Faq’s For Helping Children Grieve The Loss Of A Family Member

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 6:07 pm

Coping with a death in the family is one of the most difficult challenges that you and your children will ever undertake. Before you begin explaining death to your child, it may be very helpful to look back at your own childhood experiences with death.

Did anyone talk to you about death?

What did they tell you about death?

Did you have stories about death that you never spoken? about?

Do you remember what you were told about what happens? when someone dies?

Because of their own past experiences, some parents think they need to protect their children from dealing with death.

FAQ’s

1. How do I explain death to a young child?

Tell your children the truth and answer your child’s questions. Go to the library and take out children’s books on death and read them to your child.

2. How should I tell my child?

Use language they can understand. Be careful not to use the words “went away”, “lost”, etc. Young children will take you very literally and want to know why Grandpa has not returned or will want to know when we will go look for him.

3. How much information should I share with my child?

Use common sense for how much information you need to share based on developmental stage of your child. Keep it simple, for example “Grandpa got sick and his heart stopped working.

4. Should I bring to my child to the funeral or service?

If your child can sit through a service without you having to entertain him/her or having to get up and take him or her out, s/he is able to go to the funeral.

5. Should I let my child see me cry?

Grieve in front of your child. (Do not hide your sadness, instead show it is okay to cry when someone dies.)

6. What should I say when my child sees me sad?

Your child will ask you if you are sad. Answer him/her, “Yes, I am, because I loved Grandpa very much.”

7. How do I keep the memories alive of the loved one who has died? died?

Talk with your child about the experiences that they had with the loved one. Look at photos together and make it okay to bring up the loved one’s name.

8. What if my child thinks that I will also die?

Explain to your child that that is not likely- but be careful. We all will die. We just don’t know when. Most people live a long life.

9. How do I know if my child is grieving in the “right way”?

There is no right way to grieve. Every child will grieve differently. And there is no length of time when your child should be “done” or “over it”. It is a process and grief needs to run its course.

10. What do I do if I can’t handle it?

Sometimes parents are so overwhelmed themselves in grieving that they would benefit from some help and guidance. A parent coach can help you take care of yourself while simultaneously providing support and caring for your children following a death in the family.

GPS technology and fishing

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 4:50 pm

What type of fisherman are you? Are you satisfied go out and drop your fishing line and be totally unconcerned about if you catch anything or not? Is the time that you spend with your family, friends or even by your self enjoying nature what your trip is really all about? If you don’t caught anything that’s fine-you can always stop at the fish shop on the way home, but it would be nice if you caught something. Or do you feel like your trip’s been ruined because you didn’t caught anything, and go home frustrated. Or is fishing how you make your living, either by catching fish or taking customers out to fish? If you take a customer out to do some deep sea fishing, it would be much better to bring home a happy customer with his catch, who could be possibly a repeat customer or tells his friends about how great his trip was bringing you additional work. A frustrated customer will think twice about using your services again and when planning his next trip, might go elsewhere and may be steering other potential customers away from you. What if there was a way to make sure you go where the fish are? What if there was a way to guarantee that you would catch your limit, to be able to ensure that your customers will go home happy and raving about your great service.

With GPS technology it is now possible to go where the fish are and to remember the spot so you can relocate it. The other good thing about using a GPS while on the water is safety. You can enter the spot where you put your boat in the water in the memory of your GPS unit. Most GPS units hold at least 500 landmarks or areas where you want to get to. If you run into fog or bad weather you should be able to find your way back. Also if you stay out longer than expected you can find your way back in the dark. If you run into an emergency while on the water, you can call someone and let them know your coordinates, and then they could find you. If someone falls overboard a GPS unit can pinpoint the exact area where the incident happened and helping rescue crews with their rescue. This allows you to enjoy your day and not worry about getting back to land safely.

A chart plotter GPS with a map chip can give you your position relative to land features, water depth, and harbor entrances. Using a GPS with a water depth can allow you to follow the bottom looking for fish. It is also possible to let others know about a spot that you have found by using GPS coordinates.

Often people like to fish around a wreck, with a GPS unit you can enter the location of the wrecks to be able to find them easily. Plus knowing where a wreck is only part of the scenario, you need to know how deep that wreck is and if there are any areas you need to avoid. Often a fishing trip starts out before daylight, with a GPS you can pinpoint where you are going.

No matter what your intent is when you go fishing. A GPS can enhance that experience.

Scams, Spams, Viruses and Spyware - Protecting Yourself Online

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 5:35 pm

On the Internet, there’s so much to see and do. You can communicate, shop, play and learn. It’s a veritable treasure trove of information and activities for just about anyone of any age. Unfortunately, just like in the real world, everything also has a downside. For the Internet, that downside includes, scams, spam, viruses and spyware. Basically, people who want to take advantage of you. This article will give you some basics for protecting yourself online.

Scams

One of the worst scams comes to you via email, in the form of phishing emails. They come to you in the form of an email from banks, eBay, a store, Paypal or other business or financial institution. The email will have the name of the company in the from area and the email may look real, complete with corporate logos and official sounding text. Don’t be fooled, however. A reputable financial institution or business will never ask you for your username, password, account number or other sensitive personal information via email. NEVER click on the link to the site provided in their email. If you are unsure if the email is fake, then open up your browser and manually type in the URL of the company’s website. Go there and login and see if they are requesting something from you there. Chances are, they aren’t. You can report these emails or simply delete them.

Other scam emails may come to you from foreign countries asking you to hold a large sum of money for them, in return you get a percentage of the money, usually millions of dollars. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. This scam has been around for years, don’t fall for it. It’s just a way to get your bank account information and to empty it before you even realize what has happened.

Scam websites are also a problem, whether it’s a fly by night store, a phony eBay seller or a store that’s actually just trying to get you to give them your personal information for marketing purposes, you can easily avoid these by checking eBay feedback, store reviews via Google and the BBB and other consumer complaint websites.

The solution to scams? Be vigilant. Never click a URL in an email that looks the least bit suspicious. Always check the feedback, reviews and ratings of sellers before buying and never, ever give away your personal information to a website that looks suspicious.

Spam

Spam can be a huge problem if you have had your email address for any length of time. No matter how well you protect your email address by not giving it out to anyone you don’t know, you’re still going to get spam. You can, however, minimize the time you spend dealing with spam by adjusting the options in your ISP or web mail preferences section. For most web email addresses, like Yahoo Mail, Gmail and Hotmail, you can adjust or train the spam filters so that spam rarely makes it to your main inbox but instead ends up in your Bulk Mail or Junk Mail folder. For AOL users, they have a similar Spam Mail folder and email options which you can adjust to your liking. For stand alone email programs using POP email boxes, any good email program will have spam and junk mail filters as well as allow you to set rules for which mail is deleted, flagged or sent in to the Junk Mail folder according to preferences you set. If you still have a problem, you may consider a third party program like MailWasher at mailwasher.net or SingleFin from singlefin.net. Both programs are free and should help solve or minimize your spam problem.

Viruses

Viruses are a common problem if you spend any time online. That greeting card attachment your friend forwarded you contained more than a greeting card, you’ve now got a virus! Viruses can slow your computer down, slow down your web surfing or they can do more serious damage like relay sensitive information like your bank login information to a hacker or at the worst end, erase your entire hard drive! To prevent these problems, you should never open attachments unless it’s been scanned by a virus program first, also don’t download any files from suspicious websites, stick to the well known download sites instead, like download.com. To help keep your computer clean of viruses, download and install one of the many anti-virus programs available. Some good ones are AVG Free Anti-Virus, from grisoft.com and Avast Anti-Virus from avast.com. Both programs are free and will automatically check for new versions of their virus databases so you are protected from existing and new viruses.

Spyware

Spyware is also a common problem that can slow your computer down tremendously and run programs on your computer without you even knowing. Spyware can come from websites, even well known and reputable websites but usually spyware is contained in certain free programs, like games and software that is free due to banner ads or other advertising inside the program. Since spyware can slow down your computer, it’s a good idea to download and install at least one program that will protect you from spyware. Two good ones are Spyware Doctor from pctools.com and Ad-Aware SE from lavasoft.de.

Once you have downloaded and installed your anti-virus and spyware protection software, be sure to schedule a full scan of your computer often, at least once a week or more to help keep your computer running fast and smooth.

10 Dating Tips for Divorced Men part 1

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 5:27 pm

What do you do when you just went through a bitter divorce and now you find yourself on the single scene once again??

Where do you start?

How do you meet women again?

Do you know how to properly approach beautiful women? Sometimes, it appears that the times have drastically changed since you were last single. How do you begin anew?

In my line of work, I get all sorts of clients and inevitably some of the men are divorced guys looking to work the single scenes, except they have no idea where to begin. It’s been a quite a while since they hit the bar scene with the fellas and approached girls and now, what perhaps used to be second nature, feels a bit foreign.

It seems as if the times have changed so much. Perhaps they never great at attracting women and they feel like they lucked out with that one girl they married, and now she is gone. Oh, what will they do now??

Now, I have to be honest with you. I have never been divorced. Then again, that may be because I have never been married either. My job is to help guys from all walks of life meet women, build attraction, and have a successful dating life. My job is to help men attract women. Whether you plan to get married again or not is none of my business.

If you have been out of the scene for a while, you need to become acclimated into the single scene once again.

Now, I am going to lay out a specific 10 Step program to enable you to effectively join the single scene again and start attracting more women.

***STEP 1- Attitude readjustment***

It all starts with your ATTITUDE. This is the first step!

You have to make a decision. I can give you all sorts of dating advice but it won’t do you any good until you decide that you want to get this part of your life handled.

So you have a choice: You can either sit there, bitch and complain about how the times have changed, about how it’s been so long since you have done the single thing, and what a shame it is, OR you can make a decision NOW to attract a great woman (women) in your life. If you are reading through this article, perhaps you have already made this decision!

This is a time to celebrate your freedom! Chances are if you were married for 15 or 20 years, you were institutionalized, sort of like the character of Brooks from the classic movie The Shawshank Redemption. If you’ve seen the movie, you know exactly what I am talking about. Brooks from Shawshank wanted to choose staying in a sadistic and brutal prison rather than celebrate a freedom that came with uncertainty.

When you were married, things made sense even if the circumstances were atrocious. Now, things suddenly do not make sense and this is a scary feeling.

You must realize that this is a temporary state, and it will pass. You’re not the first man to become divorced, nor are you the last.

In fact 60% of marriages end up in a divorce in some parts of the country so you’re in pretty good company.

Adjust your attitude. Start to realize that you have just opened the door to a world of new possibilities. Celebrate your new found freedom and the door that has just been opened to new possibilities.

***STEP 2- Burn your old clothes. Time for a makeover***

Look, I know it’s possible that you were already a sharp dresser. Anything is possible!! We live in a country that lets Geraldo on TV! In my experience, however, most men have no clue how to dress properly and when it comes to married men, forget about it.

In my experience, most married men I meet, have settled into a comfort zone where the sweatshirt over plain pants look has become their calling card. If you are back on the single scene, it’d help if you started to once again take care of your appearance. It’s time to a grab a few new outfits, a pair of new shoes, and do some grooming.

I understand how basic this sounds but you may be astounded as to how many guys I come across who fail their basic grooming. Just make sure your hair (don’t care if it’s completely shaved or in a pompadour,) your beard/goatee, looks like it’s been cared for.

Good Breath is on top of this list. The problem is most people including many of your buddies won’t tell you that you have bad breath. They’ll just run away. Our first step is to make certain that we are taking care of the basics.

Change the way you dress, start grooming, and look presentable. Look like you’re in demand and that you know it!

***STEP 3- Start Approaching***

Make an effort to approach more women and grow your social circle. You have to start socializing more with women as well as more men. Most married couples hang out with other married couples, talk about babies, fight over bills, and watch reruns of Law & Order.

It’s needless to say that regardless of the conversational topics, this particular social circle isn’t going to introduce you to as many single women as you’d like to meet. Hence, it’d be very wise to start creating new social circles that include single people, or at the very least, people in relationships who are still in touch with the single world.

You must realize that this takes some effort on your part. You ought to start initiating conversations with more women everywhere you go. Most people immediately think of going to bars and clubs. Depending on your age, taste, likes and dislikes, you may not be a bar/club guy. That’s certainly understandable.

You can still make an effort to approach women during your daily activities which could range from supermarket and coffee-shops to various classes, clubs, and the gym.

You also may want to give online personals a try. I’d only advise you to utilize the personals as a supplemental means to meet women, not as your only means to meet new women.

***STEP 4- Start exercising again***

I am being a bit presumptuous here. If you’re doing it already, that’s fantastic. Most married guys start growing horizontally. Exercise will make you FEEL better physically, emotionally, and mentally. It will also boost your self-confidence which is of the utmost importance! Plus if you join a gym, you will meet new people, females as well as males. (Not to mention that it will improve your physical appearance.)

This is not a ploy to pick up women. You’ll feel better because of it!

***STEP 5- Establishing New networks***

Look to create a network of single friends who really enjoy going out and meeting women. Nothing would probably encourage you more to actually enjoy going out and meeting women more than surrounding yourself with a few guys who like to have a good time and socialize.

Hanging with introverts who want to sit home and maybe play a card game or two is not going to help you meet more women. If you are going to hang with guys like that, then make sure you balance it with hanging with a few animals who want to hit the outdoor life.

OK, we are half way there. Part 2 of this article covers the next 5 steps that will enable you to attract desirable women. Please continue to the next section.

Wishing you the best,

What is Credit Card Debt Consolidation and What Do You Need to Do?

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 5:23 pm

There is a plethora of credit card companies out there offering a variety of credit cards. They bombard you with a number of tempting offers that ultimately gets you into a vicious circle of debt, right up to your gills. Getting out of credit card debt is not very easy, and you need to tackle it head on. The only sure shot way to remain out of a credit card debt trap is not to use your credit card at all! As this is not going to happen, go for credit card debt consolidation.

Eliminating Credit Card Debt

It is imperative that you eliminate your credit card debts at the earliest possible time. You probably do not realize it, but you have been paying a very high percentage of your income to service the credit card debts. Credit card debt consolidation is one way to help eliminate your credit card debts.

Over the years, you may have collected a number of credit cards with varying annual fees, interest rates on balances, penalties for delayed payments, etc - which means you have signed on for the cards without reading the fine print - and are now paying for it.

An average American has eight credit cards, with an average debt of $9,400! Credit card debt consolidation will help you consolidate all your debts on your various credit cards, into a single credit card. This saves you the hassle of first, keeping track of the bills from these various companies, and then paying to these different credit card companies. Credit card debt consolidation relieves you of this burden as you now deal with only one credit card company.

One advantage of your credit card debt consolidation is that the average interest may be considerably lower than what you may be paying on your various credit cards. This is quite a significant reduction. Ensure that you control your expenditure, and pay off your debts on the consolidated credit card regularly.

The Google Story (Book Review)

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 5:24 pm

During the electronic revolution, Google sprang about as the most indispensable search engine almost overnight. If there is anybody on the face of this planet who hasn’t heard of Google, I think he must be a relic from the Stone Age.

The book, The Google Story, is about the birth and the coming of age of this marvel of a company. Its founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, met in Stanford in 1995. Despite the earlier differences between them, they connected well because they shared a vision and a bright but goofy character. Sergey, the math whiz and a first-generation Russian- American, is the son of Michael Brin, a math teacher in the University of Maryland, and Eugenia Brin, a scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

Larry’s father, Carl Victor Page, was a computer engineer and he introduced his children to the world of computers early on. Although Larry’s mother was Jewish, Larry knew more about computers than Judaism.

During 1996, Larry and Sergey teamed up to analyze Web links as research toward a PH. D. thesis. Since this work took longer than anticipated, Larry came up with the theory of counting the number of links to a website could be a way of ranking that website’s popularity. Later on, they applied the Page Rank to the Internet. By early 1997, a primitive search engine called BackRub was developed. During the autumn of 1997, BackRub earned a new name, Google, derived from the googol a mathematical term, which means a number equal to 1 followed by 100 zeros and is expressed as 10 to the 100th power.

After its initial beginnings, the development of Google as a company reminds me of any small cottage industry that can abruptly grow in leaps and bounds to take over its industry sector. If Thomas Edison is called the genius of Menlo Park, Sergey and Larry, too, may be called genius-wizards of Menlo Park, because like Edison, they rented a large house in Menlo Park from where to continue the expansion of their company. Menlo Park became the nest from which Google the research project became Google.com.

One bright idea that led Google to its present day success was the idealism of its founders. During the heyday of the dot com companies, Sergey and Larry preferred to keep the company private as long as they possibly could because they wanted to build the best search engine; the money they could gain by making the company public was not so important.

Still, the company needed cash to expand, especially after moving to the new company headquarters in Palo Alto, and on June 1999, Sergey Brin and Larry Page announced that two venture capital companies, Kleiner Perkins and Sequioa Capital, had agreed to invest $25 million dollars in Google with their managers Doerr and Moritz joining Google’s board of directors. With this announcement, the Google revolution started taking roots.

Not all went without a glitch. For example, in 2004, there was the legal action against a UK company Booble.com, imitating Google but with a sexual content. Then, when Google finally went public, it attracted a trademark lawsuit from Geico.

As such, the authors go on to tell many stories about the company and even its chef who prepares the food for the staff.

At the end of the book, Brin suggests improving the brain by plugging a version of Google into it. That will certainly be the next wonderful surprise Google can grant its users.

The Google Story is in hardcover with 326 pages. In the front of the book, a contents page showing its 26 chapters is followed by an Introduction, and at the end of the book, are the appendices such as Google Search Tips, Google Labs Aptitude Test, and Google’s Financial Scorecard, plus A Note on Sources, Acknowledgments, Photo Credits and Index. A few black and white photos in the middle of the book add to its enjoyment as well as the variety of anecdotes inside it. This book is also available as an abridged audio CD, an abridged downloadable audiobook, and a trade paperback.

The writers of the book David A. Vise and Mark Malseed are reporters. David A.Vise, a Washington Post reporter, has won the Pulitzer Prize and is the author of three books, one a bestseller The Bureau and the Mole. Mark Malseed is a contributing reporter to the Boston Herald and the Washington Post and has done some valuable research for two of Bob Woodard’s books.

For me, this was an enjoyable read with one tale after another. Although the information in it has been in the news media before, seeing it in one piece was a treat.

Joy Cagil is an author on www.Writing.Com/ http://www.Writing.Com/ . Her education is in foreign languages, linguistics, psychology, and humanities.

Good Cat or Bad Cat?

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 5:12 pm

All domestic cats develop behavioral problems as their predecessors. They encounter both physical and behavioral changes. Cats are creatures of habit. They do what they need to do as their ancestors did from climbing to hunting to marking their territory. What is amusing to a cat can be an enigma for us. Some behavioral problems may be perfectly natural for a cat. Prevention is easier than cure; there are simple remedies. As a previous feline owner I have experienced most of these behavioral problems. My favorite defense was my infamous water pistol.

Cats will climb as this is one of their instincts. As a cat owner utilize implied corrections such as making a loud noise or use a water pistol. Cats will soon associate this activity with consequences. Satisfy your cats desire to climb by providing a location for this natural activity. Some cats explore certain locations out of curiosity.

Cats claw our personal items to mark their territory and to leave their original scent. Provide your cat with a scratching post to prevent damage to your furniture. Always reward them with treats as a reward for utilizing their post instead of your favorite chair or couch. Another simple remedy is to massage catnip on the post to encourage further use of it. To discourage your cat from returning to an already defaced area you can cover the area with two way tape or plastic.

Cats will stalk and can ambush your ankles from a concealed place. This can be painful! Unfortunately this is a natural predatory activity. Direct your cats need by providing proper toys that will stimulate stalking and capturing their prey. If this is unsuccessful either revert to the water pistol or throw a toy.

I recall my cats had a habit of digging in my plant pots. Attempt to keep your cat away from your plants or cover the soil with marbles or gravel. Cats hate to dig in gravel or marbles. Cats also find satisfaction with chewing on items as the actual house plant. Some house plants are poisonous and can be potentially fatal such as Lily of the Valley, Mistletoe, any flower bulb, Ivy, Rhododendron….just to name a few.

If you want to prevent a cats natural instinct to explore you must implement options. Jumping on counters or tables can be hindered by applying two sided tape or revert back to the water pistol. Offer your pet a diversion.

Outdoors offer multiple interests to a curious feline. When you open a door a cat can dash before you realize what happened. A male that is not neutered will bolt to satisfy his mating needs or they can just exit to satisfy their curiosity with all those distractions. Give them food or a toy. Distract them as you depart. With a male not neutered there is only one option….take him to the vet and get him fixed.

If your attempts at resolving your cats behavioral problems are unsuccessful, consult your vet. Maintain regular checkups to ensure there is not an underlying medical problem associated with their specific behavior. Make your vet your friend as they can refer you to a qualified cat trainer as needed. For clawing and climbing your other option is to have your feline declawed by your vet. Give the title good cat to your cat and enjoy those humerous, mischevious moments.

Dominant Dogs: Are You a Leader or a Follower?

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 6:06 pm

You live with a predator.

He is not human.

He is armed with fangs for slashing flesh and molars for crushing bone. His jaw may exert nine hundred pounds per square inch of pressure. He has forty-two teeth in all.

His sense of smell is so powerful that we, with our human limitations, can barely comprehend. Our olfactory sense does not detect odors unless they are painfully obvious. The nose of this more efficient hunter collects and concentrates minute traces of scent until they create a mental picture more detailed than a visual image. When he smells the ground, he knows every thing that has passed within many, many hours, days even.

While our human eyes process a wealth of colorful detail, his eyes are specialized organs tuned to detect movement above all.

Aligned above his eyes and nose, aimed forward, preternatural ears detect frequencies and sound which easily escape us. Noises such as the softest rodent squeak beneath a thick blanket of snow do not evade him. The footfall of a stranger on an outside porch step does not escape his attention. He hears the breath of large prey even from a distance.

He is swift. The fastest of his kind can sprint at forty miles per hour, covering ten feet in a single bound.

He is agile and he is strong. He can crawl. He can jump. He has a high ratio of muscle to fat. He is an efficient predator. A carnivore designed to detect prey, catch it, to kill, to eat, to reproduce.

He is a social animal. Left to his own kind, he will live in a clearly organized pack led by a dominant male and a dominant female. Serious challenges to the social structure will be met swiftly and violently. Yet a strong survival and social instinct inhibits this killer from harming his own kind unless necessary to maintain order. Thus, he speaks a complex and rich language with which he can advertise his intentions. He assures his pack mates that he means no harm, but that he will defend his rank within the pack.

He is an animal. He is a predator. He is opportunistic. He understands social order, his place in that order, and lacking strong leadership from above, he is ready to assume control of his pack. He is ready to defend his pack from outsiders. And he is ready to protect it from social unrest within.

He is your dog.

He has forsaken life with his kind to inhabit your world. But he has not forsaken his nature. He retains his predatory nature. He remains a social animal. You and your family members are his pack mates. You are his leader.

Or he is yours.

Make no mistake about it. Your dog understands the hierarchy in his pack, the organizational flow chart if you will. He will yield to pack mates above him on the chart, but not below.

For example, if you give your dog a high value treat such as a meaty bone, can you take it away? Does your dog remove the bone and run away with it as soon as you’ve given it? That is a low level form of resource guarding behavior. Higher up on the scale is when your dog freezes and stiffens over the bone. In his language, your dog is very clearly stating an intention to guard the resource.

The only question is to what length he will go in order to retain it. Perhaps he is bluffing. If you reach in closer to touch the bone he may give it up. Or perhaps he will begin to growl, stiffening further over the treat, revealing his fangs. Whether he decides to bite you is a question determined not only by his perception of your ranking versus his, but also by the level of aggression he is willing to employ in defending this resource from you on this day.

If he is your leader, then he decides whether or not you touch the bone, and if that act will cost you an injury. If you are his leader, then when you make clear your intent to take the bone, he drops it into your hand without protest.

Dogs do not bite by accident. They decide. They choose. They make conscious decisions in a split second. If your dog permits you to take food and other valuable resources away and is willing to follow your direction, chances are good that he regards you as his leader. Therefore, he will give you all the privileges due your rank.

However, you may find that the dog does not treat all members of your family the same. If he respects you, but not your spouse or children, this can lead to serious problems. Be on the look out for ranking issues in the family.

If you find that your dog does not accept your leadership role, consider contacting us or another professional dog trainer to assist you. Not all dominant dogs are aggressive. Some dogs are very benign dictators who never bother to reinforce their rules upon you. But if your dog is the leader in your home, things can go wrong in this backward relationship.

The beauty of dog training is that, much like counseling, it can put the relationship back on track so the love affair can flourish.

Choosing Cell Phone Plans

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 3:38 am

Family Cell Phone Plan

If you need to stay in touch with your loved ones, you should select family cell phone plan that:

- Allows you to share minutes with your spouse and/or kids.

- Provides a monthly bill listing charges for each line. This will help you identify how many minutes your family needs every month and the time of day members place calls.

- Is regional or local. The majority of families do not need a national plan.

- Offers bulk text messaging and unlimited night and weekend minutes for chatty teens.

Student Cell Phone Plan

When choosing between various student cell phone plans, select a plan that:

1. Includes plenty of “anytime” or night and weekend minutes.

2. Offers free calling among friends in the same network.

3. Includes you in your parents’ family plan.

4. Offers wireless data services.

Business Cell Phone Plan

To find a good business cell phone plan follow these three steps.

1. Determine the cell phone coverage you will need. You must figure out where you are going to be using your cell phone. Is your business located in the city or in the country? Do you travel aboard?

If your work in the city, you can use a GSM, CDMA or TDMA phone. However, if your work is in the country or remote areas, you should choose a CDMA or TDMA phone. If you plan to use your business cell phone while overseas, GSM is the communications standard used outside of North America.

2. Determine the cell phone rate plan you will need. Find out what business rate plan is the most economical for you. If you plan to use the phone mostly during the day, find a plan that will give you the maximum number of minutes throughout the day.

3. If you plan to buy a GSM phone since you will travel and use the phone abroad, chose tri-band/tri-mode phones.

It’s a Wonderful … Pet?

Filed under: Uncategorized — sunshineblog @ 5:05 pm

Isn’t it funny how we don’t realize what we have until it’s gone. Like the parent who pushes the kids off to college only to suffer from empty nest syndrome a week later, or like the guy that sells his hot rod only to spend the rest of his life drooling at ever car show in town. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could have someone show you in advanced the consequences of your actions or show you what the world would be should you never have been born?

Just think for a moment, it’s evening, you’re just getting home from work. You enter the house to be greeted by your family, but there is only one exception, there are no pets. No one ever thought to domesticate dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, and even snakes. So you say your hellos and then start to get ready for dinner. You’re then told how your son is having difficulties in school because he doesn’t communicate well with others. Mom and Dad were always working and without that pet to interact with he just kept to himself.

After dinner you sit in front of the television. You drape you arm over the side of the chair, but there’s no fur rubbing against your hand. No dog to curl up at your feet. No cat curling around your neck. Then the phone rings, it’s your sister. She’s calling you because she’s alone and needs someone to talk to, because she doesn’t have those fish, an African Grey, or that lovable French Bulldog to talk to. She tells you about her blind neighbor who needs to have someone guide her around.

The morning comes as scheduled so you get up grab your shower, eat breakfast, and you’re out the door. Wait, what’s this, no morning jog? But you need to get that body weight down. Oh, wait, there was no dog to walk to give you that extra push to get out and get moving. You then turn on the radio to hear reports of wild dogs terrorizing the public, and uncontrollable amounts of wild rabbits causing numbers of auto accidents.

Finally you come home for lunch. The house is empty. The silence is maddening, you could really use someone to talk to or curl up on your lap. But that would be silly, because animals don’t belong in doors, and animals are dangerous. As you sit there in your cold, quite house, you realize how truly alone you are. Then your silence is broken by the sound of your PDA chiming with a reminder that you need to see your Psychiatrist today. Hopefully he will find the root to your depression. As you walk out the door you think, “There must be something missing!” Suddenly you wake up to the feeling of a wet nose poking your face, a purring in your ear, and you breath a sigh of relief that it was only a nightmare.

How much would you miss pets if you sudden found yourself in a life with out them? Doesn’t it make sense to enjoy every minute we can with them? So today take some time and just think about what your life would be without your pets. If you don’t have a pet, just dialup your local shelter or rescue. Together we all can see to it that we never have to live a life without PETS!
