Cristiano Ronaldo Biography

Cristiano Ronaldo Biography - Foreword

There aren’t a lot of soccer players in the world today that can honestly state they are more popular than Cristiano Ronaldo. Except for a few already established super stars such as Ronaldinho or David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo is probably the most popular rising star on the pitch.

His good looks combined with his awesome repertoire of Cristiano Ronaldo soccer tricks and a hint of trademarked Cristiano Ronaldo goals made him reach the level of fame on which he is basking in the spotlight sun today.

This Cristiano Ronaldo biography will try to take you through his career and although it’s a rare case that a player who is still in his early 20s receives a biography, I’m sure you’ll agree that a Cristiano Ronaldo profile is in order, considering his huge talent and fame.

Cristiano Ronaldo Biography - Youth Clubs

Born in Madeira to a family where soccer was cherished, Cristiano Ronaldo started playing for a local amateur youth team called Andorinha, where his father handled the equipment and acted as a kit man.

Cristiano was 8 when he joined Andorinha and by the time he was 10, he already sparked the curiosity of some of Portugal’s biggest clubs. This led him to sign for the local first-division team CD Nacional, where he would join the youth club and immediately make an impact, helping his team win the youth championship the following year.

After just 1 year at Nacional, he was offered a youth contract by bigwigs Sporting Lisbon, who are internationally renowned for having one of the best youth training facilities in the World.

The young player fit right in at Sporting and started scoring regularly, although he was way too fond on his dribble at that point. Despite this short coming, he was taken in to various levels of the Portugal national youth squad, finally getting his big break at the UEFA under 17 Championship in 2001.

His great performance there drew the eyes of Liverpool’s scouts, but Ronaldo was just 16 years old and the Liverpool officials decided he needs more time in the Portuguese league before they sign him.

Cristiano Ronaldo Biography - Sporting Lisbon

Being taken in the senior squad of Sporting meant the young player’s first contact with professional football. Although he didn’t play regularly, the few moments that he did get on the pitch were greeted with cheers from the Sporting fans, who loved Cristiano Ronaldo’s soccer tricks. In 2 seasons with Sporting’s senior squad, Ronaldo got to play 28 matches, scoring 3 times before he was picked up by Manchester United’s scouts, at age 18.

Cristiano Ronaldo Biography - Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson, manager and coach of Manchester United desperately needed a quality right midfielder in 2003, as David Beckham had just left the club for Real Madrid.

Bringing an 18-year old Portuguese player to replace an international super-star like Beckham didn’t seem like a good idea at first, but from his first season Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals proved decisive and he quickly gained the love of the Red Devils’ fans.

In his following seasons at Manchester, with more and more trust coming from Sir Alex Ferguson and the team’s fans, Cristiano Ronaldo developed into an extraordinary player that is now feared by even the sturdiest defenders out there.

Despite the fact that he is just 22 years of age right now, Cristiano Ronaldo already has 208 professional matches and 53 goals (190 matches and 50 goals for Manchester, the others for Sporting) and 46 caps in the national squad, with a tally of 17 goals for Portugal. Impressive stats for such a youngster.

The best part is that with each passing year Cristiano Ronaldo improves his game even further, so don’t be surprised if in a couple of years he steps up to become the greatest footballer in activity.

A Marketing Lesson From The Godfather

Maybe it was the commercials for the recent release of the video game based on the movie based on one of my all-time favorite novels that got me to thinking about how great marketers are just like Don Corleone, the infamous Godfather.

We all need to “make ‘em an offer they can’t refuse.”

Now, I’m not suggesting that we all need to start sending dead fish wrapped in newspaper to anyone who doesn’t buy from us, or start putting hits out on our competitors - we’ll leave those particular tactics to the Corleone family.

What I am suggesting is that, like Don Corleone, we tell our prospects all the reasons why it would be beneficial to them to do business with us. Highlight those benefits, and make it so obvious to them that they can’t live (happily) without your product or service that they are dying to buy from you!

You see - people don’t really care about you - or your company - or even your product or service all that much. What they care about is how you and your product or service will benefit THEM. You’ve heard of WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get)? Well, here’s a new one that your customer repeats every time he reads anyone’s marketing copy: WIIFM (What’s In It For Me)?

So you tell him! Don’t talk about boring features (the drill is black and weighs 2 lbs. 3 oz.) - tell him about the benefits your drill has to offer - (our drill is so light weight, you won’t feel like your arm is going to fall off - even after 30 minutes of continuous use!)

Your customers don’t want your drill - they want the hole.

Show him how your drill will solve all of his problems, save him time, make his life easier, save him money and make him look like a virtual genius to his friends and family for having chosen such a perfect drill.

By highlighting the specific benefits of your product or service, you will appeal to your prospects on an emotional level - and you’ll have “made ‘em an offer they can’t refuse!”

My Experiences with the Hawaii Earthquake and What I Should Tell You

Aloha everyone from Oahu

My family is safe and sound. On Sunday October 15th 2006 at 7:08 AM I was lying in bed when I felt a vibration. For some reason I recall thinking there must be something wrong with the washer and dryer downstairs from our apartment. One minute later another vibration occurred and I sat up. My wife came into the bedroom and asked me if I felt that. I replied yeah and she said she thought it was an earthquake. Less than two minutes later our power went out.

Jan said she saw lights in the other building so I continued with our plans to take the family to breakfast as Pagoda Restaurant near downtown Honolulu. Then I started seeing something very dangerous when one knows what idiots drivers can be. The traffic lights were out. I only saw one light out so I continued until getting stuck on several major intersections with no traffic lights. What a bunch of morons, and yes we can include me in that group for not turning around and going home at the first light, people were driving through the blacked out light as though they had a free pass instead of treating it like a stop sign.

Lesson: Stay home

Finally making it to Pagoda restaurant, wondering if they were even open by now, my family and I parked to assess the situation. It seemed a bus driver had dropped a bunch of tourists off at the restaurant which turned out to be closed. My compliments to the restaurant. The provided free coffee and danishes to everyone. Pagoda Restaurant really shined during such a dark time.

We worked our way back home. Other drivers had woken up to what they were supposed to do at a blacked out signal light and just a few of them were playing chicken with all the good drivers. My wife changed the batteries in our portable radio

Lesson: Have plenty of batteries on hand

KSSK radio did a great job keeping people informed so the city officials contacted KSSK along with using the Civil Defense announcements. All in all the information from KSSK radio was essential.

Lesson: Get a radio with batteries

According to our Governor, she was on the big island (Hawaii) when the 6.5 earthquake hit. She stood in her door frame and watched her TV set get tossed across the room. Upon the second quake the hotel she was staying at was evacuated.

Lesson: Get in the door frame which is well supported if you can’t get out away from falling debris.

Although the phone lines were working via radio city officials suggested not using the phones except for emergencies. I was staying off my cell phone in case I need to keep it charged. Most people have cordless phones now. My wife’s cell phone was almost dead.

Lesson: Get one of those cheap phones that plugs into the wall.

On Oahu we found out power had to be restored slowly over the entire island and most of the state. We were told the water ran to us via gravity and to refill they had to use electric pumps. Some pumps didn’t have electric generators to pump the water. We were told via KSSK to use water sparingly and use bottled water if possible. Now, I had a problem with that. I told my family don’t do dishes don’t shower, but for cooking and drinking I wasn’t going to use up all our bottled water and then run out of city water. So we used the city water for cooking and drinking and saved our bottled water in case we lost the city water.

Lesson: Keep a good supply of bottled water

Getting dark now. My wife decided to fix dinner. We have an electric stove, but she had a propane driven stove used for camping. So she fixed spam, pees and rice. Spam is s staple here. Being an old Illinois boy I was surprised to see it on menus at restaurants. Our neighbors were cooking out on their drill.

Lesson: Make sure you have an alternative means to cook meals for your family

We turned on the high powered flashlights we had so we could see. The radio advised against using candles and I agreed. My son seven year old son Hunter played with the flashlight in all kinds of ways I’d have never thought of before. From hand puppets, which he was quite good at to telling us to close our eyes then covering the flashlight with a towel so he “magically” disappeared.

Lesson: Keep high powered flashlights. Keep working batteries in them since it’s hard to change batteries in the dark.

KKSK reported power coming on a little at a time. 20,000 homes out of over 800,000 had power in them. This was going to take all night. For some reason, though almost all businesses were closed, there were people lined up three blocks down to buy gas at the one station that was open. Whey they thought they needed to buy gas when their safest place to be was home I’ll never figure out.

Lesson: It costs just as much to fill the top of the gas tank as it does the bottom.

Another huge line was for a place selling huli huli (flip flip) chicken. The traffic got so jammed up one motorcycle officer told the people to stop selling chicken or he’d arrest them. This according to KSSK caller at the place selling the chicken. That was straightened out and hungry people were still allowed to buy chicken.

Lesson: Keep a good supply of canned goods and other staples.

Our own power came back on about 11:00 PM. We were all actually asleep when the power came back on. The city officials had recommended turning off the water heater to help keep the circuits from overloading so we turned that back on in the morning.

Not everything, as of the next morning (this morning) was completed by the city. There were still some traffic lights flashing and a few were still out. Police were directing traffic on some places but the morons who didn’t care for other people managed to find the other lights and risk everyone else’s lives’ by not being courteous drivers. Most people tried to be courteous towards other however and Hawaii drivers do seem to be more courteous than other states I’ve vistied. I recall my first day here being surprised when someone let on the highway and I got on it from the short on ramp.

This really could have gone a lot worse. Imagine the same morons with no signal lights during rush hour traffic on a Friday. Imagine people during rush hour traffic and no signal lights trying to get to the stores and gas stations and hospitals not thinking about the traffic but concerned for their families. One broken arm, according to reports I heard, was all that happened during this whole thing. We were lucky.

Now I have a question for you, since I know most of this is going in one ear and out the other. What is the difference between those unprepared people and you? They didn’t think it would ever happen to them either. They kept meaning to prepare, but had more important things to do.

Lesson: Prepare for an emergency before the emergency

Capturing and Documenting Memories

You plan then plan more and finally baby arrives. Suddenly, your life is in fast forward mode and you are doing your best to stay awake and to cherish every moment with your newborn. From ultrasound pictures to baby shower cards, birth announcements, pediatrician visit charts and digital prints it’s amazing how anyone could organize these items in order to review them in the years to come.

Ideally you would want to use these items to create scrapbooks and memory books or art and display them in your home or in baby’s nursery. However, once baby arrives, it can be challenging to find opportunities to sit and to design a well thought out book or creative piece.

Given the circumstances of your life, start thinking outside of the box for ways to capture and document your child’s development and to effectively save mementos. Before you begin, purchase a plastic storage container for your items. Store the container in your baby’s closet or in a designated space so you can continue to add items and ensure that everything can be found in one place. You can also purchase envelopes and folders to label and store inside the bin so you can separate items by activity or by age.

A simple alternative to hard copy scrapbooks and memory books is on-line photo sharing. You can create an album for family and friends by downloading your photos to an on-line vendor such as Snapfish. If you want prints, order your favorites and save them in a labeled envelope to work with during the next half of the year when your child is on a more regular schedule. If you want to keep your photos on your local drive, consider purchasing an inexpensive and user friendly scrapbook software package. You can find these packages at Target or at on-line retailers.

A terrific way to celebrate your child’s first birthday is to host a scrapbook party in honor of your child. Pull out your bin and have each person select an envelope or folder to use for a scrapbook. You can supply the tools and your friends and relatives can help you design some special pieces for your child in lieu of store bought presents. Since your child won’t participate in the scrapbook party, treat her or him to a family lunch or dinner at a kid-friendly restaurant with a few friends and your immediate family.

If you are still searching for time and energy to complete a scrapbook or art project with your child’s special items, consider enrolling in a scrapbook class or art class that will allow you to use your own pieces to create keepsakes. Not only will you finish your projects, but you will have an opportunity to spend some well deserved mom time outside of your house.

Panama’s Complete Offshore Structure

You’ve read about Panama Offshore Corporations and Trusts. Their main purposes are to Protect your Assets and provide you with Privacy regarding your financial affairs. Let’s explore the ultimate in protection and privacy.

The Complete Offshore Structure is a combination of Panamanian legal entities. A Private Interest Foundation owns an Offshore Corporation. This is the utmost in Asset Protection, Privacy, Anonymity, and Convenience!

Here’s How It Works: The Panama Corporation owns all major assets (real estate, commercial businesses, commercial bank accounts, etc.). The Foundation acts as a holding company for the Corporation. The Foundation also holds passive investment accounts and bank accounts.

What is a Foundation? The Panamanian Private Interest Foundation is a legal entity which acts like a Trust and operates like a Corporation. Law No. 25 of June 12, 1995 created and regulates Panama Private Interest Foundations.

The Panama Private Interest Foundation is based on Private Interest Foundation models from three different jurisdictions: Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. Panama carefully designed the Panama Private Interest Foundation as a more modern, flexible, and affordable Asset Protection & Estate Planning vehicle for people worldwide.

Non-Profit: The law specifically states private foundations shall not be profit oriented. Exception: Foundations may engage in commercial activities on a non-habitual basis or own shares of business companies and receive passive income - such as from rental properties or dividends.

Foundation Structure: The Private Interest Foundation has four main components:

1. Founder: The founder creates the Foundation in the Panama Public Registry.

2. Foundation Council: The council serves the same function as directors do for a corporation. The council’s member names and passport numbers are registered in the Panama Public Registry when the Foundation is incorporated. In order to protect the privacy of clients, law firms generally provide a nominee (straw man) council, and provide pre-signed, undated letters of resignation from the nominee council. Thus, the council has no control.

3. Protector: The Protector ultimately controls the Foundation. When the Foundation is created, the council appoints a Protector through a notarized Private Protectorate Document. Since the document is private & non-publicly registered, the Protector remains 100% anonymous. Thus, the Protector has full control over the Foundation and all of its assets.

4. Beneficiaries: The Beneficiaries are appointed through a Private Letter of Wishes, written by the Protector. The Letter of Wishes is a private document keeping the beneficiaries 100% anonymous. Only the Protector can change or modify The Letter of Wishes.

Registered Agent: The Act requires that every Foundation have a registered agent, who must be either a Panamanian lawyer or law firm.

Capitalization: Only US$10,000 is required as the initial endowment of a Foundation.

FOUNDATION PURPOSES: There are 4 purposes for a Foundation.

1. Holding Entity for the Corporation: A Foundation has no corporate shares. The Foundation can be the sole share holder of your corporation. You control the Foundation anonymously through a Private Protectorate role. As Protector, you appoint the beneficiaries through a private Letter of Wishes. Since the Protector and the Beneficiaries are both appointed through non-public (private) documents, they remain 100% anonymous.

2. Beneficial Owner when Opening Bank Accounts: Due to the global scare of terrorism, most offshore tax haven jurisdictions implemented laws requiring their banks to obtain declarations of beneficial ownership when establishing corporate bank accounts. In Panama, the banks maintain this information with rigorous confidentiality under their strictly enforced bank secrecy laws. If an owner wishes to remain anonymous, the Foundation can serve as the beneficial owner. The nominee Foundation council can sign the declarations on behalf of the Foundation keeping the true owner 100% anonymous.

3. Distribution of Your Assets to Your Heirs: Under Panamanian laws, no one may freeze a Foundation’s assets under any circumstances - providing the ultimate asset protection vehicle. The Panama Private Interest Foundation is specifically designed to cherish, protect, and distribute your assets to your beneficiaries upon a triggering event, such as your death or incapacity. Your Foundation’s Letter of Wishes (written by the Protector) details the Foundations assets, list of beneficiaries, and how and when those assets are to be distributed to the beneficiaries. Since the inheritance comes from outside of the beneficiary’s domestic country, the inherited assets are not subject to any of the standard taxes and legal procedures. Through the Foundation, your heirs will receive their inheritance free of probate, gift taxes, estate taxes, inheritance taxes, or legal delays.

4. Facilitates the Transfer of Funds Offshore, and the Return of those Funds back Onshore: Since the Foundation is a non-profit entity, it may receive donations, and it may give donations/grants, etc. to anyone you choose. Hence, you can donate your funds to the Foundation. In turn, the Foundation can provide educational grants, charitable donations, etc. to anyone you choose.

To Summarize: Foundations Protect Your Assets, act as your Holding Company, provide total Estate Planning, and act as a Charitable Entity.

Rights of Heirs: Under Panamanian law, the founder’s heirs do not have a right to revoke the creation of the Foundation, or the right to object to the transfer of properties to the Foundation. The laws of the founder’s country regarding intestacy have no bearing on the validity of the Foundation - ensuring the Foundation’s objectives will be honoured even in the event of the founder’s death.

Features and Benefits

Some of the other features and benefits of a Foundation are as follows:

Limited Liability

A Foundation holds its own assets and liabilities separate from those of the founder or any other person. The founder and the Foundation cannot be held responsible for the debts of one another, except where the founder has administered the Foundation in a way that ignores the separate identity of the Foundation. In such a case, a creditor of the founder might be able to invade the Foundation’s assets. In contrast, the Trustee of a Trust (who often is the grantor/creator) may have unlimited personal liability for the obligations of the Trust.

Minimal Public Disclosure

Other than the ministerial act of accepting a proper Memorandum of Foundation for filing, no government approval or action is required for the establishment of a Foundation. The Regulations of a Foundation, under which it operates, are not required to be filed in any public office or registry. No governmental agency supervises or oversees the management and operation of a Foundation. No reports concerning a Foundation’s activities, its income or financial condition or the names of its beneficiaries are required to be filed with any governmental agency.

Avoidance of Testamentary Formalities

Upon the death of the Founder, all of his/her assets can be transferred to the Foundation eliminating the need for a will and probate.

Privacy of Assets

Except for the initial endowment of US$10,000, there are no public records as to the assets of a Foundation. There is no obligation for the filing of any public instrument with respect to an increase in the endowment and no filing of financial statements.

In Conclusion: A Panama Private Interest Foundation has many advantages over a Trust. Limited Liability, greater Privacy, elimination of a Will and Probate, less Public Exposure, and Charitable functions are some of these advantages. Panama’s Public Interest Foundation law, Corporation laws, and strict Banking secrecy laws combine to provide one with the utmost in Asset Protection and Privacy.

The Leo Wanta Saga, Pt. 12: Finance Chairmen In House And Senate Refuse To Comment On The Wanta Plan

The biggest U.S. and international financial story in world history is being treated by the media as a second rate dog and pony show and being totally ignored by high ranking U.S. Congressmen and Senators.

However, in light of the magnitude and importance of the trillions of dollars in question there has been a virtual black out about the story, save coverage by the Arctic Beacon state side and The International Currency Review in England.

Before discussing important details and new events concerning the whereabouts of more than $70 trillion in diverted U.S. funds and what has been called The Wanta Plan, it must be mentioned that even though $4.5 trillion in repatriated U.S. money remains blocked by the corrupt Federal Reserve Board in a Bank of America account in Richmond, Va., a great victory has already been achieved over the Illuminati banksters, as they have been blindsided by the recent developments concerning true patriot Leo Wanta.

For the last 14 years, Wanta’s steadfast determination not to be corrupted by the likes of former President George H. Bush and President William Jefferson Clinton has taken the criminals by surprise, sending a financial electric-shock through the corrupt Illuminati underworld banking community, the likes of which their criminal minds never expected.

And this is exactly why all of them, including President George W. Bush. U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr., the entire Federal Reserve Board (controlled by foreign interests), Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Finance committee, and Rep. Michael Oxley of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services are all remaining with their thumbs sucking in their mouths, not saying a word.

Regarding the Wanta money, look how the above officials have responded since the vast sum that could turn around the economy arrived more than a month ago while depriving the American people of an immediate $1.6 trillion dollar windfall and more the $200 billion in lost revenues each and every banking day the money is withheld:

Bush has illegally blocked the release of the money, making him liable for preventing a private entity in paying taxes owed to the American people in the amount of approximately $1.6 trillion. This also makes Bush guilty of criminal charges.

The Federal Reserve Board has illegally complied with Bush’s order to block the funds even though the Fed has no authority to intervene in such matters, making them also an accessory to criminal charges.

Paulson, U.S. Treasury Secretary, has blindly followed Bush’s criminal order with Paulson refusing to return or issue a statement about the The Wanta Plan after repeated calls by the Arctic Beacon.

Sen. Grassley and Rep. Oxley have remained silent on the matter, evening though they chair the two most important financial committees in government. And, in what is one of the most important financial stories in the history of America, both top ranking officials have refused to even issue a statement and have refused to return calls from the Arctic Beacon.

In fact, the Illuminati big boys have not uttered as much as a peep since Wanta’s $4.5 trillion dollar settlement became official on June 12 and the money finally transferred from numerous foreign bank accounts, causing fluctuations in the financial markets during May and June but, more importantly, signaling a hopeful end to the corrupt Illuminati banking system and their plan to financially destroy America.

Furthermore, the Wanta story trumpets loud and clear how the likes of the Illuminati, including Daddy Bush and Clinton, have their ugly hands in the trillion dollar cookie jar for their own benefit and now, if anybody cares to pursue the matter in this country, how they can finally be brought to justice for defrauding the people

For example, the Wanta story goes back to August of 1989 when Daddy Bush wanted Wanta to illegally transfer $1 billion in U.S. money to an account in Panama for Bush’s own personal use.

When Wanta refused, citing violations of criminal statutes for anyone to personally benefit, including a President, from public funds, he was taken out of the picture with a bogus 22 year jail term.

Wanta was even told at the time by high ranking official, James Baker, it was useless to try and block the matter since people like Bush were above the law, saying it would be better to just turn a blind eye.

However, Wanta refused, keeping records of the transaction and his communications with Baker, the $1 billion, however, eventually making its way to Bush despite Wanta’s objections in an account listed under Pilgrim Investments/Jorge (George) Bush.

But according to Wanta, who has proven to be an honest and loyal American, the $1 billion is only the tip of the ice berg of stolen funds diverted by the Illuminati from an estimated $27.5 trillion to $70 trillion raised at the end of the Cold War by Wanta on behalf of then President Ronald Reagan.

Besides the $1 billion, Wanta has documented at least $743 billion diverted and used by the Bush and Clinton crime gang, saying this is a conservative estimate since tracing the funds has been a difficult task after spending years in jail and even being declared dead.

It’s important to remember Wanta’s efforts on behalf of President Reagan amassed huge sums of monies when he set out to destabilize the Soviet currency at the end of the Cold War. The original plan was bankrolled with $150 billion of American taxpayer money, the financial fruits of which President Reagan had always intended to be returned to the American people and not ripped-off by Illuminati banksters on behalf of Daddy Bush and Clinton.

When made aware that he may have been working for an Illuminati banking scheme all along, Wanta said when the Soviet financial destabilization was initiated, he had no idea any nefarious or underhanded actions were taking place.

However, once Daddy Bush and Clinton’s evil and back stabbing intentions were made known, Wanta tried to do the right thing by turning over the money to the American people, as he was then and still remains today the legal trustor of the vast sum of money, a position he was given by President Reagan and a position in 2003 affirmed by Federal Court Judge Bruce Lee.

But instead of the money coming back for infrastructure and other improvements in American society, Bush and Clinton jailed Wanta illegally, first in a Swiss dungeon for 133 days in the early 1990’s and then railroaded in Wisconsin on a bogus $14,000 income tax charge in which he was given a 22 year sentence, conveniently due to expire in 2015, three years after the financial maturation of the original $27.5 trillion.

And if the 22 year sentence had been served or Wanta caved under Illuminati pressure from three prison assaults, perhaps the big boys wouldn’t be shaking their heads today and perhaps they all wouldn’t have their thumbs in their mouths as the $4.5 trillion sits in a Richmond Bank of America account, drawing financial dust instead of $200 billion a day for the American people.

However, since Wanta remains strong, never diverting from President Reagan’s intentions, America stands now at the precipice of regaining its pride, honor and financial strength. Further, if Americans remain strong perhaps we can put a stop to the Illuminati’s goal of financially destroying the country.

That in a nutshell is why the Wanta story is one of the most important stories in the history of our country as the $4.5 trillion indicates a clear victory over the New World Order since it is sending shockwaves through their criminal community, giving them a strong and clear financial message that certain individuals in this country remain strong, as well as certain press outlets (International Currency Review and Arctic Beacon) whose efforts have now reached millions of people around the world about the $27.5 trillion dollar Illuminati rip-off.

Vitamin D - Eight Important Reasons To Ensure Sufficient Intake

Until most recently, the general consensus among health researchers and practitioners held that the primary function of vitamin D was in helping the body to maintain a healthy level of calcium in the blood, primarily for proper bone health throughout an individual’s lifetime. But, more and more, research is showing that this important vitamin is playing a much larger role in the overall health of the body. The following issues are eight of the top reasons to ensure adequate bodily concentrations.

1. Increase bone density - It defends against osteoporosis by triggering the absorption of calcium into bone cells.

2. Lower risk of all forms of cancer - A large number of studies have shown positive results indicating that with adequate vitamin D, risks for most forms of cancer can be reduced. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that vitamin D supplements may lower risk by 77 percent. In fact, in many of the clinical studies, indications are that the disease may be prevented entirely. Benefits have been especially promising in clinical studies on cancers related to: Breast, Colon/Rectal, Pancreas, Prostate, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and the Lungs.

3. Preserves Muscle strength - A common symptom of severe vitamin D deficiency is leg weakness. Senior citizens typically suffer from an inexorable muscle wasting that begins by age 40. In recent group studies Vitamin D blood levels were measured in elderly men and women and found that individuals who had higher readings also had greater thigh strength, concluding that blood concentration of vitamin D directly correlated with leg strength and function in these people. Another important result of the study showed that with a daily vitamin D intake of 800 units or more, falls were reduced to half of their pre-study level.

4. Energy metabolism - One of the newest identified functions of the hormonal form of vitamin D, known as 1,25-D, is its role in determining how the body manages energy. In other words, it means that without sufficient intake of vitamin D and calcium, cells burn fewer calories and store more of them as fat. And, it turns out that dairy products are more effective than plain calcium at inhibiting fat synthesis and actually augmenting fat breakdown.

5. Strengthen Immune System - Vitamin D appears to send a signal the cells triggering production of specific proteins needed to fight off disease and other conditions in which the immune system attacks the body’s own healthy tissue.

6. Reduced risk of MS - Incidences of Multiple Sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases tend to be rare near the equator, where ultraviolet light from the sun is intense and people produce an abundance vitamin D. In a recent study, women getting at least 400 IU of vitamin D per day showed only a 60 percent risk of developing MS compared to women getting less of the vitamin.

7. Tooth and gum health - Low blood concentrations of vitamin D were linked to gum disease in a study involving both men and women taking part in the federally sponsored National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The rate of loss in tooth-gum attachment was 25 percent higher among those participants with the least vitamin D.

8. Prevention of Diabetes - University of Pittsburgh researchers reported that a vitamin D deficiency affects the pancreas’s release of insulin and found the risk of diabetes to be one-third lower in people with the highest concentrations of the vitamin.

So, how much of the vitamin do we really need?

The Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academies in Washington, D.C., currently recommends that people from infancy through age 50 get 200 international units (IU) of vitamin D per day, that those ages 51 through 70 receive 400 IU daily, and that anyone over 70 get a net of 600 IU. Sources include exposure to the sun, foods, especially dairy products and the meat of oily fish, such as tuna, salmon and mackerel, as well as, a variety of supplements.

But, no matter what the source, we now understand the importance of maintaining sufficient concentrations of vitamin D, as it contributes to the overall health and quality of life for each of us.

RealClearPolitics.com - You may know the title of this post, as I do, as one of the all time great movie lines spoken by the Kurgan (Clancy Brown) in the 1986 cult classic, The Highlander. These days it could also serve as the mantra for Hillary Clinton’s run for President. (UPDATE: Ok, I’ve now been informed by at least 20 people that the line is originally from Neil Young’s 1979 hit “Hey Hey, My My.”)

FAQ on Fosamax Lawsuits

Why do doctors prescribe Fosamax?

Fosamax is often prescribed to osteoporosis patients and advanced cancer and Paget’s disease patients in order to help fight the thinning of bone common in those diseases.

Nearly 10 million people use or have taken Fosamax, the most popular drug in a class of bone-building drugs called bisphosphonates that have now been linked by the FDA an d medical researchers to thousands of cases of dead jaw. Fosamax is usually taken in pill form on an empty stomach.

Most users are prescribed Fosamax to treat symptoms of the bone-thinning disease osteoporosis - a disease that is especially common in post-menopausal women. Mounting evidence now suggests that millions of osteoporosis and other patients who take or have taken Fosamax may be at risk for this usually rare condition.

Why a Fosamax lawsuit?

Big drug companies have a responsibility to warn innocent consumers like you about serious side effects like osteonecrosis of the jaw. A number of Fosamax users have already filed a Fosamax lawsuit in federal court against the drug’s manufacturer, Merck & Co., claiming that Merck knew about this dangerous and debilitating side effect yet failed to act to protect the innocent public

According to the plaintiffs in this Fosamax lawsuit, “Fosamax is a defective product because it can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw, or a rotting of the jaw bone. The suit, which seeks class action status, alleges that Merck concealed and continues to hide Fosamax’s potentially dangerous side effects from patients and doctors.” - Theresa Agovino, “Lawsuit Alleges Merck Negligent,” Washington Post (April 12, 2006).

Is a Fosamax attorney right for me?

Justice demands that huge and profitable pharmaceutical companies like Merck be held accountable for their actions. People who suffer from dead jaw or other serious side effects brought on by Fosamax or similar drugs may be eligible to receive compensation for their medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering if the drug’s maker has not properly warned the consumer about the serious health risks associated with the drug.

If you or a loved has taken the osteoporosis medication Fosamax or other bone-density medication like Actonel or Boniva and experienced symptoms of jaw death or other serious medical complications, you are strongly encouraged to visit a dentist. We are not doctors or dentists and can not give you medical advice. However, if the dentist diagnoses the problem as ONJ (jaw necrosis), call an experienced Hissey Kientz attorney at 1-866-275-4454 to find out how you can protect your legal rights.

Illinois Foreclosure Listing Tops 11,000 Addresses, Governor Steps In!

Illinois foreclosure listings represent the fourth highest in the country. California is at the top of the list with 32,500 followed by Florida with approximately 27,000 listings and Colorado at roughly 11,000 filings. Combined with Illinois, these four states account for 52% of all homes in foreclosure nationwide.

The staggering foreclosure rates in Illinois prompted Governor Rod Blagojevich to file amendments to HB 4050, the Illinois Predatory Lending Database Program. HB4050 protects consumers fight predatory lending practices by shifting focus on the lenders who offer non-traditional types of loans.

Under the proposed rules for HB 4050, Cook County first time homebuyers and owners opting to refinance their primary residence will be recommended for financial counseling if the loan they are considering contains any of the following provisions:

* Permits interest-only payments;
* Allows payments that results in negative amortization;
* Total points and fees payable by the borrower exceed 5% of the amount of the mortgage;
* Approval of the loan relies on the stated income of the borrower;
* A pre-payment penalty is included; or
* The financing transaction includes a second lien on the property, often known as an 80/20 loan.

HB 4050 main purpose is to alert consumers that subprime lending practices can lead to financial ruin. Todays housing market focuses so much on the credit history of the homebuyer, and with some homebuyers who have had past credit issues, spotty employment or not enough funds for a down payment — some lenders have gone to great lengths to get their business. However, this practice is costing the same homebuyer way more than they can afford - without them even realizing it. By enacting HB 4050, these same homebuyers will be instructed and informed regarding the types of loans available, the type of loan they are considering and what it means to their financial future. Many of these items are not currently provided by the lenders who practice subprime loan lending.

Luckily, Governor Blagojevich has an eye on his Illinois homebuyers and the lenders who serve the Illinois residents. Currently, HB 4050 is in the pilot program phase and is being piloted in Cook County. Illinois residents outside of Cook County should expect to see it offered to them also in the near future. The governors’ mission is to see the Illinois foreclosure listings numbers drop and this is a great start to realizing that mission.

U.S. News & World Report - President Bush claimed on Thursday that U.S. forces and Iraqi tribesman have “systematically dismantled” the terrorist group Al Qaeda in Iraq in the long-troubled Anbar Province. And indeed, while Al Qaeda in Iraq remains dangerous and active, particularly in parts of northern Iraq, the terrorist group is having increasing difficulty pulling off its signature type of attack, deadly car bombings.
