Writing Articles - Can put money in your pocket

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Writing articles has one purpose and that is to generate traffic, not to be written as a sales letter.

Writing and submitting articles can generate huge amounts of traffic and create a very nice income for you, if done correctly.

If you are starting a Home Business and want to make money online than articles are the way to go. Why? Because

traffic generated from submitting articles is all targeted traffic. Because those who search online for information click on your article are searching for what you have to offer.

To see the amounts of traffic and sells needed to become successful online you must write at least one article a day.

More the better you must have at least 200 or more articles submitted to top quality article Directories before you start seeing results from your efforts.

The process is slow at first and than in about six months you’ll start to notice an increase in traffic and sells generated from all those articles you have submitted.

Just stay focused and continue writing more and more articles and you’ll reap the rewards later, in some cases for years to come.

There is money to be made writing and submitting articles. If you don’t give up and quit.

If you are looking for a quick buck, writing and submitting articles is not the answer. You must be committed for the long haul. And sooner or later you’ll profit big.

NOTE: Work hard now and relax later. Or work hard all your life and have nothing to show for it.

Tips for Guaranteed Healthy and Fast Weight Loss

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Almost everybody, at some point in their of life, has experienced weight-related problems. Most of us, women and men alike, are not content with what we see. We feel that unless we are wafer thin like the models and celebrities we see on television and magazines, we will never be attractive and beautiful.

On the other hand, there are an increasing number of obese individuals across the world. Becoming overweight has become a trend in both the West and East hemispheres. The increasing popularity of processed and fast foods have exacerbated the obesity situation.

There are many diseases related to being overweight, such as hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea, coronary heart disease, to name a few. Thus, you need to find ways to incorporate weight loss activities and good eating habits to our daily routine.

Before you start any type of diet, however, you need to go to a physician first. The doctor will tell you if your weight loss plan is appropriate for your health condition. Furthermore, the physician will also assist you in determining if you really need to lose weight and how much weight you need to shed. Many people develop eating disorders because they do not visit a doctor before drastically changing their eating habits and starting a diet plan.

If you want to lose weight fast, healthy and permanently, you need to follow the tips below.

Maintain a balanced diet

The reason why many people are overweight is partly due to an unbalanced diet. If you eat too much from one food group, you won’t be able to get the vitamins and nutrients that your body need.

A balanced diet is composed of protein, dairy food, a little bit of fat from healthy oil, fruit and vegetables, and good carbohydrates — at least 5 portions every day. Many professionals suggest a diet that is composed of mostly carbohydrate, moderate protein intake, and a little bit of fat.

However, there are many diets espousing a huge amount of protein intake and a dramatic decrease in carbohydrates. Before you apply such diets to your daily routine, you need to talk with a physician first. This high-protein diet may not be ideal for some people, such as those with kidney disease.

Increase servings of fruit and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are good sources of vitamins and minerals that our body need. Such food supplies us with vitamin A that is good for our eyes, vitamin C that boosts our immune system, beta-carotene that helps protects our body from the damage of free radicals, and nutrients.

Most fruits and vegetables are high in fiber and low calorie, so they also help clean our colon and make us feel fuller. Canned fruits and vegetables are acceptable; however, there is no substitute for the real thing.

Stay away from junk food and sugar-loaded drinks

Try eliminating junk food and soda from your diet for a week or two, and you will surely feel and see the difference. Maybe the reason why it is called junk food is due to its poor nutritional value. Try looking at a junk food’s label, not only is it full of saturated fat, but also usually high in salt or sugar, or both.

Aside from water, most of the things you drink are also loaded with calories. Soda and sweetened fruit juices are mainly sugar. Thus, no matter how little you eat, but if you still drink lots of soda and sweetened beverages, you will still continue to gain weight.

Don’t skip breakfast

Even if you are in a hurry or late for work or school, you need to grab a bite. It would be better if your breakfast is healthy - probably an apple, oatmeal and a glass of nonfat milk.

If you miss breakfast, you most probably will feel hungrier the rest of the day. In order for our body function properly, we need energy from the food we eat. If you skip breakfast, or a meal or two, your body’s metabolism will slow down to compensate for the lack of energy supply.

More often than not, people who skip meals, particularly the first meal of the day, will binge later in the day. So, even if you skipped breakfast, you will have a tendency to eat a lot during lunch or dinner.

Start exercising

Many of us spend an extended number of hours in our offices. We get stuck sitting down in front of the computer for more than eight hours. When we get home, we spend another hour or two to check e-mails and chat with friends. Thus, we don’t expend most of the calories from the food we eat and those excess calories go straight to our belly, arms and thighs.

If you want to increase your metabolism, you must start exercising. Brisk walking is a good way to start your exercise routine. If you do not have time to go to the gym, you need to find ways to increase your activities. Try sports activities that you will enjoy - boxing, badminton, or spelunking. There are many to fat burning activities to choose from.

The tips above will not let you lose 10 pounds overnight. However, in the long run, such changes will help you become healthier and fitter. The weight loss you will experience will be more permanent.

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Getting a website is essential for business. Making a mistake could cost you money as well as lost reputation. We have put together 36 questions across 10 areas that you should as any hosting company before you purchase a website. How they answer these questions will determine if this is the right website solution for you.

Technical Support:

Technical support should be readily available. Your average hold time should not exceed a couple of minutes. If the hold time for support is long, this means that there are a lot of problems with the product or there support is understaffed.

1. How strong is their technical support division?
2. What do they provide?
3. When are they available?
4. Does tech support cost extra?

Security:

The website hosting servers should be hosted at a remote location with multiple backup across multiple locations. The servers should also be dual firewall protected. If the websites are hosted in this type of an environment, it means that you are protected against any power failure, natural disaster, or people trying to steal your information. You can check how many servers a company is hosting by asking them for the address of one of the companies they host. Then go to whois.sc http://whois.sc , and look up that name. Whois will tell you how many sites they are hosting. Use a company that is hosting several thousand websites.

5. How secure is the site?
6. What type of protection do they offer?
7. How can they insure that unauthorized users will not compromise the integrity of your Web site?

Storage:

The amount of storage your website hosting offers is related to how large your website can become. You want to make sure that you have enough space to not only to build your current website, but to expand in the future.

8. How much storage do they offer?

12. How long will it take?
13. Is there any extra cost to you?

Design:

There are 3 basic website design options. 1) Hire a web developer to design the entire website. 2) A template solution that is inexpensive, but modifications are limited. 3) A table based solution where the initial content is provided by the hosting company but everything including the entire layout can be changed. Make sure which type you are purchasing and if this is the correct solution for you.

14. Do they have a builder that you can manage easily?
15. What type of computer background do you need to design your site?
16. Do you have internal control over content and updates?

Email:

There are 2 types of email. The first is POP 3. This email type is attached to the domain name, and the email can be viewed from a web mail Internet browser window, or downloaded to a program such as Outlook or Eudora. The second email type is a forwarding address or email alias, where you have an email address that is @YourDomain is @YourDomain , but it forwards to a different email address. POP 3 is usually more desirable because you can view your email from a variety of applications, and it strengthens your company image.

17. How many email aliases comes with your package?
18. Will they have your domain name in them for a more professional appearance?
19. What is the cost to add extra emails?

21. Are search engine submissions included in your package?
22. How does it work?
23. Do you have internal control over content and updates?

Cost:

Make sure there are no hidden costs. Some companies will give you a low price knowing that they can charge you for additional services latter on.

24. What are the costs involved?
25. What are the initial setup fees and what do you get exactly?
26. What are the monthly maintenance fees are what do they cover?
27. Are there any additional charges?
28. If so, what are they and why?

Contract:

29. Am I locked into a contract?
31. May I cancel at anytime?
32. Are there any penalty fees for switching or closing my account?
33. What happens to my content?

Value:

34. What makes them better than their competition?
35. Do they offer extra features, storage space, better technical support?
36. What exactly sets them apart?

5 Ways To Increase Your Affiliate Sales

Friday, October 10th, 2008

There are certain ways of doing anything. When it comes to affiliate marketing in particular, you can choose to do it half-heartedly or you can go all-out and do it right. Work your affiliate programs by slamming a ton of banners on a page and waiting for the money to roll in is both a waste of your time and a disservice to the affiliate program owner you’re working for. You may as well not even do it.

Work your affiliate programs like they actually mean something to you and your business; with all your knowledge and effort, and you’re going to be on the road to collecting a good deal of commissions. Just like anything, there are ways of doing things that are going to prove to your web site or blog visitors that you are an expert at what you’re taking about. Use your expertise about the product you’re promoting and speak to them as a friend. After all, PRE-Selling a product is nothing more than being able to articulate how wonderful something is to someone else, as one trusted friend to another. It’s not a hard thing to learn, but is a skill you must master that is not being taught as widely as it needs to be. People want to be able to trust others. Cynicism runs rampant in the Internet marketing world. There are far too many scammers out there making us good guys look bad. You primary job is to be that one voice crying out in the wilderness that changes that cynicism to trust. It’s about being real and not a salesman. People can smell a salesman a mile away and they stink.

Here are 5 ways to work your affiliate marketing programs as an expert:

1. PRE-Sell - Find your own voice. Don’t write like everyone else. You do not want to come off as just another carbon-copy salesman. You need to convey to your visitors that you care about them (it helps if you do). You need to have a passion to truly help other people. That can be understood in how you write. Sincerity is a trait sorely lacking in Internet marketing. You need to learn the mandatory skill of writing to PRE-Sell. Your job is to PRE-Sell the product and it is the job of the stores’ landing pages to close the sale. Tell your visitors of your experiences and share stories. People appreciate being spoken to as an old friend sitting around the dining room table with a cup of coffee. Which lead to….

2. Have Product Experience - Whenever possible, own the product or work with the service you’re promoting. This allows you to speak as that expert with first-hand experience. Your passion for that fantastic product will shine through. You want your readers to get as excited as your are about the product. You’re not going to want to promote something that isn’t any good, no matter how high the commissions, right? Um….right?? This can only come by owner the product yourself. Plus, you’ll wind up with something really cool! ;)

3. Follow Your Niche - If you’re web site or blog that has to do with cellular phones, don’t join and promote an affiliate program for riding lawnmowers. You are not going to get your most wanted response that way, which is the click. Keep your subject matter and your affiliate programs in line with one another.

4. Deep Link - Let’s use the cell phone scenario and say that you’ve got a page or a blog entry about the Apple iPhone and you have an affiliate association with a large on-line cell phone store. When you’re figuring out which of their affiliate text links, banners or other creative to use, make sure you are able to deep link to the page or pages about Apple iPhones. You want to put your potential customer where they want to be. Don’t just link to the cell phone stores home page. That is like leading them out into the woods and then dumping them. Don’t make them search for that Apple iPhone information, lead them directly to it via your deep-linking affiliate link. That way will convert much better for you.

5. Work with The Affiliate Program Owners - They want to sell their products as much as you do. Even more. Don’t be afraid to contact them and voice your concerns, opinions and needs. Any affiliate program that is worth promoting will welcome your input. They will want to work with you. You’ll be able to tell who is worth working with and who is not. Do they have a large selection of creative to use? Do they offer attractive commission payouts (I tend not to take anything that pays out 2% of a sale or less) and long-term cookies? Do they allow deep linking with a bunch of pages to choose from? Is their affiliate program control center attractive and easy to use? Do they keep you informed via email about upcoming promotions and ways to help you make better conversions? If all that is being done, you should be working with them as best you can. They are obviously putting their best foot forward for you and their customers. If not, drop them and move on. They should always be there to help you in any way they can.

There you have it. Those are a few of the ways to work an affiliate program for all it’s worth. If you want the money (a no-brainer), learn all you can, work hard, work smart and don’t give up. Your failure or success is entirely dependent on you. Here’s to your success!

Feline Play Aggression

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Problems with aggression between cats, or between cats and humans, are fairly common. However, most animals with an aggressive behavior problem are not abnormal. In the majority of cases of feline aggression, the cat is just displaying normal species-specific behaviors, which becomes intolerable or even dangerous to humans in a household.

A complicated mixture of inheritance, learning, physiology and early experience dictate whether or not a particular cat will become aggressive. Complete knowledge of normal feline-specific behavior is crucial in diagnosing the different types of feline aggression. For example, a young kitten that hides behind corners and suddenly pounces with widely dilated eyes is exhibiting normal play behavior.

Medical causes for aggression should be pursued only if a cat exhibits behavior that is unusual for the particular cat, or behavior accompanied by abnormal clinical signs. If a cat that previously loved to be petted suddenly starts biting when stroked, you should look for a possible source of pain.

Play Aggression

Play aggression is defined as the stalking, chasing, pouncing, biting, and scratching behaviors, which normally occur when cats engage in play. Problems occur when these behaviors are directed against instead of with people in the household. These types of problems usually occur in households with a single cat under two-years old. However, the problems can also surface in homes where a younger cat is living with older cats that are not playful.

Another common cause for play aggression towards humans is when owners leave a single young cat alone for most of the day. Play aggression can also be triggered and reinforced by owners who insist on letting a cat attack their hands and feet.

Owners must learn to recognize the postures exhibited by cats engaging in problematic, as opposed to acceptable, play aggression. The typical play aggression cat will demonstrate predatory type of behaviors.

The cat will stalk the owners and pounce on moving body parts such as hands and feet. Growling and hissing usually does not occur, however, the cat’s pupils will be widely dilated. Bites and scratches inflicted during a play aggression attack are usually inhibited and not severe.

In many cases of play aggression, the easiest solution is to get another cat about the same age as the aggressive cat. Usually, a cat engaging in play aggression will prefer to play with the cat instead of with humans. The only risk in getting another cat is possibly adding territorial aggression to the problem.

Cats usually do not accept a new cat into their house without reaction. Introductions must be made slowly. You must also be willing to accept responsibility for another pet and the added expense and needed care. Personally, I prefer trying using behavior modification before introducing a new pet.

What to Look for in Archery Products

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

If you are a hunter or a target shooter, you are aware of the importance of acquiring the right archery products. I have been an archer for at least fifteen years, so I know what I am talking about. Before I had even tried different archery products, I was already making homemade bow and arrows for faux hunting. I really enjoyed that game. I never did hit a moving target, but I got pretty good at hitting tin cans from more then ten feet away in our backyard.

I had my first experience of how much difference using archery products can make in my first summer camp. They were just standard longbows, but after my stick and string contraptions, they were a big improvement to my archery experience.

When I got home from summer camp, I was very excited about getting some archery equipment of my own. After weeks of begging, my parents finally gave in, even though they were against any kind of hunting, shooting, or other violent acts against animals. In fact, they were able to buy me some serious archery products. They got me a composite bow, some professional quality arrows, and a sturdy archery quiver. However, my father made sure that I only used the archery products in a little shooting range that we set up in the backyard,

You should consider a few things before you purchase a set of archery products for your son. If your child is responsible, well supervised, and stable, then you can buy him some archery equipment. Remember that disturbed kids can do a lot of harm if you gave them weapons of any kind. You should also make sure that your son has a genuine interest in the sport of archery before you pay for an expensive set of archery products. Otherwise, you will just be wasting your money on some sports equipment that will just collect dust in the attic.

Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning Archery Products. Get more information by visiting www.sportsfitnesshome.com/sports–fitness/sports–fitness/what-to-look-for-in-archery-products.html http://www.sportsfitnesshome.com/sports–fitness/sports–fitness/what-to-look-for-in-archery-products.html .

Finding the Right Trainer for Your Dog or Puppy

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Getting the right trainer for your dog or puppy is critical in training your pet the way that you, as the owner, feel comfortable. A trainer is just like a teacher or a coach for children, if you don’t feel comfortable with how they are handling your pet you will not likely continue the training method at home which will lead to confusion and non-compliance with your dog. A good trainer or professional will always be willing to share their views on dog training as well as explain their methods and philosophy for training.

Points To Consider

Before deciding on the professional trainer to work with both yourself and you dog do a bit of research. The following questions are important to consider to be certain that the trainer that you choose will be the correct match.

1. What type of training does the kennel or trainer offer?

There are different types of trainers and various training methods. If you want a hunting dog or scent dog then the trainer should have experience in this type of specialization. Guard dogs or dogs for home protection require additional training over basic obedience and should only be trained by someone experienced with guard dog. Obedience training is different than event training and be sure the trainer has some experience in the area you are interested in.

2. What qualifications does the trainer have?

Trainers may be certified or recognized by a training association in your area or location, or they may simply have been working for a long period of time in the area and we well known by breeders and event competitors. Never be afraid to ask what qualifications or experience the trainer has.

3. What references are available?

Does the trainer have a list of references that he or she is willing to provide regarding the services they have provided. If the trainer has a certification ask what agencies granted it and do a bit of research. References should be local people or breeders and they should be open to talking about their experiences and results of using the particular trainer.

4. How should I find a trainer?

There are many different ways to locate a trainer. One of the best ways to locate a trainer in your area is to simply ask your veterinarian which professional trainer they recommend. Another option is to talk to other dog owners, especially ones with well-behaved dogs, and find out what trainers or training methods that they have used.

Attending dog shows and other events may also be helpful. Watch for handlers and owners that respond to their dogs the same way that you would like to have your dog treated and ask who has assisted with the training.

Dog owners tend to be very good references and are always happy to discuss a positive experience with a trainer. Equally most dog owners will also indicate that they had an unpleasant experience if that is the case. Remember that each trainer has their own unique style and personality so attending one or two classes and watching how the trainer responds to both the people and the dogs is a great way to get an insight into the philosophy of the training methods.

A History Of Heels

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

High heels have been around for a very long time. Though they are not the epitome of sophistication and womanly sexiness, they have been serving similar purposed for men and for women for a long time. High heeled shoes are depicted in ancient Egyptian art in murals but the first history of heels goes back even further. The Egyptian depictions took place around 4000 BC and showed images of people wearing high heels in murals on the walls of ancient tombs and temples. The shoes depicted were flexible pieces of leather held on the foot with leather lacings. The next incarnation was a sort of platform sandal in 200 BC. These platform sandals were called kothorni. They had high wood soles and were used predominantly by tragic Roman actors. The kothorni were utilized mostly to give the advantage of height. Next, in 1000 CE the tradition came into play that the father of the bride in a Saxon wedding would give one of the bride’s shoes to the groom in order to symbolize the passing of authority from one man to another.

Shoes were not always simply for the purpose off beauty nor were they always simply functional. In 1154 King Henry II of England began to wear a shoe with narrow and pointed toes. This started a trend among the courtiers even though it was rumored that Henry wore these shoes in order to hide a deformation of his toes. In the 12th century CE, knights began to wear shoes with downward curving toes in order to keep their feet in the stirrups of their horses. Shoe toes were a big point of contention. It came to a point in the early thirteenth century where the length and pointed extremes of one’s shoes were directly indicative of rank and prowess within a community. Kings and princes would wear shoes with toes up to 30 inches long!

The women’s’ obsession with shoes doesn’t begin in any modern form until the mid 18th century with Madame de Pompadour and Marie Antoinette who start trends in their courts regarding footwear. Madame de Pompadour made popular shoes that were named after her “Pompadour”. Unfortunately these shoes were very high and very narrow and too many ladies fainted at court because they tried to reduce the apparent size of their feet. Marie Antoinette went to her death in two inch heels less than 50 years later.

Converting Normal Web-Site Traffic into Customers

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Your regular, average web-site surfer is in need of stimulation. They view your website as a means of information and a place to possibly buy. The million pound question is, “How do I turn the average web-site surfer into a paying customer?” The answer is that you have to form a buyer-consumer relationship.

If you take a look at well-known web-sites such as, eBay, Microsoft, Dell, Amazon they have the benefit of several factors: name recognition, brand recognition and marketing. They also have intangible assets such as goodwill, trust and loyalty. They were able to achieve this through their marketing and offering products and invaluable services such as their technical support, streamlined selling and buying solutions and customer interaction.

These same techniques can be applied to your website. Your website has to offer something of value to your customers or else they won’t stay for long or buy anything. In order to do this a trust relationship has to be established. As a webmaster you achieve this by designing, planning and implementing a well thought out website and the message you wish to convey.

Here are core elements in the presentation and creation of your website:

* Frequent testing to ensure unbroken links
* Frequent and updated content
* Complaints Policy
* Written Guarantee on Products/Services
* Company Information
* Real Address
* Real Phone Number
* If deemed beneficial ‘About Management’ ‘About Staff’
* Support
* 0800 or free phone number
* Easy access to ordering
* Easy checkout and easy cart update
* Privacy Policy
* FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)
* Easy to navigate website
* Proper presentation of facts, information or product data (no spelling errors)

People who are looking for a particular product or service need to automatically be able to ‘trust’ your website. Anything that casts doubt will result in those potential customers leaving your website.If you take a look at the design of eBay, Amazon or Microsoft they make it easy for you to find the product, service or information you require. Take a look at how their web-pages naturally flow and if you encounter a broken link or don’t find what you’re looking for right away, this same feeling of frustration is the same feeling your customers will have.

Bear in mind that those people coming to your web-site are there because: a friend recommended them, they saw/read/heard your ad, looked in a search engine or found you in the Yellow Pages. They are at your site because they have been told that you (your web-site) can solve a particular problem they are having.

Help them out by making your web-site as easy to navigate and having the ability to purchase anything (credit cards, Freestart, PayPal or WorldPay). Also make it easy for them to ask a question and get back to them within 24 hours of their request. Make it easy for them to call and get a real human being. Nothing will have a customer leave than having no or limited access to a real person especially if they have shipping or credit card questions.

Testing your web-site especially where customer ordering is concerned will greatly speed up their buying and increase your sales. Imagine if you order several products on another web-site and you were going to checkout, only to find that their credit card or shipping or web-page wasn’t accessing or loading properly. What would you feel? Disgust, frustration or worse, you just go to another competitor’s website and you buy from them. These same considerations exist for your customer. Test your ecommerce system to ensure it is working. Test the checkout and cart process to ensure that someone who wants to continue to shop can do so or someone who wants to checkout can do so easily.

Your job as an on-line vendor is to ensure that the shopping and buying experience contains very little or no barriers to buying. If any of these contain the slightest hint of doubt or conveys a lack of credibility your customer is going to look elsewhere for the same products. Worse, they will tell some friends that they really had a bad experience at your web-site.

American Obesity : Portions Gone Wild

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I used to be one of those people who did not like to go to the higher end, gourmet or healthy restaurants. It wasn’t because I didn’t like the food, or that the atmosphere was not to my liking, it was because they served, in what had become my Americanized idea of meal size, skimpy portions .

However, the older I got, and the more educated I became on nutrition and healthy eating, I realized that these gourmet restaurants had it all right. Instead of focusing on quantity, they focused more on quality, and limited the portions on the plate to what was actually a healthy, moderate calorie count.

The American ideal of the bigger the better spilled over into our food consumption and portion rationing at meals not too long ago actually. After the great depression era, when Americans started to regain control over their finances, and foods and luxury items became more affordable, our portion sizes began to expand. Obesity still existed before this point, but since then it has spun out of control.

Obesity has also taken a turn for the worse because not only are the portion sizes getting bigger, but the foods we eat are higher in fat, sodium and sugars, a result of excessive processing and chemical additives, which build up in our system and cause obesity, diabetes, heart disease, mood disorders and countless other health issues which stem from excess weight.

In fact, chefs from some of the most popular American restaurants were recently surveyed, and reported that calorie count was the least of their concerns when they created signature dishes for the restaurants they worked for.

About one in six said that they even considered the calorie count aspect. They based their creations on flavor instead, casting aside portion size and fat content, etc., all of which add to the calorie count of a meal.

What can you do to avoid overeating if you frequent restaurants? Make sure you fill up on the salad, and get a low fat dressing, which can cut up to 100 calories from your meal many times. Unless you are going to a health food restaurant, or one that you know serves smaller, more controlled portions, you probably should not be finishing your meal. Take your time eating. Do not inhale your food.

Did you know that it takes your mind about 20 minutes to reigster that you are full? This is why many times you will feel just satisfied and pleasantly fulfilled when you finish a meal, and then about twenty minutes to a half hour later you feel ridiculously stuffed.

Ask for a box to take the rest home. This way, you will also not regret eating that big meal, and also will not be dealing with the effects of overeating, like sleepiness, mental fogginess, indigestion, gas pains, and cramping. It’s a win/win situation.

The increasing obesity epidemic has gotten so out of control that we now have gastric bypass surgery, which thousand of obese Americans elect to have each year, even though the surgery is extremely serious and many times life threatening. This is in direct response to a culture that grew up being under educated about portion control and wise food choices.

Many individuals in the baby boom era were not educated to the extent we are today about nutrition, how certain fats protect organs and well being, and others aid in their destruction, the effects of sugars on the body, and the effects of excess calorie consumption.

Most health professionals are hoping that the improved health and nutrition education available to the general public today will eventually whittle away at the obesity epidemic by making generation after generation more educated and armed with the knowledge they need to lead a healthy lifestyle.

So, what will happen in the future regarding health awareness and education? It’s been in the news lately that the government is actually stepping in as a proactive measure against further obesity and health issues. Government officials recently tried to ban trans fats from being used in restaurant cooking.

The NFL also has stepped in to band against childhood obesity by educating youths in schools about exercise and proper diet, and are also campaigning for reform in the public school’s physical education classes, since it was found that gym class typically involves less than 20 minutes of actual physical activity.

With all of these changes going on, and a growing awareness in the American public about nutrition, portion control, calorie consumption and healthy food choices, one can only be optimistic about the future health of America.

Can we eliminate obesity all together? Of course not, but if we can put a big dent in it, this will be hug victory in our collective health, longevity and prosperity.
