Five Steps to Making Money With Other Peoples Products

If you want to make money online without having you own products, selling other people’s products could be the ticket. Selling others products has many advantages. You do not have to spend time on creating the products, you do not have to set up a system to sell and deliver the products, and you do not have to get a merchant account and pay recurring merchant account fees. The person who owns the product does all of these things for you. All you have to do is market the product and make money with it.

So how can you make money with other people’s products? People who have created products usually run affiliate programs. An affiliate program is a way for you to earn commissions every time you sell someone else’s product. When you sign up for an affiliate program, you will get your own unique id you use to link to products you are promoting. Once you make sales using your affiliate links, you will generate commissions.

Here are five steps to take to make money with affiliate products:

- Find A Product To Sell. Before going any further, you need to find a product that will sell. A product should have a professional appearance, be presented on a professional web site and be a quality product that you would want to recommend to others.

Once you find the product, join the affiliate program for it and get your affiliate links.

- Create A Web Site To Sell The Affiliate Product. Having your own web site to promote the affiliate products is best. I always recommend that you get your own domain name and web hosting to host your web site.

The cost of domain names and web site hosting has come down considerably since just a few years ago. You can now get a domain name for about $8 per year and web site hosting for under $10 per month. At these prices you don’t have to be a millionaire or commit to a large capital outlay to start your own web site.

- Create Content For The Web Site. To get more visitors and more sales, you need content for your web site. It is not enough to just link to the product with your affiliate link. In order to make money with your affiliate link you need to bring potential buyers to your web site. A great way to bring them in is with content that is of interest to them, and is related to the product you are promoting.

One good way to generate the content for your web site is by creating your own content and articles that are related to the topic of the product you are promoting. Another good way is by using the articles that were written by the author of the product. Many authors allow their affiliates use the authors’ articles on their web sites, and use the affiliate link in the resource box.

- Optimize Your Web Site for Search Engines. Search engine optimization is the process of modifying web page content and meta-information to improve the search engine ranking of the page. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your web site. The more visitors to the web site you have, the more affiliate products you will be able to sell, and the more money you will make.

Make sure you optimize every page of your web site for search engines; that way you will get more web site visitors.

- Use Your Articles To Promote The Affiliate Product. Article publishing is a great way to drive traffic to your web site. Start by writing a few articles that are of interest to the people who would want to purchase the product you are promoting. Use the About The Author Resource Box to promote the product. Then take your articles and submit them to article directories. Doing this will bring more traffic to your web site and help you make more money.

Remember, you do not need to create your own products to make money online. Follow the five steps we outlined above to make lots of money selling other people’s products.

Top 5 Myths About China

Over 20 percent of the world’s population are Chinese, and by economic standards, China’s ascent is only just beginning. The Chinese nation, culture, economy, and language are going to get more and more important in the world during your lifetime.

But how much do you currently know about modern China?

What you learned at school about China, and what you read in the newspapers or see on the TV news may not be true any more.

Have a look at the following generalisations about China and see if you ever heard or believed something similar. Can you open your mind and change your preconceptions about China?

Misconception 1.

*China is an ancient culture*

What? Of course Chinese culture is ancient! One of the world’s oldest actually. Yes, but what’s modern China all about? China nowadays is a vibrant modern society, with unique pop culture, fashions, arts, tastes, and habits. Chinese people are proud of their heritage, and there is always an awareness of old China inside people’s habits and tastes. But the real China of today is a fast-moving modern place: the old continues to give way to the new, and and Chinese people are all looking to their future, not resting on the laurels of the past.

Misconception 2.

*China is backward and poor*

By 2050 it’s estimated that 50% of China’s population will live in the cities, and this is where the focus of national policy is at the moment. Chinese cities are being built up at an astounding rate: every city in China is currently a dazzling scene of infrastructure change - new roads and flyovers, new skyscrapers, new stadiums, new hotels and resorts, and of course new massive ostentatious government buildings. The word developing has come to have connotations of ‘third world’, but in the developing cities of China you can only marvel at the pace of improvement all around.

If you travel to the countryside in China, you certainly might have the impression of a ‘developing nation’: people are still farming the land using pre-industrial-revolution tools and techniques, and people’s lifestyles certainly couldn’t be described as cosmopolitan. However, what you may not see is that these people’s children may well be smart professionals in the city, sending home ever increasing paychecks to their family. Chinese people are ultimately loyal to their parents, and will routinely save and send home large proportions of their salaries. Even if the youth who move to the Chinese cities aren’t managers or entrepreneurs, city salaries for even basic jobs are enough in comparative terms to make everyone happy. Everywhere you go in the Chinese countryside, you can see previously lowly families buying cars and building new houses. So the wealth of the cities will filter to rural areas through private channels, regardless of the urban-focused investment policies !

of the government.

Misconception 3.

*Chinese people eat Chinese food.*

Yes, of course Chinese people eat Chinese food! But do you even know what Chinese food is?

Forget what you think you know from your local Chinese takeaway. Unless you’ve spent several years living in mainland China, it’s unlikely you have even a clue about Chinese cuisine. The variety is mind-boggling and almost certainly unrivalled in any other country. Expatriates in China will all tell you that every day they are still trying new dishes, even after living there for years. (And since we’re on the topic of mythbusting, sorry to be politically incorrect, but actually you can find dog meat restaurants everywhere in southern China and people really enjoy eating it in the winter. On the other hand, in case you are getting a bit worried now, dog is a pricey speciality so it’s impossible that you will ever receive a meat dish which is dog meat unless you explicitly ordered it!!)

Modern Chinese people in the cities also eat pizza, burgers, spaghetti, sandwiches, chocolate, and all sorts of real international cuisines, not only junk food. Visitors to China who can’t use chopsticks, or have a phobia of rice, will have absolutely no problem feeding themselves! (But if you visit China, please be a little more imaginative than to go straight to one of the hundreds of Starbucks springing up in every city.)

Misconception 4.

*China is a communist country.*

Politically, China is still a one-party state and the Chinese people do not elect their leaders. How much does this matter? For a start, China was never the same style of ‘communist’ government that we associate with Soviet Russia. And the days of Mao are loooong gone!

Government in China nowadays is actually much less centralised than in most other countries, with an amazing amount of power in the hands of provincial or city-level governing bodies. These local governments are increasingly competing with each other to improve and enrich their domains, and the effect is a lot more positive than controversy-hunting western journalists’ usual portrayals.

Are the Chinese people oppressed? Hardly! Chinese society is, any observer would be forced to admit, remarkably free and progressive. In point of fact, most Chinese people couldn’t be described as particularly agitated about freedom or political change, being more concerned about getting a piece of the GDP pie and improving their lives and their children’s lives. The political sentiment which most Chinese people share is a desire for stability, safety, and prosperity - and basically anyone would have to admit the government in Beijing is currently doing a really good job at that regardless of any abstract criticisms of their communist political identity.

Economically, what is China? People always laugh at the phrase capitalism with Chinese characteristics but it’s true it’s hard to find any description or comparative model for the Chinese system these days. In many ways the Chinese are more capitalist at the moment than anyone else, perhaps because the system has lagged behind in regulating and taxing the explosion of private commerce in the last twenty years. The name The Wild East has a certain truth about it at the moment, but things are getting more standardised, the RMB (Chinese Yuan - the currency) is now open to trading, and of course China is in the WTO now. Expect the China pages of your newspaper to get ever more prominent as businesses and governments wake up more to the economic power of the Chinese market.

Misconception 5.

*China is closed and difficult to visit.*

Anyone from almost any country in the world can easily obtain a Chinese travel visa from a travel agent and book a flight to any of China’s growing list of international airports. Once in China you can go and stay where you want. It’s just as easy as visiting any other country. The only reason your travel agency isn’t packed with brochures about visiting China is because those travel companies just don’t get it yet… Don’t worry - the travel agency will soon wake up!

Yes, but Chinese people don’t speak English! Pssst - can you think of any other popular world travel destinations where the local people, maybe, possibly don’t speak English as their first language? Seriously, in the cities a lot of people can help out clueless travellers, and even if you’re trying to be independent or adventurous, you’ll find Chinese people friendly, tolerant, and generally not scary at all.

In terms of other traveller fears about safety, security, and cleanliness, China is already in the top tier of countries in the world to live in or travel to. Frequent travellers to China will back this up: even in the inner cities of China, you can walk around as a highly visible foreigner, and although you may be stared at, you will never feel in any danger or discomfort. (Unless you expected a ‘normal’ western style toilet - oh dear! - but that’s an experience you’ll have to find out by visiting China yourself!)

*CONCLUSION*

Wake up and smell the tea! You need to visit China and experience it yourself: there is no way you will break through the misconceptions and prejudices about China from your armchair.

Omega 3 Fish Oil and Alzheimer’s Disease

Although no one knows what causes Alzheimer’s disease, many research studies indicate that those who regularly eat fatty fish or who supplement with fish oil have a lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in life. Why this is the case remains an interesting topic of investigation but it is believed to be due, at least in part, to the role Omega 3 fatty acids play in the general functioning of the brain itself.

Omega 3 fatty acids are known to improve mental function, mood, memory and concentration and have already demonstrated considerable success in the treatment of conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADD and ADHD. Currently there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, although research does indicate that Omega 3 fatty acids can slow down the ageing of the brain and possibly delay the onset as well as slow down the progress of Alzheimer’s too.

One research team from Aberdeen and Edinburgh University led by Professor Lawrence Whalley, questioned approximately 300 people aged 64 on their Omega 3 intake, they also tested their blood levels of Omega 3. The participants had previously taken part in a survey on IQ in 1947 when they were 11 years old. They found that those who had taken Omega 3 supplements showed better results on mental speed tests and there was even an association between the results and the level of Omega 3 in the blood of the participants. The team reported that the evidence seemed to suggest that Omega 3 could slow down the ageing of the brain and help it to work faster.

Another study conducted by Uppsala University in Sweden looked at the effect of Omega 3 fatty acids on patients who already had Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers gave 89 patients the Omega 3 fatty acids Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) for a period of 6 months and another 85 were given a placebo in the form of corn oil. After the initial 6-month period, the placebo group also switched to Omega 3 for a further 6 months. Although there was no real differences noted between the two groups in general, there was an interesting result where 32 patients who had milder mental impairment showed less of a decline whilst taking Omega 3.

The results of both these studies indicate that Omega 3 supplementation might not only improve mental function in the twilight years, it could possibly be beneficial in slowing down the progress of Alzheimer’s disease, particularly in the early stages, however, more research is required to substantiate this.

DHA deficiency and the fatty acid paradox

The brain is composed mostly of fat, in particular, the Omega 3 fatty acid Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia have shown very low concentrations of DHA in the brain indicating a possible DHA deficiency. This has naturally led to the conclusion that supplementing with DHA might offer therapeutic help.

However, what has been dubbed the fatty acid paradox is the belief that the best way to correct any DHA deficiency is not by increasing intake of DHA as what one might expect, but to increase intake of EPA instead. If enough EPA is present, the body can produce DHA as required.

EPA is believed to inhibit the activity of the enzyme phospholipase A2. Over-activity of this enzyme is associated with neurotoxicity and death of brain cells and is a feature of Alzheimer’s disease as well as other neurodegenerative diseases.

What is Alzheimer’s disease?

Alois Alzheimer first identified Alzheimer’s disease in the early 1900’s. It affects over half a million people in the UK alone. It is characterised by progressive mental decline and begins with periods of memory loss, confusion, and personality changes before proceeding to full-blown dementia with complete loss of most cognitive abilities and even physical abilities. No one knows what causes it, it is irreversible and there is no cure. It is relatively rare under 50 years of age but the chances of developing it increase the older you become. Medication is aimed at slowing down the progression of the disease. It is not the same as normal age-related cognitive decline where some impairment in mental function is considered a normal part of the ageing process.

Conclusion

Although no evidence exists that Omega 3 fatty acid supplementation prevents you from developing Alzheimer’s disease, the indications are that increasing intake of Omega 3 does decrease your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in life. There are indeed many other health benefits afforded by getting an adequate amount of Omega 3 in the diet including increased protection against cardiovascular disease, arthritis and many other inflammatory conditions. Bearing in mind the toxicity risk involved in eating too much fresh fish, supplementing with high quality fish oil would seem the best way to gain the protective benefits associated with Omega 3 fatty acids.

Remote Controls Galore–Replacement Remotes

The other day we lost our remote control. Being of the older generation I told my grandkids to not panic and just go push the button on the television. They thought grandma was crazy. The buttons are on the remote they are not on the TV, those are just decorations.

The next few moments were taken up by an explanation that remote controls are rather new. That they were not invented “in the beginning”. Of course, they were astounded that we used to have to get up everytime we wanted to change channels. How were we able to surf all the channels? Well there were only three it was no big deal.

Now we have remote controls for many of our modern appliances. It started with the TV remote and has spread rapidly throughout our lives. VCR, DVd, Stereo, Home Theatre, Cars, so amny remote controls that now we are purchasing organizers four our remote controls. There are so many that the next step will be to hire someone to program them all for our use.

The earliest remote was developed in 1893 by Nikola Tesla and was given a patent number even. There were other remotes in 1903, 1932 which was the first remote controlled model aeroplane. The First TV remote was in the early 1950’s and was unofficially called “Lazy Bones”. In the 1970’s more complex TV remote controls were being developed.

In the 1980’s Steve Wozniak of Apple developed a remote control that could operate multiple electronic devices.

Then in the early 2000’s the number of consumer electronic devices in homes increased. On an average American homes today have 4 remotes. A home theatre itself can require as many as 5 or 6 remotes, one for the cable or satellite receiver, VCR, or digital video recorder, DVD player, TV and audio amplifier.

Today remotes can also be used in industry, in space and of course for video games. So what do you do when one of them gets lost? Do you go back to the store where they will tell you that they will need to order it for you, maybe. Or you could go on the internet and type in Replacement Remotes. There are several good sites that offer name brand replacement remotes.

So after you get that last remote replaced you better invest in a location beeper to install on the remote or remotes as the case may be in your home.

First Date Mistakes By Men

If you can stay away from these first date mistakes by men you should make it to date number two. You’re going to have to show your date that you’re confident, and give a good impression with looking arrogant. The way you dress, what you talk about and your table manners are going to be under close scrutiny.

First off you need to decide where to eat. This is going to be up to you, so you have to get it right. Get this wrong and it will spoil everything right from the start of your date. Places to avoid are definitely fast food outlets. This will not go down well at all, and you’ll be lucky if you’re still on the date before you finish your food. At the other end of the scale you don’t want to take a lady on a first date to a fancy restaurant that is way out of your price range. For one she’ll think you’ve gone over the top, and two, you will be choosing all the cheapest items on the menu. You want a nice restaurant that is comfortable, serves good food and one where you can relax, and not worry about the cost of the meal. It will be even more beneficial for you if you know the restaurant you’re going to. You can order your meal straight away, and make your own recommendations. Not knowing what you’re going to eat when you sit and study the menu for ten minutes will not be attractive.

You will need to dress to impress. You don’t want to turn up at a nice restaurant and look like you should be eating in a burger bar. Most women will go out and buy something new just to look good for you so you need to make an effort. A shirt, nice pants and polished shoes will be just right for the occasion. Back this up with immaculate personal hygiene like washed hair, no stubble and clean hands and nails. All this things will be looked at in the first 2 minutes of you meeting. Get this part right and your still heading for a good first date.

Showing that you’re not listening can be very aggravating. She will notice if your eyes are wondering around while she is talking to you. You need to show you are listening all the time. Throw in the odd question so she knows you’re paying attention. Never look at another women while you’re on your date especially the waitress. This will not look good for you. You need to put the blinkers on for the night, and ignore what’s going on around you.

Some things are best kept to yourself on your first date. In fact some of them can wait a few months before you start being too honest. Conversations to avoid are ex girlfriends, any criminal offenses no matter how minor, medications you might be taking and generally anything that isn’t going to sound good on a first date. She will have things that will be kept a secret as well in the early days, and that’s the way they should stay.

There are many more mistakes you could make on a first date but if you avoid these ones you should have some idea of what’s not acceptable behaviour.

Website Builder: How Do I Benefit?

As a business owner, your initial steps towards building a website are usually ones of hesitation and doubt. You’ve heard the hype and every single business news and media outlet talk about this website and that website and all what a website can do for you and your business.

But what are your options?

You have several options if you are going to purchase a website package.

They are:

Hire A Website Designer

When you hire a website designer, you WILL get a professional looking website. However, what you’ll inevitably get is a very big price tag and a lack of control. You are at the whim of the designer and their schedule. Also, you’ll have to qualify them (many are sole proprietors or ‘freelancers’).

Pros: Professional looking website
Cons: Cost; scheduling delays; lack of control

Do-It-Yourself/Get A Friend

The Do-It-Yourself/Get A Friend option is very appealing at first glance. After all, you’ll learn a new skill. You learn how to code, how to maintain a website, how to build a website and all the infinite details. However, this all requires time. If you have the time, go for it. All the risk and rewards will be yours. Since you don’t have the time because you’re busy attracting more customers and focusing on the business, you decide to get a friend to help. Your friend tells you that they’ll get to it. A week later, you ask your friend how’s the website because you haven’t seen anything. So they tell you that they had a hard week at work and… You get the picture. Your friend’s time is valuable to them as well.

Pros: Potential to be very inexpensive

Cons: High learning curve; your margin is at risk because you are taking away from your core business knowledge and spreading yourself thinly. May damage your friendship because you’re managing your friend just like an employee. Your business image is at risk because you don’t know if the finished product will be professional.

Website Builder
When building a website, you look for these 4 items:

1) Inexpensive website building
2) Professional design
3) Have access to changes from any PC
4) Accessible Customer Service

The cost of a website is the initial sticker shock when thinking about website ownership. However, the cost can often overshadow what you require. For example, you require a registered domain name, a place to host your website (store your files) and the ability to control the context of your website from one central location. If the price appears too cheap for what they’re offering, then you may question whether you want to have your website hosted with that company.

You also want a company that will backup your data on a regular basis. A website company that also keeps abreast of technology that can help your website business grow is also important.

Website building shouldn’t be overly complicated. A website company that can help you build your website from the ground up with a focus on delivering your website professionally, inexpensively and on time will get your business 99% of the time.

Evaluate your website company and see what they can deliver. That’s the only way of knowing if they’re right for you and your website business.

Model Posing Tips from a Professional Photographer

Whether you are searching for a career in fashion modeling or glamour modeling, it is very important for you to realize that there is more to becoming a model than just standing there looking beautiful.

One very important factor in becoming a good model is posing, and in order for you to learn the different poses needed for the type of modeling career you are seeking it will take practice, practice, practice.

Make Your Posing Look Natural

When preparing for your photo shoot, there are numerous steps you can take to ensure you are comfortable while posing and your photos will look more natural.

Get Posing Ideas

Before you head to your photo shoot, pick at least ten poses you really like from fashion or glamour magazines, or poses you’ve learned from previous photo shoots. Take time to practice each pose in front of a mirror until you feel comfortable and have the confidence of knowing you look great doing these poses.

Hands and Facial Expression

Also, focus on what to do with your hands and pay attention to facial expressions. A pose is virtually dead and unimaginative without a “look”. You should be able to close your eyes, imagine a thought, open your eyes and sell that thought. Practice this technique and your photos will come alive.

Become an Idea Factory

Unless you are shooting for an advertising agency or some other type of special interest session many photographers recommend that you bring some of your own posing ideas to the shoot. In addition to your ideas, the photographer may have his or her own idea of how the session should go.

Rapport with Your Photographer

Always work with a photographer you feel you can trust. This will make communication between the two of you easier and give you the confidence to express your own ideas.

Always listen to what the photographer tells you. If you are really uncomfortable with the pose, let your photographer know how you feel, in a nice way. Remember, he is looking through the camera lens and might see something you don’t.

If the photographer says she wants something different in the pose, try looking away from the camera or giving a unique facial expression. This is where your practice in front of the mirror really pays.

Posture

When posing you should always keep good posture unless the photographer instructs you to do otherwise. Hold your stomach in to give your abdomen a more toned appearance. If you have gained a few pounds stick out your chin a little to avoid the appearance of a double chin in your photos.

Keep your fingers slightly apart and pointed away from the lens. Let your hands fall naturally into position whenever possible. Remember, you want to be yourself - on purpose.

Now that you have learned what to do, consider these things you should try to avoid while posing.

Things to Avoid when Posing for a Photographer

Misplaced Body Language

Body language and expressions come naturally but the language you are projecting might not be what your photographer wants in a particular pose. You need to conciously focus on ways to prevent these habits while posing.

Don’t hold your breath during a pose. Stay relaxed and your photos will look as if you just happened to be sitting this way when the photographer walked up.

In most pose situations you want your arms, legs, wrists, etc. slightly bent unless you are directed to do otherwise Most people don’t stand or sit with their arms and legs completely stiff. A good point to remember is, if it will bend, bend it.

Mona Lisa Smile?

Another posing tip to remember is that you don’t always have to smile. You should have a good variety of smiling and serious looks. But, sometimes you will want to give a large, open-mouthed laugh. If you are susposed to be happy, look the part!

Your Eyes are the Windows to Your Soul

Don’t always look straight into the camera. When you cut your eyes to the left or right, you create an air of mystery. When you look up and away, you are annoyed. Tilt your chin slightly down and look straight ahead for a sexy look.

About Blinking

Beware of the Blink! If you have to blink, try to blink between exposures. This is not always easy, especially if you are working in a photography studio. Some models get into a habit of anticipating the strobes and start to close their eyes when the picture is about to be snapped.

Get into the habit of not paying attention to the flash and concentrate wholy on the pose, your body language, hand position, etc. and your images will come out as you expect.

Be Bold!!

Never be afraid to try out some of your own poses in front of your photographer. Most photographers are glad to hear suggestions from you.

How do You See Yourself?

When you look at your final images don’t be critical of yourself. Find positive ways to improve your posing. Discover your strengths and weaknesses and shoot for the stars.

I am certain that Tyra Banks still works on her appearance and her posing artistry even though she has achieved a degree of stardom. Shouldn’t you?

The San Diego Natural History Museum

The San Diego Natural History Museum has an impressive range in its collection. As of this writing, there’s the fossil section, a section on the big fire in San Diego in 2003, rocks and minerals and a variety of educational programs.

We watched a movie in their movie theater. The current one is on Vikings, but of course the selection changes regularly, so don’t count on this being current information for long. The theater is large and comfortable - almost stadium seating with how the seats are tiered, but the chairs are not so high backed as in other movie theaters. The entire family enjoyed the movie.

The second floor is where the fossils are, and this was the area we spent the most time on. There’s a cave for the kids to play in, and it was hard to get my daughter to leave that area.

The kids will also enjoy joining magnetic parts to make various animals. Depending on age, it can be a bit tricky for them to figure out which part goes where, but since there are only about 5 or 6 parts per animal, it’s not too tough.

My kids weren’t all that impressed by the microscopic fossils that could be examined. A quick look, then they were bored. I found those quite interesting, however, and older children may as well.

If you think back to October 2003 and the gigantic fire we had here in San Diego, you’ll find the section on that fire quite interesting. Brings back a lot of memories, even though my home was not threatened at that time.

In the basement level there is currently an exhibit called “Dinosaurs: Reel and Robotic”. The kids loved this part. No pictures are allowed, so I can’t share anything like that with you. It’s a great exhibit, though. The basement exhibit changes at least once or twice a year. Last year it was robotic bugs. However, the times I have been there it has always been something really interesting for the kids.

The outside of the building is quite interesting. They’ve made changes to the building through the years, so one side is very old fashioned with lots of accents while the other side is quite modern. The building is just huge, but quite a bit of it is not open to the public.

The museum is free for San Diego city and county residents and active duty military the first Tuesday of each month. ID is required. If there are exhibits that require separate admission, those will still require admission.

Death Of The Small Sports Retailer?

What does the increase in the super stores such as JJB Sports and the recent acquisition program of Sportsworld mean to the small independent sports retailer?

Having spoken to over 1500 such retailers during the initial set up phase of Lookupsport.com, I feel the need to sound the alarm bell.

I spoke to a number of small multi-sports shops who have been driven out of business by the likes of Sportsworld and were in the process of closing, and even more who were finding life difficult thanks to the opening of large stores in their towns. However, this should not and must not spell the end of the independent sports retailer, but it will require a major shift in focus, and unfortunately I think that what’s required may prove too great for many.

The “problem”, (if it can be called that), with the larger stores is that they tend to focus on sports fashion rather than sports equipment - the equipment they do stock tends to be large volume high discount, which has a market but is not suitable for everybody. Sports retailers, who are trying to compete in this market have been and are continuing to be driven out of business, as they are unable to compete on price.

This “problem” however, presents an opportunity for the more astute sports retailer. There has and always will be a need for small independent sports retailers willing and able to offer both specialist products and advice. People who are serious about their sport, will always seek out these types of shop rather than go to a large chain, where the chances are the sales assistant will have little or no knowledge of the products they are selling.

If these specialist retailers are able to embrace technology as well, they will not only be able to survive but will also be able to grow their business in the current market. This is proven by the number of small profitable online businesses being set up selling everything from football flags to golf balls. Many of these compete because they do not have the added cost of high street premises, while others see the internet as an extension of their current business.

Unfortunately, I have spoken to a large number of retailers, who refuse to accept the advance of the internet. One retailer told me “Don’t speak to me about the internet, it’s ruining my business”. Unfortunately this is symptomatic of the British nation’s attitude to change of any kind, no matter how big or small. From the switch to the metric system, to the introduction of chip and pin and more recently the change in the postal system, anything which challenges the way things “used to be” is met with horror and outrage.

Other retailers have admittedly accepted that the internet is here to stay and have decided they need to have a website of their own. However, in the main they have committed the money and paid anything from £5000 and above for a website, but have not committed the time and energy to marketing it. They either believe, or have been led to believe that once the site is launched it will be miraculously found by thousands of buyers anxious to part with their money. This is simply not true as anybody with a successful online shop knows. As with any other business the key to success is in the marketing. Having an online store and not having a clear marketing strategy is like having a high street shop stuck in the middle of nowhere, and having it boarded up 7 days per week, so that nobody even knows what it’s called or that it’s even open.

So what’s the answer?

It’s clear that the internet is here to stay and in the right hands is a powerful tool, helping retailers to keep up with the competition and potentially enabling business growth.

However, retailers who have closed their eyes to the internet will need to open them quickly or face extinction. The younger generation have grown up with the internet and see it as an integral part of their life, and as current research shows the trend of online sales is increasing year on year. An attempt to resist this will lead to failure.

Those retailers that have already invested in a website need to put a clear marketing strategy in place. This could involve employing a Search Engine Optimisation expert, or a consultant (and there are thousands around willing to take your money), or they could invest some of their own time and hard work into this quite complex area. As a very minimum, they should be looking to take advantage to as much free or low cost advertising as possible. Many directories for example, offer a free entry with an option to upgrade to an enhanced listing. As with all marketing, the results should be measured and more time effort and money invested in those which bring in business. They should also set aside a budget for a Pay Per Click (PPC) campaign. Again, PPC is a complex area, but once the basics have been mastered, the hard work will be rewarded, with an increase in business and significant Return on Investment.

One thing is clear. It is the high street retailers, who understand the internet and see it as an extension of their business, who will succeed - especially if they are able to specialise within a certain sport or area of sport. Unfortunately those retailers, who refuse to open their eyes and see that the internet is here to stay, or who do not develop a clear online marketing strategy are destined for failure.

How To Lose The Pooch Belly- Removing the Belly Bulge

How to lose the pooch belly- Removing the Belly Bulge

It would not be wrong to say that half the people in the entire world suffer from the problem of obesity and excess weight. With the modern lifestyle becoming increasingly becoming static and no physical activity, a large number of people including youngsters below 30 years of age are becoming obese. It is observed that obese people normally have an out of shape belly. Both, men and women have a common tendency of developing a large and protruding tummy. This is due to an increasing concentration of fats near the stomach area. There are several exclusive exercises which are essential for removing this bulging belly.

Steps to Lessen a Bulging Belly

There are many steps which can be successfully implemented to reduce a swollen tummy. These steps are actually known to the people, but since they are difficult to follow they are not very much implemented. The first step is to exercise perfectly and follow the exclusive stomach exercises. These exercises include brisk walking, sit-ups and abdominal crunches. Brisk walking is a great way to regulate body metabolism and burn excess fats especially belly fats. Sit-ups and abdominal crunches do not actually help in burning excess fats but are essential in strengthening abdominal muscles and flattening the bulge. Belly flattening exercises need not always be well defined. Even some normal household work and chores are great belly exercises. Work like gardening and other work which involves physical activities like bending, lifting, twisting etc are all great exercises for flattening the belly bulge.

To lessen excess belly fats and flatten the tummy, the individuals must be very careful of their diet. They must refrain from eating fatty and high calorie foodstuffs. They must strictly have a diet which contains lots of fresh and green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and less oily substances. They must avoid sweets and keep it to a minimal. Individuals must avoid desserts, creamy and fried foodstuffs. These are the main causes for developing belly pouch and thus must be avoided at all costs. Excess sugar is the most important reason for developing a large tummy and hence sugars must be kept at a low minimum.

A reason given lately for people developing a belly pouch is the stress which has become so much a part of the modern lifestyle. It is a bit difficult to believe, but stress is a cause for obesity and developing large tummy. Increase in stress results in an increase in the level of hormone called cortisol which is responsible for developing excess and unwanted belly fats. Individuals must try to reduce stress levels and involve themselves in healthy physical activities, stress busters and recreational activities.

Generally when people become fat it is the belly that goes out of shape. It makes the entire body form is disturbed and it looks very ugly too. Thus when individuals begin to develop even a little bit of belly pouch, they must immediately take steps to flatten and have a regular exercise regime.
