an absolute commitment to be a Great Husband. In times of uncertainty or frustration, ask the question, “What would a Great Husband do?” This question will help you keep your direction and commitment. Strive to be great.

Soundproofing a condo or apartment from upstairs neighbors. Here are some of our favourite websites to check out:

How do I soundproof my condo or apartment from my noisy neighbors upstairs? This is by far the most asked question I hear on a daily basis. It is a question asked by prominent architects, engineers, major developers, and contractors. We are now finding that this is also of major concern of individual homeowners who rent part of their house to tenants. Many factors need to be considered when assessing an upstairs noise issue. The first question you should ask is simply this, is the problem impact noise, or airborne noise (TV’s, Stereos, telephones etc.) coming down from above. Nine times out of ten, impact noise is the main concern. What is impact noise? It is the noise caused by people or animals walking across the floor above (generally hardwood). This type of noise is considered to be structure borne noise and is one of the most difficult noises there is to soundproof from. Impact noise is basically sound that travels directly through the joisting structure from the floor above, directly into the hard mounted ceiling below. Another term for this is known as “foot fall “noise. Impact noise travels through the floor joists structure at speeds of over 1200 times greater than the transmission of sound traveling through ambient air. Keep in mind that most home joist systems as well as studded walls are generally 16 inches on center, so not only do you get the speed of the impact noise shooting downward, but the perfectly spaced joists act as tuning forks thus causing the sound to sustain (last longer) compounding the impact problem. The best and most effective way to stop impact noise from above is to isolate the joist structure and the floor above (which is generally hardwood) from the ceiling below. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. The most common is to float (suspend on acoustical sound clips or resilient channels) the ceiling using either resilient isolation clips and furring channels (hat channel) or the most common method of floating, RC-1 (resilient channel). The good, the bad, and the ugly of both these methods will be discussed in depth. First we have the industry standard, which is RC-1 or resilient channel. This is a flanged Z channel (generally with only one flange that attaches to the joist) and a larger flange to support the floated drywall ceiling. RC-1 can be purchased from a drywall supply company, or a contractors supply house. The resilient channels are usually attached perpendicular to the joists and the rows are evenly spaced approximately 2′ to 3′ apart. The longer flange (of resilient channels) in a ceiling application will all face the same direction to obtain maximum resilience in the new ceiling assembly. Remember, that the longer flange is the one the drywall screws into. Always use screws when you drywall, never use nails. Once the RC-1 is properly installed across the entire ceiling, you are ready to drywall. The new drywall will be screwed directly through the drywall and into the resilient channel’s (longer) 1″ flange. You will use 1 to 1½” self-tapping drywall screws or in rare cases, sheet metal screws. If the resilient (floated ceiling) is installed as per manufacturers instructions, there will be approximately a ¼” gap around the entire perimeter of the new floated ceiling. The floated ceiling must never make direct contact with the adjoining walls. This is NOT negotiable folks. The ¼” gap is then filled with an acoustical caulking, (OSI 175 is a good caulk for this application) and then finally the new ceiling will be taped, mudded, and painted just like a like a hard attached joist mounted drywall installation. The caulk is the interface between the resilient ceiling and the adjoining walls. There you have it, the common mans floated ceiling.

Now if you are really serious about soundproofing your ceiling, you have the sound clip and furring channel method of floating. This installation is quite similar to the RC-1 installation, however, the sound clips system will more than double the soundproofing and impact isolation protection of a perfectly installed RC-1 system. Basically you will need one sound clip for every 4 sq ft of ceiling area. For example, if your ceiling is 400 sq. ft. total, you will need 100 sound clips to complete the installation. Check with the manufacturers installations instructions for more detailed installation information. Once you have the sound clips screwed to the joists, you will then snap in the furring channel. We haven’t talked much about metal furring channels or “hat” channel, as they are commonly called, so let me briefly describe this material. Furring channel, or hat channel is a galvanized steel channel that is 7/8″ in height and measures 2 3/8″ from flange to flange. When using furring channels in conjunction with sound clips, you always want to purchase the 25 gauge channels as opposed to the 20 gauge, which is too stiff for this application. The furring channel will be compressed by hand and will snap perfectly into the joist mounted sound clips. The channel rows will be spaced from 2′ to 3′ apart (check installation instructions). The first row will begin about 4″ from the adjoining wall and then each row will be spaced from 2′ to 3′ apart. Now comes the fun part! You will screw the new drywall directly into the furring channel, keeping the screw as close to the center of the hat channel as possible. If the drywall meets directly in the middle of a channel, make sure to stagger the screws down the length of the drywalls (alternate them one each side of the seam). Now, just like with the RC-1 installation, you must maintain a ¼” gap around the perimeter of the newly floated ceiling assembly where the drywall does not touch the adjoining walls. Once again, this area will be sealed with the OSI-175 acoustical caulking material, and you will tape, mud, and paint the ceiling as usual. There you have it folks, professional sound isolation at a fraction of the cost that the “Big Boys” charge. A good analogy of the floated ceiling method is to visualize your ceiling as being like a trampoline. The new ceiling must not contact the adjoining walls and thus it is free to do its resilient thing exclusively. Keep in mind that the impact isolation is accomplished at the sound clip and joist connection where there is a thick neoprene rubber grommet on the clip that breaks the circuit between the sub floor above and the newly floated ceiling.

Lastly, if you are able to float 2 layers of drywall on the sound clips, it is recommended that you use Green Glue sound dampening compound between the 2 layers of drywall. I hope this article has been informative and gives you hope that you can indeed soundproof you apartment or condo from those stomping neighbors upstairs.
