One of the functions for an autoresponder is important for online business because they can independently send out a series of timed messages that provide a broad overview of your business and provide a welcomed means of learning more about your business.

In essence this means if you have a series of six messages that you plan on sending to customers over a six-week period, you can set up autoresponder software to automatically ship these six messages once a week for six weeks. On the same day your software could be sending out each of these six emails to customers who purchased from your online store at separate times. Autoresponders can take the guesswork out of follow up by insuring that every contact you receive will automatically receive a return email.

“How much money would you like to earn from your book,” I ask my client.

From her facial reaction, I know that the question resonates as if I am asking how much her child is worth. It is challenging to most writers to think in terms of dollars and cents.

That’s why I ask.

The romantic myth that money somehow sullies the creative process is, in reality, a bigger obstacle to your publication goals than not having an agent. It’s not that your goal has to be to get rich from your book, although that is a perfectly fine goal to have. It’s that understanding the ebb and flow of money in your publishing life creates a positive perception about you as an author prospect. When you have defined expectations, you project confidence, commitment and focus.

To clarify your financial focus, I offer three questions to help you center on where you are today, and three questions to help you establish your financial goals.

1. What is your motivation for writing the book? How will the book serve your career and/or life purpose?

2. How do you promote your image now? Do you do workshops or publish articles?

3. What are your long-term career goals as a writer? Currently, is writing a hobby or a business? Do you report your income and/or expenses on your income tax?

Here are three questions to help you establish your financial goals.

1. Identify two books that are similar to yours in your publishing category. What is the LIST (cover) price of each one? Assume it is a hard cover book and that you would receive a 10% list royalty from the publisher (for paperback, assume a 7.5% royalty). Then, calculate how much you would earn if the book sold 5,000 copies, 7,500 copies, and so on.

2. Using the amount you would like to earn as a guide, how much of that money would you like to retain as income and how much are you willing to invest in publicity or direct selling, independent of what the publisher plans to do for your book?

3. Given what you plan to invest in the marketing and promotional effort and in the time you will invest in writing the book, what is the ideal advance amount you would like to negotiate with the publisher?

Every editor comes to the contract negotiation with numbers in mind. He or she has made a decision about the market value of your work. If you do the same, you are in the position to have thorough discussion about mutual expectations. Make a list of the items that are most important to you.

Finally, make a financial calendar that will help you visualize when you will be incurring expenses versus when you anticipate receiving your advance payments or income from other sources.

Whether you are an author with a commercial publisher or you are self-publishing, you have the power to make your project a financial success on your terms.

If you just landed a new posting or job, or moved to a new environment in a completely foreign country, are you adjusting well to all the changes? Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and frustrated with what you have to learn in order to feel at home? Is your spouse suffering with the changes, leaving you feeling like you can’t help because of your travel schedule?

In my work as a coach working with people in transition, I often tell my clients; “Step back, look at your current situation and take a deep breath. Just rest for five minutes and relax from your hectic day.” They initially think I have no idea what I’m talking about.

Many people who have made similar changes in their lives feel that there is no time to step back, and certainly not a second to relax. My clients initially respond to my suggestions with something like the following:

“I don’t have any time at all to ’step back’”, I just have to move quickly and get things done. I have a thousand things on my agenda and even more on my mind. My life is in total chaos between the job, the kids, the new language I have to learn and the strangeness of this new culture…. I don’t even sleep well because of my head spinning with all I’m taking on!”

Exactly! You’re probably exhausting yourself trying to do everything on your list and very soon feel completely overwhelmed by your circumstances. It doesn’t have to be this way because there are solutions. What’s more, the solutions are within you…. you just have to consider how to approach what’s in front of you with a plan… and THEN some action.

Taking the time to assess what you need to do means that you first must know and fully understand what the problems are. This is where taking the time to step back and honestly look at your situation, offers you the perspective and peace that you so desperately need. Then you will be able to create an action plan that works, instead of just adding to your stress.

Let me give you an example of this:

A high level expatriate lived his entire career life outside of his home country. During those years away, he and his family became used to traveling and living affluently with a tremendous amount of help with the day-to-day details. When they decided to return to their home country they assumed things would all work out. They bought an expensive home and began to entertain people at lavish dinner parties set in their abundant gardens, not compromising their accustomed way of living. As time progressed, they discovered how difficult it was to maintain their high standard of living. Without a maid, and only occasional help from a gardener they were doing all the work themselves, and ultimately the expatriate had a heart attack. His wife, who had been a brilliant entrepreneur, reduced herself to menial labor to keep the house together and continue having parties. They both discovered that despite all their efforts at welcoming many people into their lives, they had not developed any real friendships. They were, in fact, isolated and tired from all their efforts without accomplishing what they wanted which was to become part of a community and enjoy their lives. When they finally found me, they were demoralized and frustrated.

These people did not take their time to investigate what they were embarking on when they changed their lifestyle. They would have benefited tremendously if they had done a bit of research on the changes inherent with moving to a new country, and followed an action plan.

Do we want to live there? If so, what plan or approaches do we need to follow to be able to enjoy our lives in new surroundings? Who can help us makes these changes, and what is it worth?

When you are making a life change and you take time to reflect on what you want you will discover more about how to actually get what you want from your life. Talk things over with your family; discuss them with your friends and certainly, your coach. This small action can save you months, or years, of struggle and hard work, as well as bring you closer to living your life joyfully!

Once a foreign national determines which route he or she will take in regard to the purchase of real estate in Hungary — with as an individual or through a limited liability company — the next step in the real estate sales transaction process is the execution of a preliminary sales agreement. Generally the buyer is obliged to post a deposit at this juncture, usually in the amount of about 10% of the overall purchase price of the real estate. After the initial agreement is signed, the buyer embarks on obtaining his or her financing while the seller makes certain that the property is capable to being legally conveyed to the buyer, makes certain that there are no legal encumbrances attached to the real estate. The seller must make certain that the buyer can take possession and ownership of the real estate free and clear of any impediment.

The last step in the real estate sales process is the execution of the final sales agreement and the conveyance of the deed from the seller to the buyer. The deed will then be registered with the Land Registry Office which will make necessary changes in the legal records pertaining to the property to reflect the new ownership of the real estate.

More than likely you have heard the term antioxidant by now. However, do you know what it is, why you need it or how you get it? Probably not. So, herein what you need to know about antioxidants will be explained.

This article is about how stress of news reporting affects our society and how it could be managed.

Now suppose I write a complete course on how to murder a minimum of thirty students with two hand guns and six clips of ammo, do you think I could get any free publicity to publicize my course? Stupid question, right? I can’t get any free publicity on how to extend life through managing stress. Publicity on how to kill people?

How about if I demonstrate it and kill myself? Suddenly a different answer.

Why is the answer to the first question, “NO,” and the answer to the second question, “YES?” Double standard?

They all carried the story-”Don Imus Fired!” but not one repeated what he said or even played a recording of his comments, yet we have a deranged mentally ill young adult male named Cho who kills thirty two other young adults, maims many more, and the news media show his tortured soul via his self made video manifesto-he didn’t even have to hire a professional company to shoot it to have it shown all across this great country-free publicity. And what’s even sicker is that some day in the near future, some other deranged mind will probably make a movie of it.

Now there are several issues that dramatically increase the stress on the society-something that simply could have been avoided. What is the price that our society will pay? To get the answer, all you have to do is extrapolate. What happened after DB Cooper was popularized by the news media? What happened after the first case of Tylenol product tampering was popularized by the media? What happed after the first case of anthrax was popularized? What happened after…? Copycats, right?

I use the word popularized because what the media has done is beyond “INFORM.”

We all agree that it takes a deranged, sick, desperate mind to perform these heinous acts. So, what are the chances of other sick deranged, desperate minds coming up with the same or similar heinous acts? The odds are much higher with the media helping, right?

The first issue is suggestibility. From my two decades of private practice many of my client’s problems were from catching suggestions. One of many examples: one fellow and his wife (happily married for twenty years) attended a party during which time they learned that close friends (who they thought were happily married) were getting a divorce after fifteen years of marriage. In our next session, the first thing my client wanted to know was if he should be questioning his relationship-he caught a suggestion. This is how easily suggestions can be caught.

Yes, it’s true that you can’t hypnotize anyone to do anything they normally wouldn’t do, yet there are many mentally ill individuals who would be mass murders given that free course on how to murder over 30 people with two guns and a half dozen clips of ammo. I imagine they would even go to the trouble of taking lessons at a local gun club so their aim would be as good as possible.

We don’t need Al qaeda in this country to create terror; we have all the terror we want from our friendly news agencies feeding ideas to our own grudge carrying mentally ill citizens. The executive responsible for airing the killer’s photo and manifesto justified it by saying, “When that material landed on my door steps, I though we had an obligation to air it.”

The second issue is responsibility. Just as Imus was irresponsible, the news media is being irresponsible, but who’s going to fire the news media? What is needed is a “Responsibility Rating.” Zero is totally irresponsible equivalent to showing Hitler spouting his ideology and ten is totally responsible equivalent to doing a story on each of the Virginia Tech victims-making them the Heros. How many sick deranged people would want to make those whom they hate into important people-no they want to be the martyr.

They kill themselves after a blood bath because? Maybe it’s because they don’t want to be accountable for their wrong distraught angry deeds by sitting in a jail cell for the rest of their lives. But the visual and auditory suggestions the sick deranged individuals get by seeing another sick angry deranged individual in a Clint Eastwood pose pointing two hand guns at the world and then hearing the audio (no matter how inept) justifies their own ill feelings and fuels them to do a better job at creating terror to get even with society, their mother, father, other students…

In summary, the news media hides behind free speech and the public’s “right to know” in order to sell advertising space thru sensationalism. The cost is irresponsible news reporting. On a side note, we are technically at war and the news media are guilty of treason any time they air which railroad corridor, nuclear facilities, watershed… is vulnerable to terrorist attack.

Everyone knows the same thing can be said many different ways (in this case. reported in many different ways)–responsibly or irresponsibly.

It’s amazing, during the airing of the deranged young man’s video, one of the commentators on CNN asked the other commentator if they should be airing the clips. That tells me some are capable of thinking, why not more of them? It’s time for the news media to step up to the plate, and be responsible. Sooner or later someone will invent technology that measures suggestibility that will be accepted in a court of law which will hold irresponsible news castors accountable for inciting terror with copycats. Can you imagine how many tens of millions of dollars each victim’s family could win in a court settlement?

Evidence is in Cho’s manifesto where he mentions Columbine. Is it possible that the way the media handled that catastrophe played it up in Cho’s deranged mind and resulted in the Blacksburg Virginia Tech massacre.
