Of all the business opportunities I’ve been presented with, I’ve wanted them the most just after the presenter had left. On occasions the opportunity wasn’t for me or was it?

I may have felt they they just wanted to sign me up and get me off and running for them. Kind of like being shown a shovel and pointed in a very general direction of the gold diggings.

Perhaps the hardest part of working any MLM is deciding to pick up the shovel and making a start.

How can you help people make a decision to join you?

How can you get people to join once they’ve already decided not to?

How can you get prospects off the fence of indecision?

How can you turn a turn-down into a turn-up for the books? Read on:

As with any sales, every sales person gets a YES after a certain amount of NO’s, When the YES arrives fill out the membership form but leave the sponsor part blank.

Take the newly signed application and go back to one of the people who didn’t sign up. Show them the signed application form. Tell them that you have to get the application in quickly and that if they join you’ll place that person under them. Are you in or out?

Assuming that they or the next person signed up, take the now two applications to the next person and offer those two members as an incentive for them to join. I’ll put these two under you if you can join now, I have to get the applications in today. Are you in or out?

Then take the three applications to the next person and so on. Waving those applications is probable just the right amount of justification that they need to get off the fence and join your team. If they don’t join they will lose those members and all the members they bring in.

The last few people you go to with the applications are the people you want the most. The people who can bring lots of people and or the people you would just like to help the most. You know who they are.

With this method timing is important, people won’t wait forever and you need to get the applications in.

1. With your MLM company, how long does a new member order take to arrive at their doorstep after the application is faxed or sent in?

Let’s say it takes three (3) days.

2. Let’s say you want to use this recruiting method for four (4) days from the day you signed up that first application.

3. Add the above and you have one week.

4. Tell all your new members that their products will arrive within 10 days.

If you use this method for four days, get the applications in, then the products should be delivered to all within one week and the new members will be happy to have received their orders so early. They all thought it was going to take 10 days.

Once you have used this method successfully, keep doing it, and more importantly teach it to your new people. It makes the tough work to get the first person a whole lot sweeter

After you get the first person, go flat out, the clock is running!

Remember, If at first you don’t succeed, avoid skydiving .

When To Water

It’s always best to water your plants in the evening, rather than during the hot daytime hours.

Plants made up of soil-less composts, need more water because they get dry more quickly.

The best way to kill your plants is to water them simply out of routine of doing it. Make sure not to over-water them, but at the same time, assure that they have the amount of moisture that they need.

Larger and more mature plants need more water than young new plants. Take care to take the proper measures to water them accordingly. When your older plants start drooping, it may be time to take out the watering can!

The plants in your greenhouse will require less water during the dormant season of the coldest weather usually in December and January.

Keeping the floor wet in your greenhouse in the very hot summer days, will help to keep moisture in the air for your crops.

Hand-Watering

At times it may be hard to predict the amount of moisture that is in a plant pot, especially if it has a lot of peat-based compost. Try pressing your fingers gently into the top of the soil mixture inside of the pot.

Another way to guess the level of moisture is to use moisture indicators in a few select pots.

Larger plants that have been established for some time will benefit most with less forceful watering. This can be accomplished by breaking the force of the water dispersing from the watering can. Sometimes a small piece of cloth will do the trick. Small seeds definitely need to be watered with a very gentle spray. This can be done by pointing the rose of the watering can in an upward motion.

Hand-watering is still the most dominant method of greenhouse garden irrigation, even in today’s competitive markets. After frequent crop losses however, many growers are realizing that it may be time to change their traditional ways.

Overhead Spraying

Many of us prefer to have a spray mechanism when watering the greenhouse garden. It is possible to purchase several different designs of tubing that can be suspended overhead from the roof of your greenhouse. Some water spraying systems will spray in two-sided directions; others will spray water to only one side. You will have to select the type of tube design that you need and prefer.

Improvising

Although it is possible to buy specially designed systems with reservoirs, you can improvise to save money. This way works wonderfully. Find a lengthy piece of plastic gutter and use it as a reservoir by inserting one end of the capillary mat. Capillary mats allow the plants to be watered from the base of the container, where the capillary action of the compost takes place. Just sit your plants on top of the mat. The gutter should be always filled with water. You can do this by hand-watering it or by creating a drip system with the simple use of water bags.

Simple drip water system kits can be purchased with minimal cost for those that would prefer this method. These kits include usually about six drip valves that can be synchronized. Some kits even have adjustable water and fertilizer flow.

You can also pick up a combination of mist-like sprayers and adjustable dripper kits.

It is often best to have automatic watering systems that can do the job when the owner or part-time hobbyist is away at work or away even for short periods of time. Timers or automatic sensors can be applied to help as well with this task.

At the independent level budgets are tighter, so it helps if you write a script that has elements you can realistically translate from the page to the screen. The basic idea is to write a script that you can shoot using your resources. The cool thing with urban movies are they lend themselves to many more backdrops than before.

It used to be when you attached the word urban to a film the story had to take place in the inner city. That’s changing as urban culture and style is moving beyond those pervious boundaries. This makes for an exciting time to shoot urban movies.

In With Thieves features a Cuban cartel that practices their own version of Santeria, an African based crime group that deals in blood diamonds, ruthless Albanian gangsters, and an American burglary crew that is Latino, Black, and Irish.

This unique blend of creative and visual elements we felt would make for a provocative urban film. The inspiration was to show that urban stories can have global influences.

Career criminal Jack McGee (Tony Napoli) is out of prison facing hard times. His trophy wife Karen (Jennifer Day) spent all the money they had stashed away and found time to fall in love with another man. Max (Edward Gusts) his junkie brother-in-law, made enemies with the Albanian Mafia leaving Jack to hold the bag on a large debt. The release date for Jack insn’t a surprise to anyone who runs in criminal circles. Former gang member turned burglar Hector Garcia (Walter Pagan) and street huslter Frank Washington (Jerome A. Hawkins) are his partners in crime. When Jack was running the robbery crew they were flush with cash. After he went inside the scores dried up. Now it’s time for them to reconnect and go back to work.

Anton (Jayson Matthews) a savvy and vicious Albanian boss, has his trusted solider Vicktor (Marek Matousek) carry out a brutal act of violence to send a message to Jack. The message is clear to Jack. Pay the debt or everyone close to him will be murdered. Over friendly welcome home drinks Jack asks Hector and Frank to come through on the money he needs to pay off Anton. They both refuse his request turning the reunion bitter and bringing some old wounds to the surface.

Karen halfway walks back into Jack’s life pushing him into a frantic mix of anger, confusion, and dark alcohol fueled thoughts. She’s still involved with the other man. Adding to his problems is a gunpoint reminder that he has a short time to pay his debt or Karen will be killed. Pressed he hooks back up with Hector and Frank to steal the money he needs to pay Anton. They come up short.

He falls into a heated sexual affair with contract killer Rita Desouza (Arnita Champion) to numb his pain. Sex turns to conspiracy when she lays out a plan to have her husband ripped-off during a 5 million dollar diamond deal. Her husband is ruthless Cuban kingpin David Desouza (Art Parga). He’s heavily into his own version of Santeria and the blood diamond market. He depends on Rita and his most bloodthirsty enforcer Voodoo (Jesse James Youngblood) took keep people in line.

Jack brings in Hector and Frank to help him pull off the robbery. Out of time on his debt he’s forced to let Anton in on the job for a large cut of the take. They crash in on illegal blood diamond deal between a Cuban cartel and an African based crime syndicate headed by an ambitious upstart known as Omar (Keion Adams).

The rip-off erupts into deadly violence. This sets off a frenzy of double-crosses and brazen executions that entwine everyone in a bloody conflict that plays out to an explosive ending. Friendship, loyalty, and love run short in a world of greed.

Action scenes are always going to take longer to light and shoot than talking head scenes.

Make sure your dialogue is authentic to the culture of the street. If you’re writing your own script the right words will cost you nothing.

Wardrobe can’t make Corey Feldman (nothing against The Corey) a Latino gangster by having him wear a bandanna and a flannel shirt buttoned only at the top. You see that type of phony wardrobe in some really bad urban movies.

Nothing will go as planned.

The Bible tells us what to do in this situation: Hire a stewardship consultant. Okay, that’s not exactly what it says, but the message is there. In Proverbs, the wisest man who ever lived tells us that ‘Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they succeed’ (Proverbs 15:22). And when the apostle Paul wanted to make sure the Corinthians gave generously to the famine-relief collection, he sent men to Corinth to encourage the people.

‘So we urged Titus that as he had previously made a beginning, so he would also complete in you this gracious work [the collection] as well.’ (2 Corinthians 8:6).

‘So I thought it necessary to urge the brethren that they would go on ahead to you and arrange beforehand your previously promised bountiful gift, so that the same would be ready as a bountiful gift and not affected by covetousness’ (2 Corinthians 9:5).

Titus and his unnamed companions were the first church stewardship consultants. Just as we hire church staff members with specialized skills in music or youth ministry, so we should not hesitate to engage the temporary services of a minister with stewardship expertise.

All right, you’re ready to take the plunge and look for help. How do you know how to find the right consultant? Having hired consultants while pastoring, and now serving as a stewardship consultant, I’ve concluded that there are five indispensable qualities you want in your stewardship consultant.

1. Biblical.

Above all other qualities, you want someone who builds their stewardship ministry on the word of God. In the Christian world, fundraising isn’t primarily about raising money; it’s about discipling people.

A good stewardship consultant deepens your people’s spiritual walk by building the entire consultation on biblical principles–in both the methods used and the content delivered. God’s people respond with great generosity when a pastor or consultant faithfully teaches what the Bible says about money and giving.

2. Pastoral experience.

I’m always amazed at the number of men and women who have never pastored a church, yet glibly dispense advice about how to do it right. You want someone who understands just how important it is that your people be approached tastefully and respectfully about money. Only someone who has been there can really understand the level of discomfort we pastors feel about talking about money, or the Byzantine complexity of internal church politics.

When the church I pastored interviewed stewardship consultants I wanted someone I could talk with pastor to pastor. We ended up hiring someone who had extensive pastoral experience. He had a wonderful ministry to me and our people. And we are good friends to this day.

3. Proven track record.

You want a stewardship consultant who can give you case studies with specific churches, pastors, phone numbers, email addresses, and dollar amounts raised. When the church I pastored was searching for a capital fundraising consultant, one of the biggest and most expensive companies was vague about how much money we could expect to receive. We found that unsettling.

We chose to work with Stewart McChesney of Titus Stewardship Ministries, because Stewart had a track record of raising 2.7 times a church’s annual giving in three-year commitments. He charged two-thirds as much as the bigger company and he had years of experience. Under Stewart’s wise guidance our people pledged over three times our annual giving in three-year commitments.

When looking for help with increasing weekly offerings, search for a consultant who has consistently helped churches increase giving by at least 30 percent.

4. Great references.

I just fired an Internet marketing coach because a friend alerted me to the fact that none of the references listed on her website checked out. (I had hired her through a larger organization who I-wrongly-trusted.) When I called her she told me her former clients didn’t want to be bothered with phone calls. She wasn’t at all moved when I pointed out that if a reference can’t be contacted, it is worthless.

Insist that any stewardship consultant you are interviewing give you many excellent, contactable references. If she is evasive or makes excuses, you are in danger. Flee!

5. Personable.

You want a consultant who is warm, friendly, and easy to communicate with. Believe me, I have met more than one socially abrasive church consultant! Likeability is an especially important quality in a stewardship consultant because you’ve hired him to help you navigate the emotionally charged waters of asking for money. If your consultant isn’t a warm people person, he may cause unnecessary conflict.

I believe it is God’s will that every church reach its full giving potential. The secret is bold, biblical, pastoral leadership. And often that leadership is most effective when guided by the wise, biblical counsel of a godly stewardship consultant.

This painted glass gift idea is a recycled gift in that you reuse and revamp an old unwanted item into something new and desirable.

All you will need is…
some spray on paint or some glass frosting, some clear sticky textbook covering and some old glass objects. You may have some old wineglasses or tumbler glasses, an old glass vase, a bottle, anything made of glass that nobody wants. If you don’t have anything-suitable visit your local charity shop or car boot sale. Buying second hand glassware is still recycling.

Wash and dry the glass before you begin.

Cut out shapes from the book covering. You could cut out swirls, stars or hearts. Make sure that the shapes fit onto the glass. Bold shapes and patterns stand out more than small fiddly designs.

Peel off the paper from the shapes and stick the book covering to the glass surface. The sticky shapes act as a mask. Whatever they cover will remain the original glass colour.

When you’re happy with your design, spray paint the item. Make sure that you use the spray paint in accordance with the directions on the paint tin. When spraying glasses, be careful not to spray paint the inside of the glass as this will spoil the design.

Leave the item for an hour or so to dry, then carefully pick off the plastic masking, to reveal the design. Leave the glass for 24 hours too completely dry.

Wineglasses make an attractive t-light candleholder. Bottles accommodate tall candles. Tumbler glasses make nice vases for dried flowers and small jam jars and old spice. Jars make lovely containers for Radox bath crystals.

Opening up your home to these children could be the breakthrough in their lives as your providing of a stable home can open the avenues that offer these children a second chance.
