Choosing the right vendor is second to choosing the right spouse. Vendors are the reason events come off properly or not.

In America, the average wedding costs $27,852. For most couples, this is the largest event you will ever host. It is the most money you will ever spend, for ONE day, on products and services you have never used, with people you have never met.

Your wedding vendors. The people you choose to handle the finest of details for the largest, most meaningful event of your lives. Your wedding day.

The first thing to remember is that the vendor is not your adversary. Wedding vendors are professionals in their fields. The vendor is a businessperson, in business to make a profit. Hire vendors who have experience in the field. New vendors may be more affordable but they will offer less value.

When interviewing vendors, you must be very clear about your vision for your wedding. Offer pictures, fabric swatches, etc. to communicate your vision.

Look at photos of past events. Are they tasteful, original, with various themes? You want to choose a vendor who can create your vision, not a cookie cutter version of their past events.

You must be very up front about your budget. How much can you, are you, willing to spend on his or her service? Most vendors have handled events of varying budgets.

Hiring on price alone can be a disaster. Dare your vendor to be creative in ways to create your vision on your budget. Ask what else they can offer to add value to their service. For example, a florist may add free greenery, fruit or ribbon, to enhance your simple bouquet.

Do not hire the first vendor you talk to. Interview at least three in a given category. Do not be afraid to walk away if a vendor cannot, or, is unwilling to work within your budget. Let your vendor work to get your business by offering more value to their service.

Get referrals. Get referrals from recently married couples. When attending other weddings, take mental notes of what you like and do not like. Ask for and call at least three references. Choose vendors that you can work without throughout the planning process. With some vendors, such as photographers, you will spend the majority of your wedding day together. Choose someone you like personally, and who you feel has your best interests in mind.

Make your vendor a partner in your big day. A happy vendor = a happy couple.

Cheers!

Some dog owners believe that a dog is a dog, and that his place is on the floor exclusively. Some feel that he is a member of the family, and that he should be allowed up on chairs or sofas if he feels like it. And there are attitudes in between that may dictate permission for him to get up on one favorite chair. Generally the split is between country and city, with country dogs being relegated to the floor and city dogs having the run of the place.

If he is going to be strictly a floor dog, then he should never be allowed up on any piece of furniture, right from the start. Being up on the couch with you or solo hold little distinction for him and it will only confuse him later if you deny him the privilege. When he is little, he won’t be able to negotiate the height, so there is no problem with him climbing up.

As he grows and investigates, he will try to climb up just to see what is there. Push him off gently and tell him no a few times and he will get the idea. Later he may try to occupy it while you are out of the house. An easy solution to train him is a few light mousetraps covered with a sheet or newspaper set near the back of the cushion. The trap can’t hurt him and the snapping noise will solve the problem.

If you decide that he is going to be a full member of the household with all privileges, the problems are only those of dirt and reactions. As for dirt, he should be trained to wait at the door for a quick cleaning with an old rag after he has been out of doors. By the time he is old enough to climb onto chairs easily he will be old enough to have learned the sit and stay and there ends the problem.

As far as reactions go, this is really something between you and your friends. Somewhat fastidious friends who come to visit may find dogs on furniture disagreeable, particularly if the dog has to be shooed off of the chair they are about to sit in. If he is a chair sitter in your house, he may try to be one when he goes visiting with you. So set up a rigid rule for him - okay at home, forbidden elsewhere, and don’t make exceptions and he won’t be likely to be confused.

If you own a digital camera, you have probably taken at least a few photos that you think others would like. Did you know that it’s quite easy to make money with most any digicam - even a low-end point and shoot? Well, it is, and I’m going to tell you how to get started!

You don’t need to be an experienced professional photographer to start earning money with your digital camera. And you certainly don’t need a bunch of expensive photographic equipment. All you really need in order to earn some extra cash - and possibly even a good living - is a decent digital camera, an active imagination and a little practice.

First, let’s discuss the practice part. Get out and start taking a bunch of pictures. Take pictures of anything and everything you see including landscapes, buildings, automobiles, animals, people…well, you get the picture. Take pictures of everything, even things that might seem boring or uninteresting.

The key to getting several great pictures every time you pick up your camera is to take a boatload of them! In fact, I fill up my camera’s 2 GB memory card virtually every day. That’s 569 high-resolution images per day! Out of that many pictures, I almost always have several “keepers”. Of course the advent of digital cameras has made it very easy and inexpensive to take tons of pictures any time you want to.

Be sure to spend some time “learning your camera” as you take your practice shots. Practice using the different settings and “picture taking modes” available on your particular camera model so that you’ll be prepared to capture the best images possible under a wide variety of conditions. For example, low-light photography, action photography (sports) and portraits all require different skills and varying camera settings in order to produce the best results.

After you have become familiar with your camera and feel confident about using its various settings, it’s time to start making some money. Studio portrait photography probably isn’t an option unless you already own (or are willing to buy) the proper equipment. This includes a high-quality camera and lens, lighting equipment, backgrounds, etc. But there are plenty of other types of photography you can make money at with nothing but your quality digicam. For example, you can take pictures at birthday parties, amateur sporting events, family reunions and many other types of social events. You can also take pictures of local landmarks and tourist attractions and sell them on eBay or even your own website. The opportunities for making money by taking pictures is limited only by your imagination!

Regardless of the types of photographs you plan to take, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

1 - Always take plenty of pictures. If you max out your memory card, you’re virtually guaranteed to have several great pictures that your client will be happy to pay you for.

2 - Take pictures from several different angles and with varying camera settings. It will do you no good to take 500 pictures at a birthday party if they are all exactly alike!

3 - Anticipate where the action is going to be and be there yourself when it happens. For example, if you’re taking pictures at little Johnny’s first Pee-Wee football game, make sure you’re in the best spot to get a good picture when he scores a touchdown.

4 - Always be practicing with your camera and learning new photographic skills. Spend some time online keeping up with the most popular photography forums as well as the numerous photography help websites.

5 - Submit some of your best photos for display on several photography websites such as TodaysPhoto.org. You’ll receive plenty of free exposure for your work resulting in more business.

Conclusion: You really can turn your photography hobby into a money-making venture. And who knows, you just might find that you can do it full-time and kiss your day job goodbye!

Rick Rouse is the owner of TodaysPhoto.org. Visit him and submit your own photos to be considered for use as a “Picture Of The Day” at www.todaysphoto.org http://www.todaysphoto.org .

AP - A Swiss-led, five-nation panel proposed Thursday that the United Nations assert itself as leader of a global fight against terrorism and establish a new agency or program to coordinate that effort.

An air purifier is an appliance used for cleaning air indoors and they are used in homes, commercial buildings, industrial workplaces etc. The application of air purifiers is usually in places which tend to have unhealthy air due to pets, molds, pollutants, smoke or industrial work, hazardous materials etc. Air purifiers are also popular in homes of allergic people and asthmatics who wish to keep the air healthy in their homes. They are also popular due to the fact that the air inside homes is less healthy than the air outside.

Since people spend a significant amount of time indoors having an air purifier is healthy.

Allergic applications

Air purifiers are most popular for asthmatics and allergic people and they work by keeping allergens and triggers out of the air in homes. Allergens or triggers can be dust, pollen, mold spores, fungus, pet hair, smoke particles, airborne gases etc.

Functioning

Air purifiers employ various techniques for air purification like absorbents, ionizers, mechanical filters etc. Absorbents can be in the form of activated charcoal and ionizers can be in the form of electrostatic chargers. Some air purifiers have additional systems like germ killing UV light, ionizer for neutralizing contaminants.

HEPA filters

HEPA is an acronym for High Efficiency Particulate Air. HEPA filters are very popular for air purifiers. Before being designated as HEPA, air purifiers must meet very stringent requirements as laid down by the Department of Energy. HEPA filters should remove at least 99.97 % of air borne particles of 0.3 micron size at 85 liters per minute rate. However HEPA filters are very expensive and replacing the filter in the purifier may cost as much as the purifier itself. Further HEPA filters cannot remove gases or odors from the air. For removing gases absorbent type of air purifiers are suitable.

Ozone

Some Ionic air purifiers produce ozone in the delivered air. Ozone can be dangerous at higher concentration, which is the cause of a controversy. However ionic air purifiers are associated with healthy air environments such as waterfalls, mountains etc, since these places have a negative ion concentration as in ionic air purifiers. An ionic air purifier in conjunction with an air filtration system is suited for most purposes.

What to look for

Customers usually look for aesthetic appeal, noise levels, size of the equipment, frequency of filter replacement, electricity consumption, air delivery rate etc. Most of the filters can be cleaned easily by vacuuming, by water or by hand. The filters may need replacement anywhere between months to a few years depending upon the type of air purifier.

There are plenty of people out there who’ve written a book. Maybe you’re one of them. Maybe you’ve thought of trying to get it published, (not on the internet, but with a real, live, bricks-and-mortar publisher). OK. First step? You need advice. You trot along to your local bookshop and start looking along the shelves until you find titles like ‘Getting Published for Dummies’ and ‘Seeing Your Book in Print for Complete Fools’. Trouble is, there is no way on earth that anybody can write a formula for getting your book published by Traditional Publishers that works every time, and you will be sorely disappointed.

You see, getting published generally falls into three stages. First is Writing the Book. Ah, right now, you’ve hit problems. Sure, the advice ‘for dummies’ will be all about Plot, and Tone, and Point of View, but the fact is that this will vary according to what you want to write. If it’s a hard-boiled detective mystery, you might choose to have tough, no-nonsense characters from the streets, talking in the local argot, swearing and blaspheming their way through life. If you want to create a Mills and Boon romance, on the other hand, you need to drop the bad language, the ‘attitude’, and find some sympathetic people with everyday problems to write about. So, when the advice is ‘Make sure your dialogue is sparkling, witty and pithy’, who are we talking about here? Does that advice apply to the type of story you’re trying to create? When the advice is ‘Keep your descriptions short and to the point’, does that work every time, in every situation? No, the ‘advice’ is way, way too general, well-meaning, and, ultimately, vague and inappropriate.

Writers who find their way through this maze will then have to move on to Stage Two. This involves Preparing your Manuscript for Publication. Ah, now we are on much safer ground. This is the one time in the whole process when you can be absolutely accurate about what to do. The fact is that every publisher will want to see a manuscript neatly typed, with no spelling mistakes, on one side of A4 only, and with separated pages. That’s right. No ifs, no buts. Don’t think you can send in your handwritten material - it won’t get looked at, and don’t think you can print on both sides of the page to save paper. They won’t accept it. These are ‘Rules’ that we can all agree on. For once.

Now we move on to Stage 3, Submitting your Manuscript to Publishers. Which publishers? This is where the advice gets kind of vague. ‘Choose a suitable publisher’ seems fairly easy to understand. Don’t send your novel about drug-fuelled crime warlords to Mills and Boon, but don’t send them the one about gay cowboys either! After that, it’s hard to tell. You can look in your local bookshop (again) and see what each publisher has out now, but don’t forget that these ‘new’ books were over a year in the making. What that publisher is looking at today may be completely different to what they published then. So, it’s rather hit and miss, then? Yes, it is, and the ‘Dummies’ book will be full of true, but rather unhelpful anecdotes, about how various authors got published, often against the odds and unexpectedly. At the end of the day, you can ‘try and try again’. Maybe it will work.

No, most authors are not ‘Dummies’ and don’t need to be lectured at. But reading a book about getting published by Traditional Publishers is a bit like reading a book on ‘Roulette for Dummies’ or, you know, that really good one on ‘Winning the Lottery Without even Having to Buy a Ticket’. If you want something more certain, take your manuscript and log on to a print-on-demand site like Lulu.com where you can upload your material, print off a few copies and make a start on ‘being a published author’, not least because yes, you do then have a book in print. After that, it will be less nerve-racking taking the traditional route and posting off your precious creation to publishers, because at least you will have had the feeling of what it’s like to hold a book in your hand with your name on the cover and your story on the pages. Traditional Publishers can’t guarantee that will happen - ever - and no advice for would-be authors, however well-meaning, can ensure success either. Only the internet can, and that applies to everybody, ‘dummy’ or normal person.

Overview

Incomplete User Documents disappoint your Readers. Two attitudes of many Technical Writers result in incomplete User Documents. These two attitudes are:

. Everyone Knows That , and

. The User Can Figure It Out

This article describes these attitudes and presents methods for overcoming them. The result is more effective User Documents and more satisfied Users.

1. Everyone Knows That

The Everyone Knows That attitude makes assumptions about your Reader’s knowledge. These assumptions cause your Reader grief.

Here’s an example of a possible Everyone Knows That. Do you know this:

Tomatoes. Most of us keep them in a refrigerator. However, storing them in a refrigerator will ruin the taste and nutrition of tomatoes. Tomatoes should be stored on a kitchen counter at room temperature, until they are cut. Once cut, tomatoes should then be stored in the refrigerator.

Does everyone know that? What do you assume that everyone knows about your product?

Sometimes your User Documents have to overcome previous User experience. Everyone thinks that they know how to properly (safely) shut off a barbecue…they don’t! The safe shutdown method is described in most barbecue User Documents, but it is not advertised (forcefully presented) in the User Documents.

It’s rarely true that Everyone Knows That . Just because you find something to be obvious, it does not mean everyone knows that something.

Here’s another example: How do you use a (combined product — ‘2 in one’) shampoo and hair conditioner? When shampooing, the shampoo is massaged into the scalp and immediately rinsed. When conditioning the hair, the conditioner is massaged into the hair, and remains on the hair for about two minutes. Now, what do the Users do for the combined product: rinse quickly, or let the product remain in the hair?

If you have the Everyone Knows That attitude when you write, you will tend to leave out needed material from your User Document. You will be doing a disservice to your Readers, and to your writing.

When in doubt whether everyone knows something, assume that they do not. Then,

. add some text explaining the topic, or

. tell the Reader where to find information that will explain the topic

Another Caution

Be careful about assuming that just because you explained something earlier in your User Document, your Reader will remember (or even have read) that information. It is rare for Users to read product documentation from start to finish.

When in doubt, add a reference to that earlier (background) information. Tell your Reader where to find it, or provide a link to it if your document is electronic.

Here’s a Thought Experiment: You are a User of products: How often do you read the product documentation from start to finish? If you always do, then ask some other people. (The great thing about this fact — that Users do not read the documentation from start to finish — is that it results in great flexibility in writing, formatting and editing the product documentation.)

2. The User Can Figure It Out

The User does not want to have to figure things out. The User is not reading a mystery novel or any other literature, where he/she wants to think about what is happening.

When someone uses your product, they are using it to meet their own needs. Your product may be central to your life, but to your Users, your product is a means to an end. And they do not want to have to decipher your product documentation.

Here’s a simple example. An e-mail tells you to call someone, but the message leaves out the phone number. You are expected to find the phone number on your own. The writer probably knew the phone number, but left it out. This information oversight gets expensive within a company when the e-mail is sent to many employees…each looking up the phone number on his/her own.

My favorite pet peeve: dates. Within recent memory we survived the Year-2000 transition. Yet we still write dates sloppily. We use 06 for a year, instead of 2006. When we see things like 07/11/04 what is the date it is referring to? Is it November 4, 2007, April 11, 2007, or some other permutation of the numbers. The standards for the format of dates vary around the world. This is an example of both assumptions:

. everyone knows that (because there is a standard date format — there is not), and

. the User can figure it out (by seeing if my other dates provide clues to the format)

Don’t leave things for the User/Reader to figure out for themselves. It takes you only a few moments to include the material your Reader needs, and will save many Readers many hours in figuring things out.

Do It:

The writing literature tells you to know your Reader. Here is where you use that knowledge to improve your writing.

Either

. find someone who is like your intended Reader, or

. do your best to act like your intended Reader (you can do it if you need to)

In reading and evaluating the document, look for places where

. the writing assumes that everyone knows that

. the writing expects the Reader to be able to figure it out

. the writing makes jumps that your Reader cannot follow

. the writing makes the assumption that the Reader has read and remembered the entire document

Fix these places. It only takes a few words or sentences.

Everyone will be happier.

Nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Seabiscuit is based on the inspirational true story of an underdog who rises to victory and wins the hearts and minds of a nation. Directed by Gary Ross, creator of such hit films as Big (1988), Dave (1993), and Pleasantville (1998), the film is a family-oriented form of entertainment guaranteed to spike your adrenaline level. With narration by two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author David McCullough, Seabiscuit combines the best of dramatic storytelling with the historical significance of a History Channel documentary. Based on the bestselling book by Laura Hillenbrand, it’s set in Depression-era America where an unorthodox racehorse named Seabiscuit captures the popular imagination of underdogs everywhere…

Seabiscuit follows the life of wealthy automobile magnate Charles Howard (Jeff Bridges) whose personal life disintegrates following the death of his son. Divorced, he meets his soul mate Marcela (Elizabeth Banks). The two get married, and Howard is soon infected with her love for horses. Searching for a new challenge, the Howards decide to purchase a racehorse. Immediately, Howard encounters Tom Smith (Chris Cooper), a man with an unusual talent for dealing with horses. Impressed with Tom’s expertise, Howard hires him to train a racehorse.

Letting Tom guide the search for the best horse, the two settle on Seabiscuit, a defiant and untamed free spirit dismissed by others as a lost cause. Soon thereafter, Howard hires the only jockey with the grit and moxie to handle Seabiscuit, Red Pollard (Tobey Maguire). With an undersized horse, an oversized jockey, and an unproven trainer, the three men combine to form the best race teams on the West Coast. In race after race, they capture the imagination of local thoroughbred racing aficionados. As the wins mount up, Howard decides to launch Seabiscuit on a cross country tour. His goal is to have Seabiscuit facedown the best racehorses on the East Coast, and one horse in particular - the undefeated reigning champion and Triple Crown winner, War Admiral.

Leveraging the media, Howard maneuvers to create a Seabiscuit/War Admiral one-on-one showdown. But as the race nears, injuries to both Seabiscuit and Red force both man and horse to overcome the greatest of odds. Reaching deep within, each must summon the courage to rise to their respective challenges. And what they achieve is nothing short of legendary…

An inspiring tale of unyielding perseverance and tremendous courage, Seabiscuit is certain to stir emotions in every viewer. Knowing the film is a catalogue of actual events forces the audience to its feet in fanatical support of characters who, like each of us, may not always be the best or fanciest specimen in the race, but nevertheless press on with a “never quit” attitude. A story that embodies the best and most noble qualities of the human spirit, Seabiscuit is great entertainment certain to be loved by idealists from age one to one-hundred and one.

The credit rating of a borrower is a deciding factor for the approval of a loan. Adverse credit can lead to a bad impact on the lender such that he may reject the loan. In such situations, the best option is to go for adverse credit secured loans.

Adverse credit may be a result of missed repayments, CCJs, defaults, arrears, or a bad credit score. A detailed credit report can be obtained by a borrower free of cost by agencies like Fair Isaac Credit Organisation. In the FICO credit scale, a score of less than 600 is considered to be bad. Borrowers having a credit score less than 580 are considered to be more of a risk to lend money. But this is not a problem with adverse credit secured loans.

Adverse credit secured loans can be used for any purpose of the borrower like home improvement, debt consolidation, car purchase, college education funding etc.

To borrow adverse credit secured loans, an asset has to be placed as collateral. This asset can be a home, a car, stocks, bonds etc. The purpose of the asset is to assure the lender of bad credit secured loan about the repayment of his money. High equity collateral helps in getting a low rate of interest for adverse credit secured loans. Also, high equity collateral helps in getting a higher amount approved for the loan.

Adverse credit secured loans help the borrower in taking up an amount in the range of £5000-£75000. The repayment term of the loan is from 5 years to 25 years. The amount approved for the adverse credit secured loans depends upon the equity in the collateral.

An online search can do wonders in getting a good deal for adverse credit secured loans. Proper research and comparison can help the borrower in getting low rates of interest for the deal.

Adverse credit secured loans provide another chance to adverse credit borrowers so that they can manage their finances better. Money is provided to them in times of need which makes adverse credit secured loans a suitable choice to make.

If there has ever been a growth field, it is computer security certification. With a good computer security certificate from a reputable college, you can go anywhere. Even if you go to one of those IT training schools the you see advertised on daytime television, your certification computer security will probably open doors for you. There are all kinds of jobs for computer security experts, from Homeland security to private industry. You can help prevent data theft, write computer security software, or investigate hackers for law enforcement. For a security certified network professional, the sky is the limit.

I had never expected to get into computer security certification when I was growing up. If anything, I was on the other side of the law. Many of the experts in computer security certification were hackers when they were kids. I used to try to break into all kinds of things just to see if I could do it. It wasn’t a matter of malicious intent. I just wanted to test the boundaries and see what holes computer security systems had in them. To me, it was more of a game or an intellectual exercise than an act of vandalism. Unfortunately, law enforcement did not see it that way. I was caught when I was 16 years old, breaking into the offices of a major multinational corporation. Because of my age I got off with probation, but I realized that I had to turn my life around.

I got my computer security certification training after a few years of soul-searching. To be honest, I was tempted to give up computer hacking altogether, but finally I realized that this was not the course for me. I was just too fascinated by computer networking and the security issues that it involved. I knew that, if I did not go into computer security, it was only a matter of time before I would get into trouble again. Temptation would overwhelm me, and I would suddenly found myself hacking into something or other. Although a I could get away with it for years this time (I had learned from my mistakes) is still didn’t seem to be worth the risk. In the long run, I would get caught. That is why I got my computer security certification. As a certified information security auditor, I can make my hobby into my life and stay on the right side of the law.

It’s important to keep in mind, that not all ghost writers are skilled in all kinds of writing.
