Alternatives to The Switch

How much do people really want to be rich? If you check in to the Web regularly you might be forgiven for thinking the answer to that question would be ‘everybody’. The internet is so full of ‘opportunities’ and Get-Rich-Quick schemes, that there must be a million gazillion people out there desperate for big finance. Oh really? Okay, let me make it easy for you.

Let’s imagine that I know how to do it. I can tell you - right here, right now - how to fatten your wallet and put banknotes in your pocket. Yes, if I were to say to you, ‘It’s like this. Lookee here. Here’s a switch, (small and round, plastic, like a key fob, an electronic lock for a car).’ I say, ‘All you have to do is press it and you’ll be rich ever after’. That’s it. That’s the whole deal. (Okay, it’s a bit like that film where the guy found some kind of Universal Remote that he could use to ‘change’ everything in his life. Hey, my image is simpler. It’s just the one button, dammit.) Take the switch in hand, press the button and whammo. It’s done. Okay, now how many people would do it? I mean, how many individuals wouldn’t hesitate?

My answer? Most would. Most would look at me, look at the switch. Ask themselves questions. Yes, hesitate. You see, most would be suspicious. ‘How much will it cost?’ might be the first question they would spin at me. Then, ‘What’s the catch?’ might be the next challenge. And then, just to start on the process of convincing themselves that I’m not a total charlatan and there might be some sense in what I’m offering, maybe ‘Did it work for you?’ would be the final thrust.

Trouble is, what I’m offering isn’t so crazy as you might think. In fact, and in effect, it’s exactly what you need - but, and here there really is a catch - the switch is in your head. What you actually do need to do to get those dollars rolling in is to flip the controller you’ve built up over the years in your noggin from ‘poor’ to ‘rich’. Do that, and you will be. Yes, it’s a bit like the secret of dieting. You want to lose weight? Then don’t eat like you’re overweight, eg the place you are now, say 14 stone. No, or even like the person you think you need to be on the way down, ie a skinny little 7 stone person who hardly ingests a pound. No, you need to start - here and now - to learn how to eat like the person you want to be become and do that first, eg 11 stone. Once you get used to that regime, with all the rules and self-imposed restrictions that it involves, ie what you’re going to be like in that golden future when you truly get to the weight that you want to be, then that is what you will become, from now on.

So, what does The Switch need to do? Why it needs to result in you acting like you’re rich. Which means - well, you don’t book that cheapo package holiday at the seaside that you always go on every year (the only one you can afford). You stop acting like the someone who does what they do with the assets that they’ve got and the actions that result. Instead, think of the ideal for you, maybe a week in a luxurious hotel in the middle of the Riviera, in the middle of the South of France. Go ahead. Find out where it is, the arrangements you’d need to make, the cost to you. Do everything but pay for it and get on the plane.

Or, you want to think about the best car you could possibly buy yourself - if you had the money? Fine. Shop around. Find prices, suppliers. Go and look at it in the showroom. Take it out for a test drive. Then excuse yourself, go out onto the lot and take out your chequebook. Write out the cheque that you would be writing to buy the car. If you could. After, go to the most exclusive restaurant you can find. You can do it - just skimp on a few trips to the fast food joints and save up. Get enough money in your pocket that you don’t have to compromise, you can go to your ‘ideal’, say the Savoy Grill, in London. Dress up, take your time, take your seat and examine the menu. Okay, maybe this time you are restricted and are forced to order only what you can afford - but, well, you’ve moved on. Now, you’ll know what’s on the menu, and know how much you’re going to need to really eat there. After all, what’s the alternative? Carrying on, year after year, fed up, no money. Going to the pub and not the cocktail bar, spending money that you can’t really afford anyway. It’s much better not to go down the pub this night, save the money, and then you can have a little of what you really want, yes, that Savoy visit or a day hiring the posh car you really covet.

Why? Because, as the wise man said, if you don’t have a definite aim - with the details - it’s not a plan. It’s a vague hope. Get definite. You want to own an expensive car? It comes quicker if you know what the leather smells like. Same with handling money. Don’t juggle credit cards now and dream about saving and investing in the future. Turn to the Business Pages in the newspaper and start picking your stocks today. Follow their progress and then you can say you save and invest like a rich person does. Above all, don’t say ‘I’ll do all that when I’m rich’. You won’t. Check out the Lottery winners. They don’t change. They spend and waste money like they always did, they just have a bit more paper than they used to. And, finally, try that daydream, over and over. Say to yourself ‘What I would do if I won a million’ and write down a detailed and timed programme for spending and investment. If you can’t do that, if you can’t walk in a rich man’s shoes, if you don’t have a detailed plan of what your life would be like once the riches come flooding in, then you aren’t serious. Don’t be surprised if your current life, your day to day habits now, are all you ever experience. If you want to avoid that future, flip the switch and tell your brain to start acting like the person you want to be, not continuing to cope with the life you’re trying to get out of.

Making Money With Special Reports

One of the easiest ways of making money these days is to offer “How to” money-making reports for sale. Everybody wants to make more money and it seems the public have an insatiable appetite for ideas on how to make money. Satisfy this need and make yourself hundreds of dollars in the process.

This business opportunity works best if your reports are all about showing people how to make money. This is the best selling topic as there seems to be an ever increasing demand for these type of reports. Other types of reports don’t sell so well so it would be best to stick to these money-making reports to ensure quicker success.

GET REPORTS TOGETHER

The first thing to do is to get reports together to form a series based on a specific topic. A series should comprise of between 10-15 reports and each report should be between 2-3 pages in length. These reports will become your products which you offer for sale per series. Remember the best reports to sell are those reports that show people how to make money. You can get reports for resale in one of two ways:

By purchasing reprint rights

Here you use other people’s reports by purchasing the rights to reproduce and sell them for yourself. There are many authors out there who will gladly supply you with a thousand reports with reprint rights for around $50. One such place is www.cashmaker.co.za/reports.php http://www.cashmaker.co.za/reports.php You only pay for these reports once and no other royalty payments are levied. This means that you get to keep 100% of the profits for yourself.

By writing them yourself

If you are fairly knowledgeable and experienced in specific money-making opportunities, you may wish to put these down on paper. Even if you don’t know much about something, you can research on the internet and/or libraries. Another way to put together information is to speak to experts in the field. You’ll be amazed that most of these ‘experts’ are helpful individuals who will not hesitate to impart their knowledge and advice.

Once you’ve accumulated these reports and formed them into a series of 10-15 reports, you are now ready to begin marketing them. A great price to charge for these reports is $10-$15 per series.

MARKETING THESE REPORTS

There are two ways to market these reports. One is through conventional mail order and the other through the internet.

Conventional mail order

Prepare a one page sales brochure describing your reports. Make this brochure appealing to your customer, include a price and an order form. Now write out a 3-4 line classified ad and place this in relevant sections in various newspapers. You would ask respondents to write or call for further information. An example of a classified ad may look like this: Free Report! How to make big $$ in your mailbox everyday! Send SASE to ……

It’s a good idea to ask for a SASE (self-addressed-stamped-envelope) from readers as it saves you postage. Once you receive the SASE from the reader, you place a sales brochure into it and post it. If readers like your offer, they will send you a payment through the mail by check or postal order. Alternatively, you could place a larger ad in magazines and newspapers with much more information, including an order coupon and order details. A customer will place their order directly to you upon reading your larger ad. This order will also come through the mail. Another great idea is to rent mailing lists of income opportunity seekers from a mailing list broker and mail out your sales brochures to these prospects.

Internet

The internet has made it easier and cheaper for mail order businesses to operate. Here you will do a web page detailing your offer. You will need to link up to a payment processor like Paypal to debit your customers’ credit cards or Paypal accounts. You advertise your offer in free classifieds, through pay-per-click advertising or through email campaigns. A visitor, interested in your offer, will read through your web page and place their order with their credit card or Paypal account. The credit card processor will collect the monies on your behalf and remit it to you.

ORDER FULFILLMENT

Your last step in this process is to fill the customer’s order - a process known as order fulfillment. Obviously, the process varies depending on what sales method you have used.

Conventional mail order

Once you receive a customer’s order with payment, you may now post the reports to the customer. You have the reports photocopied, bind them neatly if necessary and insert them into a big envelope. Affix the correct postage stamps to this and post.

Internet

Prepare your reports either in pdf format or text format. You upload a copy to your server and note the location of this file. Your website then needs to be integrated with the payment processor so that as soon as there has been a successful payment, your customer is taken to a download page that shows a link to this file or you can set it so that an automatic email is sent to the customer providing the download link. Your customer may then download these reports on to their computer by right-clicking the download link and choosing “Save Target As”.

I was first introduced to this concept eighteen years ago and even up to this day, it is still a greatly successful and lucrative opportunity. Give it a try and you’ll see what I mean!

‘Dem Bones

Inflamed joints. If your dog isn’t running, jumping and playing with ease, he just might have them. And that means treatment for arthritis could be in your pooch’s future.

But before you go jumping to any conclusions, watch your pet for signs of the disease - like difficulty getting up or walking, limping, avoiding the stairs, swollen or warm joints, etc. Any vet diagnosing the problem will certainly ask you about things like these. And before you start any treatment, a trip to the vet is an absolute must!

Your vet will likely prescribe a specially developed medical treatment for the problem - but, according to PETCO.com ( www.petco.com/Content/Article.aspx?PC=article&Nav=153&PetTypeID=1&TopicID=12&id=2132 http://www.petco.com/Content/Article.aspx?PC=article&Nav=153&PetTypeID=1&TopicID=12&id=2132 ), there are some simple things you can also do to make your dog feel better, naturally. For instance:

• If your dog is overweight, ask your vet to recommend a diet that will help him shed the extra pounds and put less stress on his joints.

• Once the pain is under control and your vet has cleared your dog for exercise, find some exercises for your pooch that maintain strength and flexibility - like swimming, short, gentle walks on level ground, etc.

• Ask your veterinarian about dietary supplements for your pained pooch. There are many tales about the wonders of glucosamine, but your doctor can shed a little medical light on the subject and give you the right dosage information - if it’s right for your dog.

• To ease your dog’s condition when he’s resting, place his padded bed in a warm, dry area. This will give your four-legged friend a comfortable spot to relax that will also keep him from over-exerting himself or putting undue stress on his joints.

Of course, there’s no substitute for knowing your dog, so at the first sign of discomfort - even if he’s already on a treatment program - talk to your vet. It might be time for a change in therapy or something as simple as getting him a new bed.

Using the Life Cycle in Your Writing

Life is said to evolve in three stages. Creation, survival and destruction. Similar to the life cycle of birth, life, death, and resurrection, these cycles should be reflected in your writing.

In the first part of a story, a character may be creating a career, a new love, a new relationship, a new home, or a new family. In the middle of the book, she is just trying to survive and make ends meet. After getting burnt out, the character might go through a mid-life crisis and walk off from a job, a marriage, or a family, seemingly destroying all she has built. But this is where the cycle of life, birth, death, and resurrection repeats itself. The character intuitively senses she has died inside and wants to reinvent herself to experience the feelings of creation again. On the other hand, you might start your story at the death cycle. That is, the point in the story that the character runs off from her old stifling life.

Have an idea of cause/effect, and understand the relationships of the different characters, and your story will fit together in a unified whole. If not, the story will seem episodic.

Your story should have layers like the concentric rings in a tree. The bark is the outer story; the inner rings are the inner life of your characters, their social/interpersonal life, and their relationship to the world.

Your novel should have branches: your subplots which mirror your main plot.

Your novel should have roots: the things that ground the main character(s) or the backstory, which motivates the characters.

Your novel should bear fruit: your theme.

Remember. The worst writing is often published, applauded and celebrated-that is, fiction that assumes no risk on the part of the writer. This type of writing makes the reader comfortable about the world he lives in and does not challenge any of his assumptions about life. Unfortunately, good fiction often deals with moral ambivalence, no pat answers. It often ends with the wrong or ambiguous choices, resulting in no clear cut triumphs or happy-ever-after Hollywood endings, but haunting, sometimes disturbing resolutions. I think of the endings of Morrison’s Beloved, Song of Solomon, and Sula, and I’ll never forget how it took me years to see the realism in these endings.

The theme of resurrection has always surfaced in literature. On a global level, this has translated into people reinventing their lives. This is why we’re seeing so many second careers. This is what this book is a part of for me-a second career and a brand new life. This is my resurrection. Please use it to re-create yourself. Learn to write riveting fiction. May you ever be in a creative mold in your writing.

PC Wars-The Saga Continues

At one time Dell Computer was one of the extraordinary growth stories in America. Michael Dell could do no wrong. There then comes a time in every entrepreneur’s career when he or she has to recognize, it’s time to step aside and let new, historically proven managers come in and run with the ball.

Michael Dell stepped down two years ago, and turned the ball over to Kevin Rollins who runs the company on a day to day basis. Dell either has to be kicking himself in the butt for turning the reigns over to Rollins, or be happy that he himself is not on the firing line at the moment.

Dell was innovative in selling directly to the consumer as a business model. It worked brilliantly for years. The firm had no equal in the direct to consumer market. Dell also was encouraged to sell big time to the corporate market. All great technology oriented growth companies hit walls. My work shows that it tends to happen about 7 years or so into the growth process. The exceptional growth company can take longer before it hits the wall, and has to reinvent itself. The word reinvent is the correct one to use.

Microsoft has now entered such a period, having become a cash cow as opposed to being a growth company. In my history of technology investing which goes back 35 years, I have never found a growth company that has not hit a wall somewhere in the growth process.

What happens is that companies at some point tend to rest on their laurels, their past successes and glories. They become so committed to what they are doing, that they become incapable of seeing the next revolution sneak up behind their backs and challenge them for supremacy. It always happens and it’s always the same way with the same result. Never have I seen a single growth company that could reinvent the revolution. It’s always some new kid on the block that spearheads the next new thing.

The consumer has probably now reached a stage where he wants to walk into a store and see what he’s getting for his money as opposed to just reading specs on his computer and talking to an outsourced person in India who is absolutely clueless about American culture.

In the last five quarters, Dell has missed on the estimates that it has given Wall Street. In the last quarter there has been a 51% decline in quarterly profit, and now a recall on 4 million laptop batteries to boot (no pun intended). This is not the way to run a major Fortune 100 company.

Things always get worse before they get better.

When a growth company hits the wall and starts to decline, the decline usually has to go for quite a while before a new management team takes the reins and starts to engineer a midcourse correction. This is like turning an aircraft carrier around. First you have to make the decision to go another way. You then have to get everybody else on board quickly. It takes several miles to get a carrier turned around at sea; it’s not easy for corporate management to do it either.

Dell will have to re-examine its direct to customer sales model, because right now Hewlett Packard is eating them for lunch. The stock is down 60% from its high for good reason. The stock market is telling you something. Is anybody listening down there in Texas.

Dell bet big on the corporate market, and completely failed to take into account the changing sentiments of the consumer market. Dell needs to grow bigger outside the United States. Everyone agrees that the US market is not really a growth market at the moment. The firm must increase international sales to a point where it’s growing 15 to 20% internationally. I don’t see it happening.

Somebody and not Rollins has to address the lackluster customer service in this country. Why not Rollins? It’s because he was in charge of the company when the problem became a problem. You never want the guy who was involved with the problem to be the guy who fixes the problem. He’s too busy protecting himself than to fix the problem. That’s management 101.

Dell use to be almost perfectly run. They had the low cost model, and the competition, namely Hewlett Packard, Acer, Apple, and China’s Lenovo were always playing catch-up, and stumbling trying to catch up. Why did they stumble, it’s the same in football, you go for the long bomb when you are behind in the fourth quarter. Now the competition finds its model working, and Dell is stumbling.

I realize that Dell has spent money fixing customer support, and trying to convince people that their product is no longer a commodity. I have seen zero results from this expenditure at this time. In my own work as a money manager, I have lowered my estimates for this company six times in the last twelve months. I currently do not carry it in a single portfolio. Fortunately, I missed the whole move downward, and I am not willing to bet on this company yet.

Yes, Dell is now considered a value stock by many. The problem is that the growth players haven’t been completely washed out of the stock yet. This will take more time. The institutions that have had a tough time performing this year will be under pressure to rid their portfolios of Dell by year end if the stock doesn’t perform. Dell has agreed to market processors by AMD as well as Intel. They will probably take a hit to their margins because Intel was probably rebating them back a portion of the sales to be an exclusive with Dell.

The company is still sitting with almost $11 billion in cash on the balance sheet, which works out to about $4.50 per share. Wall Street is in the process of lowering estimates for 07. Here’s the bottom line, with Dell you still have a valuation risk. Hewlett Packard is growing faster and selling cheaper. The only reason to own Dell here is its previous extraordinary history, but in stocks the past is not always prologue to the future. A stock has no ideas where it traded yesterday, and Dell has to execute on a believable strategy. Go figure.

Goodbye and good luck

The Recommended Diet For Menopause

You are what you eat-especially during menopausal years. As people-especially women-get older, the digestive tract becomes less and less efficient leading to a longer digestion process. This is why knowing the proper and balanced diet is quite significant so you will know how to select foods that your body needs.

Nutritionists advise women nearing menopausal years to do everything possible to ensure that they eat a diet that is balanced and can provide the nutrients their body might need.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DIET DURING MENOPAUSAL YEARS

Experts say that knowing the proper diet for menopausal women is one excellent way of fighting the emotional, physical, and spiritual changes they experience. They also agree that to be able to manage menopause, women must be meticulous in the food they take in and they should keep in mind the important food group for their age like proteins and protein alternatives, adding up servings of grains and carbohydrates, dairy products, fats, and tons of fruits and vegetables.

Knowing the proper diet during menopausal years will help you manage the distressing symptoms of menopause. Keep in mind that good diet nutrition does not only minimizes the possibility of physical, mental, emotional, and health risks during menopausal years. If you are determined to combat the symptoms of menopause even before it gets worst, try some these healthy menopause diet suggestions.

1. Take in as many fruits and vegetables in your every meal. Fruits like melons, bananas, and citrus fruits that are rich in potassium along with veggies like spinach, yam, cabbage, and broccoli can be a perfect source for the nutrients you need and can even help balance your body’s sodium and water retention.

2. Go heavy on soy. Known to contain phytoestrogens-a chemical that has the characteristics of estrogen-soy is recommended in the diet of every menopausal woman because it reduces the possibilities of hot flushes. The bets sources of soy include tofu, soy nuts, tempeh, soy yogurt, and soymilk.

3. Take in a lot amounts of fiber-especially soluble fiber-on regular basis.

4. Delete the entries of junk or fried foods in your list. Instead of munching junk foods, take in broil or baked products instead.

5. Forget about white bread/flour in your bread. Eat products that include wholegrain bread, oats, rye, and wheat germ.

6. Stop eating white rice-with basmati or brown rice as an exception.

7. Veer away from regular potatoes. Instead switch to sweet potatoes or pasta.

8. If you’re not suffering from arthritis, add beans and lentils to your regular meals.

9. Opt for virgin olive oil, canola, wheat germ, or flaxseed oil instead of processed cooking oils when cooking.

10. Oily fish as salmon or mackerel should be a regular part of your diet because these are rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids that have wide range of health benefits.

Experts also recommended the addition of Vitamin C, D and E, bioflavonoids, isoflavones, B-complex, calories, calcium, Lignans (a form of phytoestrogen), Magnesium, Phosphorus, and Zinc to your diet to help fight the symptoms of menopause.

Indeed, having a balanced diet is just one of the so many things that men and women can do to reduce the discomfort brought by the symptoms of menopause.

Experts say that healthy eating wouldn’t only prevent weight gain but will also help alleviate the more challenging symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, irritability, and mood fluctuations.

Although there is no proven or concrete diet plan for menopausal men and women today, nutritionists believe that dietary recommendations containing the right amount of foods from a specific food group can be an effective way to treat the burden caused by menopause.

Remember, having a healthy menopause diet will not only maintain optimal health of the menopausal individual but will also decrease the risks of developing more complicated illnesses brought by the hormonal changes of the body.

The Seven Secrets: From Novice to Novelist

Regardless of the novel you want to write, there are seven elements you’ve got to have. Call them personality traits, work habits, tools, it really doesn’t matter. If you’ve got them, your work is going to be that much more rewarding and that much more successful. If you don’t have them, you’ve got develop them

The first one is… a mastery of output. If you haven’t written your book yet, the only difference between you and a published author is that they’ve written their book and you haven’t. They took the time to do it and you didn’t. So get that started first. You’ve got to write each and every day. No exceptions unless you’re unconscious (you can still dictate if you’re in bed.) No, you’re not going to commit to writing for 30 minutes. You’re going to commit to writing at least x number of pages between 9:30 and 10:00. You pick the time and the number of pages. It’s an appointment with yourself that’s every bit as important as an appointment with dentist, business associate, customer or your child’s piano recital. Make it a keep it.

The appointment has four critical elements to it. The start time tells you when to begin. If you don’t have a definite start time, you’ll never get started because there’s nothing forcing you to do so. Something else will always come up. Guaranteed. Even on a day when you have nothing else to do, you’ll get distracted by a simple paperclip on your desk or the pressing need to straighten the books on the shelf. This is the time you’ll start and you mean it.

Next, you have an end time. At that time you’re moving on to something else. The big challenge here is that the first few times you do it, you won’t know how many pages you can actually produce in that amount of time. So you may reach the end of the appointment and not have written the required number of pages. Or, even better, you may have written more than enough pages, and still have 10 minutes left in the appointment. With my system, you know you’re writing 2/3 of a page every five minutes, so you can get it down pretty precisely. Always be pushing yourself to increase the number of pages you write during the writing period.

The third critical element for a mastery of writing output is knowing the number of pages you’re going to write during that appointment. You’re not going to write until you finish that thought, or write until the hands of the clock have moved the required distance, you’re writing to produce those pages. So write them.

Don’t worry about quality, or skill, or story development, or characterization. Those are all factors you deal with elsewhere. You’re here solely to put out four pages. Whether they’re good or bad, frankly, is hardly important. You just have to get them done and done now. Initially it can look pretty daunting, but I assure you, it’s not nearly as difficult as you might think. Give yourself a few days of trying it, and you’ll be amazed at how effective you become.

Finally, write fast. You’re not there to mull and fret over every word. If you’re doing that, you had better increase the required output for the appointment, because you’re wasting time. I’m not talking about being frantic, or scribbling (if you’re using a pen) so fast that you can’t read your own handwriting when you go back later. I’m saying only that your writing must be constant, and relentless. Pick a relatively quick writing tempo and keep going. If you’ve done the required preparation work you’ll have not problem with content, or having the thoughts flow into your head quickly enough.

If, at the end of your writing appointment, you haven’t written the number of pages you set out to produce, don’t beat yourself up. Take a few seconds and ask yourself why. There’s always a simple logistical reason, and it has nothing to do with your writing ability or whether you’re a good or bad person.

For the next writing appointment, make the adjustment and accomplish the objective. Don’t tell yourself you have to write an additional two pages to make up for yesterday’s shortfall. You’ll never be able to catch up and you’ll just become despondent. Start afresh every time.

Steve Manning is a master writer showing thousands of people how they can write their book faster than they ever thought possible. Here’s your free book-writing library, www.WriteABookNow.com/main.html http://www.WriteABookNow.com/main.html .

The fact, that midsize business ERP system implementation should be planned and thought through - what-ifs and rollbacks. This is not a recent management science discovery. Plus - it also known from the managerial theory that key people and the whole company team involvement is highly recommended, and even required. In this small article we will concentrate on the generic technology pitfalls as well as the coordination with several high-tech contractors and you internal IT team. We will assume that you are on Microsoft Windows platform and implementing Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains, however similar advises are applicable to Navision, Solomon, Axapta and Microsoft CRM implementation scenarios

• Computer network factor. When you implement ERP, you have to use your Windows Domain or Workgroup as a platform with multiple tunings and connectors to make your ERP hosted and implemented in this environment: shared network folders, network printers (preferred printers with their driver for specific GP documents printing), Reporting access and security (in the case of GP you restring access you your FRx sysdata, where reports are stored in metadata, for example)

• Contractors management. If you deploy different companies to build your IT network and implement ERP - both companies may be pretty confident in their core expertise, however if they do not work out shared vision of implementation - it may fail in the interoperability area. This is especially possible when IT contractor moves ERP system to new hardware (new more scalable server) without MRP consultants being involved. General advise - consider having one of your employees or insiders playing project management role to coordinate your contractors

• Documentation and Control. When you are small, you probably just have business owner or your trusted employee to keep in her/his mind the system and support it as needed. However, when you are in the midsize business category, when your IT department has several people, and you don’t have documentation and business processes MRP automation workflow - there is the risk of losing control, especially when you decide to change ERP consulting contractor, or if you have to replace your IT internal workforce. Specific GP case would be keeping Dexterity source code of your custom piece - DYNAMICS.DIC with your scripts

• Traditional ERP Implementation Wisdom. In this article we don’t repeat it in detail, however, we recognize its importance and encourage you to familiarize yourself with traditional ERP implementation success factors. It may orient you and prevent you from repeating common errors. If you need quick directions, in google enter “ERP Implementation” and read few articles on the top

Assuming That Your Move To A New Country Will Go Smoothly Without A Action Plan, Is A Recipe For Disaster

If you just landed a new posting or job, or moved to a new environment in a completely foreign country, are you adjusting well to all the changes? Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and frustrated with what you have to learn in order to feel at home? Is your spouse suffering with the changes, leaving you feeling like you can’t help because of your travel schedule?

In my work as a coach working with people in transition, I often tell my clients; “Step back, look at your current situation and take a deep breath. Just rest for five minutes and relax from your hectic day.” They initially think I have no idea what I’m talking about.

Many people who have made similar changes in their lives feel that there is no time to step back, and certainly not a second to relax. My clients initially respond to my suggestions with something like the following:

“I don’t have any time at all to ’step back’”, I just have to move quickly and get things done. I have a thousand things on my agenda and even more on my mind. My life is in total chaos between the job, the kids, the new language I have to learn and the strangeness of this new culture…. I don’t even sleep well because of my head spinning with all I’m taking on!”

Exactly! You’re probably exhausting yourself trying to do everything on your list and very soon feel completely overwhelmed by your circumstances. It doesn’t have to be this way because there are solutions. What’s more, the solutions are within you…. you just have to consider how to approach what’s in front of you with a plan… and THEN some action.

Taking the time to assess what you need to do means that you first must know and fully understand what the problems are. This is where taking the time to step back and honestly look at your situation, offers you the perspective and peace that you so desperately need. Then you will be able to create an action plan that works, instead of just adding to your stress.

Let me give you an example of this:

A high level expatriate lived his entire career life outside of his home country. During those years away, he and his family became used to traveling and living affluently with a tremendous amount of help with the day-to-day details. When they decided to return to their home country they assumed things would all work out. They bought an expensive home and began to entertain people at lavish dinner parties set in their abundant gardens, not compromising their accustomed way of living. As time progressed, they discovered how difficult it was to maintain their high standard of living. Without a maid, and only occasional help from a gardener they were doing all the work themselves, and ultimately the expatriate had a heart attack. His wife, who had been a brilliant entrepreneur, reduced herself to menial labor to keep the house together and continue having parties. They both discovered that despite all their efforts at welcoming many people into their lives, they had not developed any real friendships. They were, in fact, isolated and tired from all their efforts without accomplishing what they wanted which was to become part of a community and enjoy their lives. When they finally found me, they were demoralized and frustrated.

These people did not take their time to investigate what they were embarking on when they changed their lifestyle. They would have benefited tremendously if they had done a bit of research on the changes inherent with moving to a new country, and followed an action plan.

Do we want to live there? If so, what plan or approaches do we need to follow to be able to enjoy our lives in new surroundings? Who can help us makes these changes, and what is it worth?

When you are making a life change and you take time to reflect on what you want you will discover more about how to actually get what you want from your life. Talk things over with your family; discuss them with your friends and certainly, your coach. This small action can save you months, or years, of struggle and hard work, as well as bring you closer to living your life joyfully!

How to Win a Russian Woman with Words

Someone really ought to write The American Man’s Guidebook to Avoid Infuriating a Russian Woman during Correspondence because there are certainly enough American men out there looking for a Russian companion who want to make a good impression, but don’t know where to begin. Even fewer know the biggest mistakes to avoid when writing a Russian woman. While I’m not prepared to write a book on the subject, I do have a few tips for men who are looking for a compatible partner in a woman from Russia.

Like women anywhere, Russian women dislike men that are dishonest, mean spirited and have bad tempers as well as those who are unreliable and of course unfaithful. Many Russian women tend to dislike facial hair and are apt to avoid a man who is obese. However, these same women are not disenchanted by a man who is ten to fifteen years older.

Because Russian women are not desperate to leave Russia, writing the wrong things will end in a quick rejection. Before you decide to write a Russian woman, learn about the culture. Begin to study what is considered normal and acceptable behavior and what is not. You’ll find some very interesting things like that handwriting a letter is considered cheap or that appearing in photos wearing shorts and no shirt is disrespectful.

Remember there is a strong western influence on today’s Russian woman. She sees American television, listens to American music and often eats American foods. While a Russian woman would rarely call herself a feminist, she is independent by fate and takes on many responsibilities as a regular course of life. To assume that she will be docile and obedient is a big mistake. To command her in anything is a major mistake. With Russian women, if you want something, ask and the likelihood is you’ll get it.

Another common mistake when writing a Russian woman is to begin the letter with Dear and tell her you find her beautiful. The word dear in Russian has a very intimate connotation and is better left for when you know the Russian woman better. To tell her she is beautiful is another way of convincing her you want only one thing and are not interested in her as a person. When considering things that will make a Russian woman feel devalued, keep in mind that trying to impress her with the things you have will only serve to make her feel you are trying to make her one of your possessions.

Lastly, if you want to avoid infuriating Russian women during correspondence, make sure you never stop writing without an explanation. If you find she is not the one for you, tell her.
